If I remember correctly, I think Spencer finds out that Maya died of strangulation? Something about how her trachea was crushed. But you're right we really never got enough details on it! Like we see the video footage from Noels cabin of her being grabbed, and we know she was found in Emilys backyard, but we really don't know much about what happened between then at all. The Maya storyline just being about Nate always made me so mad!! There was sooo much more potential, especially with the MAYA KNEW stuff!
I genuinely think some of the information we got on the show was misleading for a reason and I get every good mystery show needs that but the fact they went so overboard with trying to be so mysterious is so annoying 🥲 Marlene see you in court luv 😂

When I think of a reason for the photos Alison took of Aria sleeping brings me to think Duncan mistaking Aria for Vivian Darkbloom, which was Alison's alias who had brunette hair and wore a red coat. I think Aria was Alison's muse in a way.
That was my thoughts too. Especially after Duncan mistaking her for Vivian. Almost like an obsession or inspiration to look like Aria, because in some shots they do resemble each other in a strange way.
My theory with the Andrew situation is that he was actually Charles and was pretending to be a high-school student to get close to the girls. When we see Charles in the doll house, the person behind the mask had a more muscular build compared to CeeCee, which looked more similar to Andrew. Plus, Andrew kinda looks like he could be related to Allison. I feel like this idea was shelved late in the game, and they went with the CeeCee transitioning from Charles storyline.
the mental power you must to keep up with all these missing plots/inconsistencies while watching the show is astounding since every five seconds the show bombards you with more clues! I think that’s how they were able to get away with all this, information overload!! I’m so impressed!
Season 6 is when Ceecee confirms she is the one who hit Ali with the rock so that’s why Mona didn’t realize she accidentally hit Bethany not Ali. She knew the whole time the body that was found wasn’t Ali. But she thought somebody else killed whoever it was.
that’s my point though! why was mona not questioning who she hit when they confirmed the body wasn’t alison’s?
@@LucyDudgeon23 I think it was implied that mona really thought she did hit alison just not hard enough and that she survived. So when bethany was dug up in season 1 mona really had no idea who it was
When mona picked Alison up from the street (after grunwald pulled her out) she was bleeding on her head and I think Mona thought that was the wound from her hit
I think Maya was meant to be on the A team and it was her wearing the blonde wig to mess with Spencer. Maya’s backstory was rather vague and we never met her family. She was constantly finding Ali’s hidden belongings even though Jason and her family could never locate any of her hiding places. Alison also said she knew how to hide things so well that people would only find her hidden items when she wanted them to. I think Maya was intended to have Shana’s connection to Alison and Alison would let Maya know when to leave clues or “find” certain hidden items she wanted given to the girls at a specific time. We learn Maya was living a double life in Rosewood and was spending a lot of time with Noel, who also knew the truth about Ali, and the other older kids at the Khan’s cabin. She knew Jason and had his number in her phone which Emily was confused about. I don’t think she ever really went to True North. I think she was using that time to do what Ali and A wanted her to do and she would have an alibi for those incidents. Maya was last seen near the movie theater in town which is where the Sara Harvey connection comes in and she also worked at Lucky Leon’s cupcakes. This is the clue that sticks out the most to me bc it would have been easy for Maya to get in the bathroom and out the money in the towel dispenser without anyone noticing. She could have also hidden in a stall and waited till Hanna came in there to prevent others from finding the cash. I want to say she was at the surprise party for Hanna when the money was stolen from the lasagna box. Which likely happened while Lucas was Keeping Hanna occupied outside on the patio. That was the same night A broke up Spencer and Alex and Maya was in an out of the party bc she wasn’t enjoying herself. If she wasn’t at the party, Mona or Lucas could have easily stolen the cash. Someone texted Jenna from Jason’s number to lure her to the house when she was nearly killed in the fire during season 2 when Jason claimed Maya left the blue bag of Ali’s belongings on his doorstep. Maya knew about Ali being alive and much more bc I am not sure she was even the age she claimed to be. Maya knew Emily was a lesbian and in love with Alison which is why Maya singles her out immediately and starts moving in on her romantically. It was Maya’s idea to do the photo booth at Noel’s party and then A stole the photos of them kissing. She also lied about her shellfish allergy when she orders calamari at the grille when she joins Pam and Emily for dinner. Maya’s knew about Mona and the NAT and possibly the truth about Melissa’s pregnancy bc she was in contact with Garret during the time she was taking Melissa to her OBGYN appointments in secret with Wren, and just before she went missing and he was arrested for Alison’s murder. She likely knew about the medical records and the Nate storyline was changed to remove Maya’s murder from the main mystery and open the door for Shana to be introduced in season 3.
