I tried to beat all 101 floors of Devil May Cry 5 Bloody Palace with Vergil while relying on nothing but judgement cuts 95% of the time. Twitter: / kaizengaiden
First BP run is always a treat. A few tips with Vergil: 1. Any animation that involves Vergil sheathing Yamato will give you some DT if you let the animation finish. 2. Beowulf's charge moves can deal bonus damage if you let go of the button just as the charge happens. There's a bigger flash and an added sound effect when done correctly. 3. Void Slash with Yamato and Over Drive with Mirage Edge are great shield breakers. 4. Continuous attacks with Mirage Edge will cause stun. 5. Deep Stinger (Mirage Edge's super move) can pretty much instantly stun any enemy in the game, including Furies. 6. Higher Concentration gives Yamato bigger hitboxes, gives Beowulf stronger charges (and a third charge at level 2 Concentration), and gives Mirage Edge multi-hit properties. 7. All of the Mirage Blade skills are great, but Heavy Rain Blades in particular can slow enemies dead in their tracks. It's almost like a time stop, and it works on bosses, too. 8. Doppelganger is a great get-out-of-jail-free card. The Doppelganger activation has a ton of i-frames and a huge hitbox that can pop enemies up. Also, when the clone is out, Vergil takes slightly less damage and has a bit of super armor (kinda like how V does with Nightmare). 9. Sin Devil Trigger can be activated and used for free for about 3-4 seconds before the meter starts draining. Love the Yakuza vids, keep doing what you're doing.
There's another tip (only works on PS4/PS5, Xbox users, you're out of luck with this one.) If you suspend BP, and put the save file with your current progress in BP on your cloud storage, you can do it as many times you like. Best part it is that if you fuck up and download the cloud storage save, you can retry without starting all over again.
I haven't been able to get past stage 89 so I can't imagine how much I'll struggle with Vergil on the last one. Really enjoying these DMC videos, keep 'em coming.

Funnily enough I had the complete reverse experience. Bloody Palace turned me into a “lame ‘em out” type dude then I took that playstyle into DMD. That shit really made me hold onto every pixel of life bro XD Also them easy stages with the tentacles are just to get you your life back if you took damage
I am loving this DMC content my guy. Fury can be pretty easily parried with Dante's forward-triangle with King Cerberus and Nero's airbourne backward-triange. Can't help you with Vergil tho. Huge credit for getting as far as you did without full health. Go get those orbs G.
When it comes to fighting fury as Vergil, I've had a lot of success parrying him with helm breaker and flush jumps. As an added bonus, if you can hit him with 3 or so helm breakers, he'll get stunned, which is a chance for an easy kill.

A good cheese strategy I've found for death scissors is to wait for them to attack you then jump into them with beowulf equipped, you should parry them instantly and you can just shoot a summon sword at them. if you're not confident in that you can also air stinger into their attack but the beowulf one is more satisfying it pull off
Try to use Void Slash (back-to-forward triangle with Yamato) and teleport as soon as the attack hits as to not reset the slow effect and keep on looping, also use Drive for hordes(back-to-forward with mirage edge) For Fury's either go to the Void and learn their timings or you could jump while having beowulf equipped and keep jumping bc it has an active hitbox so it's really easy to parry their attacks, which stuns them for around 3-4 seconds
I don't know why I never tried jumping on the fury's, I usually just void slash to slow them then I drive and repeat with the occasional judgement cut.
I'll tell you what though, simply winning the fight has the most to do with knowing what strats to use on what opponent, moreso than knowing your own moveset. For example, avoid multi hit moves after parrying fury because he escapes based on how many hits he takes. Opt for stronger single hits to punish him

Anyway I just wanted to say when going against Fury's as Vergil. I found it easier to counter their attack buy using beowulfs lunar phase attack. its has more hits and an easier window to hit this counters. Oh and one other thing. When Fury's attack, they will always teleport once then attack. Unless they do the menacing walk towards you, they attack as soon as they teleport with that one. I find it's better to take on vergil slower than usual, it's like his fight promotes it. If you try to attack him constantly you gon get to ass whop, but if you wait he'll leave himself open after every attack.

I would point out that Vergil is basically the game's easy mode because he's so overpowered. But... I'm not one to talk because the only way I beat Bloody Palace in DMC4 was with him. And that shit took me so many attempts. By the time I got to the final level I was just spamming over and over-- while still nearly giving myself a heart attack.

Combos are good practice, but don't forget to try to learn every enemy type, and the moves that can be parried from the ground, like the mini Nelo angelo swings, you can use Yamato's quickest neutral sheathe smack to look cool while deflecting melee. Or just stand still, to block.
you can deal with those red guys that drain your health by using beowulf and then keep jumping so it can instantly counter him (you have to have the flush move for beowulf so you can perform the instant counter when you jump with beowulf activated) when you counter him you can start going CRAZY!!
vergils void slash shatters guards and shits all over the shieldy bois. It can even shatter boss vergil tryna deflect you. That and using summon swords in your play would dramatically improve ur play homie. You can set the sword botton to be different and use swords n shit while attacking for some devastating ass shenanigans
A year late but the fury teleporting enemies really don't like u taunting them and will do the slow windup teleport attack where the claw glows like 8 out a 10 times when he holds his claw horizontale immediately attack when he dissapears if he keeps it vertical wait till he dissapears wait a lil bit (i say 1 misisipi and attack it always works to counter them consistently😂)
With Vergil, you kinda want to always have a full SDT bar. Since he has a free quadruple S and he gens DT out the ass. His SDT basic mash combo on Yamato, and SDT divine dragon with Beowulf are extremely high damage without wasting SDT. Drive is also really good to dispose of goons and plants. Void slash with Yamato is also really good at DT gen.
As a trash player of DMC5, i admit that I always spammed judgement cut on some bosses using Vergil. I only do combos on weaker enemies. Out of 4 characters, Dante is the hardest for me to master
Don't know if anyone's told you this yet, but you can one-shot the death scissors by shooting them immediately after you've parried one of their attacks.
I got to 97 as dante once, suspended it and came back the next day, console crashed on fucking 98, did the stage select thing afterwards and beat the rest that way but really fucking annoying nonetheless, might try again soon and I'll probably edit this comment when I do
I get everyone has different control schemes because dmc is just weird, but I have no clue how people use the top face button for combos, like that's an interact or jump button on everything else
Vergil was the first one I completed bp spamming jc was very effective for me, almost beat it with V but those damn fury on floor 94 screwed it over. Any tips for fury with v or nero would do wonders for me rn
for nero i would say spamming the dt animation for the stun e then grab them in the air, for V maybe holding shadow and release the explosion right as the fury is coming

for tip 9 it is 5 seconds then it starts draining so you can pop sin dt do like 3 judgement cuts exit sin dt and not waste anything
Another thing about tip 1 is that taunts can allow you to perform a perfect judgement cut when it flashes

Honestly with vergil I used to just stinger spam with mirage edge, but after so many failed runs I can parry them pretty well. It's just practice
for vergil I spam trick and mirage blade until its vulnerable and spam stinger until its dead
Beowulf's Kick 13 and Mirage Edge's Stinger work really well.
Kick 13 turns fury into a joke. You can parry it basically doing the entire animation
Funny thing is that Vergil only ever needed one of Dante's styles to keep up with him, Swordslinger.

actually a very useful move for furys is Shuffle (r1 + backward + forward + melee), when exceeded is basically a free parry when a fury is attacking