Her website is also interesting bc Mona (A) knew of it when no one else did and the Mass sugar name of her website is Spanish for more sugar. We are constantly shown A eating sugary sweets and candy throughout the show. And we never got an answer for that even tho Maya worked at the Cupcake shop.
Alison took the photos of Aria to create the masks for her alter ego, Vivian DarkBloom. Ali used Aria as her inspiration for Vivian.
Melissa was easily Black Widow or black veil as Melissa was the only character who actually was a widow in the show bc her husband, Ian, was killed. She lost her child and she feels extreme guilt for Bethany’s death, which explains why black veil sent the sympathy card and flowers to Bethany’s parents. Melissa’s face was the mold for the Queen of Hearts mask that she and Wilden wear on the train. She prob had an Ali mask from Hector which she wore to the funeral. Melissa is clearly calling Wilden from Alison’s in Byron’s flashback which means he helped her cover up “Ali’s” death and that is why he had to be killed.
I would love to know why Garret went along with Alison’s plan for letting him to pretend to kill her in front of Jenna. Did they have this planned beforehand bc Garret seems to just know what Ali wants and agrees to go along with it and let Jenna believe he killed someone! Why would you do that! And Ali never explains that portion of the night in season 4 and her wording of how she has been figuring out how to tell the girls “what they NEED to know” and not the truth.
Who did Mona speak with behind the glass while Hanna had her hair dyed in season 5?
How did Melissa know Cyrus to give him the tape of Ali’s fake kidnapping story and how in the hell did Aria randomly find him later in season 5 in the burn unit?
Who pulled up to meet with Jenna, Mona, and Sydney in season 5? And why was Sydney dressing up like Jenna?
Hmmm...... interesting. If Maya was supposed to be on the A team and/or be helping Ali I wonder why the writers changed it?
I feel like the writers changed lots of things as they went along and dropped hints that never came to fruition or abandoned storylines.
So frustrating. I wish there was a tell all where Marlene is completely honest and we could find out the reason behind some things. Like I think they were setting someone else up to be Big A then changed it to CeCe last min and thats why there are pieces that dont fit and are plot holes there. I would love them to confirm this, who they were setting up, why they changed it etc.
@@xwinwinwinx I have always wished for Marlene or one of the other show runners or writers to publish a PLL encyclopedia type book that would discuss all the major plot points in the show that were either changed or simply dropped by the writers and what influenced them to make those changes to the story. Since the show has SO many unanswered questions and plot holes, it would be a fascinating read to see what was originally intended to happen and why it did or didn’t come to fruition on screen.
On rewatches of the show after the time jump in season 6B, I think the plot/story used by the writers for the time jump is a very truncated version of the original story they wanted to use at the beginning of the series. You have Alison dating an older “doctor” who is a psychopathic conman who is not really a doctor and or even an American. The Archer Dunhill/Elliot Rollins story is basically Wren’s character but with the details reversed and combined with elements from Ian’s character. Archer is dating the older sister, CeCe, but secretly dating and moving in on her younger sister,Alison. He is British but using an American accent to fool everyone. He uses the exact same scheme that the conman tried to use on Ashley Marin in season 2 when the man claiming to be “Ms. Potter’s nephew/architect” Showed up to claim her fortune after her abrupt death. We never learn what became of her fortune and we see A putting flowers on her grave. Archer is successful with his scheme and steals all of CeCe’s fortune from Alison and Jason. Sara and others are after CeCe’s “treasured” bc they believe it is money, but it is actually a medical record/file with the truth behind so many lies. This is pretty much the same story in seasons one and 2 but replace Ali’s money or inheritance from Grandma D with the NAT club flash drive that held secrets about everyone’s family. Jenna, Sydney, Noel, and Sara are the rebooted NAT club and they all start getting killed off one by one again. Archer also has photos of Wilden that he uses to create the mask, much like Alison did with Aria in season 2. But if you think about Archer’s choice of using a mask or Wilden to break Alison’s mind in season 6b, you have to wonder why Wilden of all people would have such an impact on Ali, especially if she didn’t have a pregnancy scare with him but did date Ian. Wilden scared Alison bc he was the beach hottie who got her pregnant, which is why she was in such a hurry to get the money from Hector and Byron. There are more similar stories that you can plug in dropped plot points from the original mystery and plug them into the new one. Melissa obviously killed CeCe by accident, just like with Bethany, after CeCe tanked her relationship with Wren and how Ali did with Ian. Instead of people seeing Spencer walking away with a shovel the night Ali disappears, you have Aria and Ezra seeing Alison following CeCe into the church where she is later found dead. The show couldn’t get Melissa’s actress for the finale and had Mona accidentally kill CeCe instead. But why would Mona dress CeCe in a wedding dress with flowers, which are facts stolen from a college paper Spencer wrote? It is never brought up again, but who would have cause to do this with CeCe’s body? Melissa Hastings. Melissa lost her husband to the first A and then lost Wren bc of CeCe. Ali is impregnated and Emily donates her eggs, which is a callback to season 3’s April Rose mystery and Alison’s anklet. Spencer googles the name April Rose bc Garett left the note for Jason saying April Rose has proof. Toby, during his stint on the A team, interrupts her but the audience can see that April Rose is a OBGYN in the area. Jason thinks it was the antique shop, but Garett had told Spencer that medical records don’t lie. We learn Ella’s maiden name in season three is Rose! Alison was meeting someone at Ambrose Pavilion. This entire thing comes back in season 7, when Aria and Spencer meet with the female OBGYN doctor who was guilt ridden by her father’s involvement with trafficking the babies of Radley patients to wealthy families in the area. We learn Peter and Judge Khan helped make Spencer’s birth certificate legal and they falsified Grandma D’s will to keep Jason in it in season two. This is where I think they were going with the NAT club, and it explains why Jason was the one to start it. Pastor Ted showing up in season three and freaking Ella out by reminding her of Byron was bc he was Scott Montgomery and he was the guy sponsoring/paying Ian to continue the NAT club. Ted told Ella about his life in foreign countries, loved sweets, and had the cash to get Ashley out of jail. I think Ashley’s dark past was that she either sold her eggs to April Rose or Hanna was Scott/Ted’s biological daughter who Ashley passed off as Tom’s, which is why Tom left Ashley for Isabel and completely dropped his paternal relationship with Hanna. It also explains why his other children targeted Ashley and Hanna so much. Judge Khan faking birth certificates is the secret Ali used to blackmail Noel.
They only had Wren’s actor for a short time and it’s obvious that CeCe was lying throughout her A reveal, which was probably going to be retconned by Wren admitting he had her pretend to be him like she used to do with Alison and wear each others personalities, bc he needed to get the cops off his trail after the dollhouse. They couldn’t get him or Melissa for the end so we got Alex Drake.
I also think the 4 she devils CeCe’s roommate was talking about was Sara and her friends, and Wren kidnapped Sara and Avery was supposed to be Leslie Stone.
I also have a feeling Dr. Sullivan’s son who A threatened in season 2, was going to be Wren and his father was going to be Scott Montgomery who Dr. Sullivan met while doing her psych residency at Radley. Andrew Campbell was going to replace wren as her son in season 5 bc they were renewed for two more seasons and created the Charles plot. However, the actor playing Andrew got into legal trouble and was written off the show. This would have explained Wren’s picture of the Campbell farm that he is coloring in his season 4 episodes.
Didn’t mean to get carried away, but plugging in the pieces from earlier seasons into the later ones, suddenly answers a lot of unanswered questions
Aria's photos could make sense if Alison wasnt just taking pictures of Aria but trying to capture something else (a figure behind her? A?) Or something like that
i think with the Ali ‘dream sequences’ were real except for her visiting spencer in radley bc idk how she could do that? but she def pulled emily out of the barn and when she took pills from spencer and was talking to aria in her bedroom things were moved after, like the pill cap was off. idk about visiting hannah in the hospital though because how would she get in there without being seen by anyone who was like wtf that’s alison dilaurentis

wren’s involvements kinda does make sense, cece having a fake pass makes even more sense. she didn’t want mona to know she was a patient. eddie said there was some trouble with the old passes and people getting in and out. wren was aware of cece being charlotte (he works in the hospital) but he probably didn’t know she was A. he’s even the one who connects Alex with Cece
Wilden knew what happened about Ali’s murder but I think the framing actually makes sense and isn’t a plothole at all because he was Boardshorts so he wouldn’t want people to know he was having s€x with a 15 year old. classic framing teenage girls to take attention off him creepiness
My understanding was that Wilden didn't know about Ali's muder. Only that CeCe snuck out of Radley and Jessica paid him to take CeCe back to Radley and pretend he never saw her because she wasn't aloud out. Otherwise it really doesn't make sense 😅 though I could be wrong as lots of things don't make sense in PLL😂

Will try answering to the best of my ability (as someone who only got into the show a year and a half ago and wasn't "along for the ride):
1) Wilden's age is inconsistent, but what they first establish is in S1E3 when Hanna calls him out for the activities he got up to when he was in the Class of 96. So while Emily does claim that he was "a few years ahead of you in school" ("you" being Cece) in I believe S3E19, it looks like they ultimately remembered what they first established and went back to that.
2) Yeah this is just a retcon. I could come up with explanations as to WHY they decided to retcon it, but it is a retcon.
3) Assuming this isn't just a case of the Pilot adapting the first book too closely (even the stuff that doesn't apply to the show), it could easily be Alison or Cece doing their usual sneaking around.
4) This is explained in the show -- go to S3E8 and look at the scenes where Spencer and Aria sneak through Veronica's files.
5) I never interpreted this as anything other than what everyone else in Rosewood thought -- that Maya found something that connected Alison to Garrett and was on her way to give it to Emily before she was killed. Hence why the girls discuss Mona's other two riddles but not that one.
6) I think the show wants us to think of it as (in Hanna's words) "typical Ali weirdness". Some of the Liars really should've asked Alison more questions after she returned.
7) I think it was just an apartment, not a college dorm. Also, she had gained out privileges, which were revoked after the frat party incident.
8) On the one hand, Jessica was technically the better parent, but on the other hand, it's not like they had been on particularly good terms for quite a while by that point. Regardless, I think it makes sense for Cece to break down in tears when she found the body despite the status of their relationship. I don't think she went into burying Jessica with the intent of turning it into an A thing at first. Peter's line was because Cece's role was unknown to him at that point.
9) Cece obviously didn't kidnap her on the night that Ali went missing. Sara ran away back then, and sometime between then and the Dollhouse, she met Cece. The specifics could fill a spin-off on their own.
10) I could've sworn that it was because Ali and Cece shared the blackmail material on him, but looking back, I guess that was never explicitly said and I just thought it was. The closest is when Ali says "I trusted him once, then I realized he was spying on me for Charlotte." Emily then replies by reminding her that she had something on him.
11) The idea that A or someone was systematically killing NAT club members was reasonable speculation on Spencer and Emily's part, but ultimately, Ian's killer (himself), Garrett's killer (Wilden), and Jason's attempted killer (A) were all different people. That said, no one explicitly takes credit for Ian or Jason in the show, and when Jason returns in S4, he accuses Wilden. So if they really wanted it to be all one person, they easily could've had it be Wilden. Why would Wilden kill Ian? Well, remember how when Ashley and Ted found the NAT drive in S3E11, there was a video of Ashley and Wilden on it...?
12) In the S4 finale, Ali says she saw a very much alive Ian leave the church. Also, he definitely died via gunshot wound.
13) Buying the same clothes for them doesn't mean they'd coordinate what they're wearing together. At least, except for the prank XD
14) Because Mona helped Cece get discharged.
15) I have no idea why he suddenly left despite saying he would meet Ezra, but I never thought there was anything more to the Aria thing other than risking her low profile. It's the reason Spence gave as to why she couldn't volunteer even though it was her plan.
16) What Jason saw was Melissa burying Bethany. He hallucinated that as Melissa talking to Cece, thinking that must mean Cece was wearing the same clothes as Ali.
17) I think that's just what Cece _thought_ happened.
18) Again, her out privileges.
19) I rewatched the scene where Jason gives the bracelet to the Liars, and they don't say Bethany was wearing it. J: "Alison was wearing it." H: "Wait, you mean when they found her?" and then Jason dodges the question. Remember, Ali left her bracelet with Mona, and Mona sent it to the police like she did with the video.
20) This is easy to forget because this was the time when the Liars start suspecting that Ali isn't dead, but starting with S3E17, they suspected Wilden of killing Alison. Jenna didn't make it up, she said Garrett told her. Garrett likely had a distortion of the facts. Yes, Wilden may not have seen Alison that night, but he was there.
21) I don't think it's blackmail, it's just the presumption that Melissa is a scary person.
22) Well, if they grew up apart so much, it would be hard for Cece to view him as her sibling. At least she had the sense to resist any sex.
23) You can hear a guy cry out, so Wilden. Lucas was hobbling because Toby ran him down (for some reason??). No one would be seen hobbling because Emily pointed out that it'd been weeks to absolve Lucas.

25) I just went back and checked this scene... so, I've never thought about this. If someone else was pulling up, I didn't pick up on it before. That said, Melissa felt like "the big one" of the group, but her involvement wasn't a secret at that point...
26) Sure, she "loves" her, but she's also strangely possessive of her. "I only got mad when _you_ didn't listen!" She keeps going on about how she couldn't let Alison leave again... Also, the frame job was at least partly Mona's idea. And Cece DID want Alison to be brought to the Dollhouse.

30) This actually annoyed me when I realized that who Wren was talking to... doesn't matter. The point of the scene was to reveal that he was the one who reported Veronica. This annoyed me because I feel like that's not something you could do in this show without making it seem like a bigger mystery. At least show the person on the other end of the call be Shana or something. And of course, that just means his coloring was just some ominous ending...
31) In 5x06, he said he interviewed some of the staff at Radley when he was writing his book. He appears to know about Jessica being on the board. Although, now you're making me wonder if he knew that Jessica buried Alison...
32) It was Red Coat, and it was only in season 4. Sometimes I wonder if it's the good Red Coat (Ali) or the evil one (Cece), but since it's supposed to be A, I guess that means it's Cece.
33) I wouldn't be surprised if Sara was only ever meant to be brought up in the one episode, but then someone had the idea to make her an actual character and have the others find her, and thus the Black Widow was made.
34) Wilden independently killed Garrett. That part wasn't an A order. The Aria part definitely was though.
35) It looked like she just tripped and fell. Also, they were trying to make a connection to Ezra being shot that night. Also, if you ask me, it was more than "an episode or two" spent on Aria's guilt, in fact, it was almost too many.

39) I think once it's revealed that the NAT club were in Ali's room that night, it's easily Ian. Not to mention, Mona somehow got Ian's Kissing Rock video, so why couldn't she also get the photo?
40) Honestly, I think the way they went about it in the show was funny -- imply it's something no one wants to recall in the show, confirm what is was in interviews.
41) I _think_ you're mixing up Veronica and Peter's actions, but even if it was all Veronica, her desire to protect her daughter could easily override what she actually thinks about guilt and innocence.
42) No, he didn't know, but that would've been a _killer_ reveal.
43) At first I thought it was Cece, but now that I think about it, the next episode does start placing suspicion on Wilden... (hence the 911 remark)
44) The show confirms that Hanna and Emily's were real. I've always felt that Aria's and Spencer's second one were impossible though. And I don't know about Spencer's first one. And the one Emily has _after_ they already know Alison is alive is almost definitely not real lol

50) Yeah it did. In that same scene, Peter told Spencer that it exonerated Garrett and the judge threw out Ali's murder case. Spencer then ran upstairs and screamed into her pillow. And she received the text "Hey Spence, I have one more surprise for you. Garrett isn't their killer. -A" Not to mention Jason gave up looking for answers after that and drunk drove himself into a crash.

52) He was getting rid of evidence that implicated him. For example, the Liars never saw that notebook again. And he tried to shut Cece up. And then Hanna. In S1, he accuses the girls of knowing who killed her, so he thought that either one of them did it or they know for a fact that Cece did it. Either way, he was certain they knew.
53) Well, you pointed out his S3 secret, but his S4 secret was getting back together with Melissa and running away from Rosewood back to London.
54) We don't know what their social lives were like.
55) He was barely in the show. And once he was regularly in it, she did.
56) To break up him and Aria of course lol but in all seriousness, there were several hints, like the archery thing or disappearing right after he told Aria he was there for her 24/7.
57) This actually is revealed in an interview, and they were going to film it, but Julian couldn't stay for another day... Also, he wasn't with Melissa anymore.
58) Wren and Melissa didn't break up until during the five year time jump. Remember the flashback with Hanna in London?
Cece & Ali were wearing the same outfit. Jason seen Cece that night. Cece was wearing a black sweatsuit when she hit Ali so I’m guessing she put her clothes on Bethany when she killed her. So I’m guessing she had a mental breakdown and saw “Bethany” wearing the yellow shirt. Like oh I thought I killed you this time I’m gonna make sure you’re dead kind of thing but whole time it was Alison. Then lastly Melissa ended up burying Bethany off of the strength of Spencer

It would make sense for it to be Ian that Melissa was talking to when she threatened to call the cops. I might be remembering wrong but I think Ian was seeing alison at the time, which obviously pissed Melissa off. Ali was a minor at the time, so the easiest way to make him stop seeing her would be to call the cops🤣 unfortunately the writers probably never had a plan for who she was talking to, but that's my best guess. Who knows.🤷♀️
