Altering these truck’s schedules means additional traffic during high peak or business hours. That’s why these loud vehicles collect when traffic is minimal. You fix one problem, you create another.
No, traffic is inevitable. Another few dozen trucks on the road in your vicinity is far less inconvenience than having a half ton dumpster lifted 10 feet in the air 6 inches from your window at 6 AM on a Saturday.
Be glad at least the trash is being picked up. Stop whining.
Being awakened at 3:30 am is just crazy and inconsiderate. People saying if they don’t pick it up then you’ll really be unhappy. 🤦🏼♀️ some of us have jobs and need our sleep to pay our bills and taxes. These private companies need to be held to account. This has been going on for 19 years? And nothing?? It’s time to fix this, way beyond time.
Exactly! Needing proper sleep in order to function the next day is not an insane concept to understand and the lack of empathy in these comments is concerning. It’s not just the one person interviewed, it’s several people who’ve complained over the years. Instead of blaming corporations and dated truck technology, they blame the people for being rightfully annoyed! The lack of solidarity and empathy for fellow people who need a basic function covered is bananas.
Noise sucks... How about normal moped and car exhaust systems as a registration inspection requirement as well.
This is worse. Dam speeders, car exhaust systems and mopeds. We have few on our street at 2AM to 5 AM. The exhaust is so loud our whole house and glass windows shake. We already had our windows fall and shatter because of these inconsiderate dummies.
My place there's noise from motorcycles, loud mufflers, chickens , and karaoke.
As a garbage truck driver myself I know our trucks are loud but working early is necessary for multiple reasons. One if you can't start till 6 in the morning you will block more traffic and have people honk at you. Two you will be out later in the day in 100 degree weather especially during the summer. And three it will create dangerous situations where people will pass you illegally and accidentally hit you or head on collide with another car possibly killing someone. Safety is much more important than your good night sleep being interrupted.
How much more can people complain!!! Complaining over chickens crowing, now this... let the rubbish trucks do their jobs for if it wasn't for them you would have piles of rubbish piled up. So just let them do their jobs...

Apparently at school buses as well. In California neighbors would complain due to the loud noises the bus would make such as roaring as they pass your house, the brakes squealing , and the bus backing up
Go to bed early! I sit on my deck at 4 o’clock sip my coffee and watch the trucks empty 10 to 15 dumpsters, and it don’t bother me at all ✊🏼🇺🇸✊🏼

I work at a garbage company down in New Orleans Louisiana garbage here starts at 4:00 a.m. the reason why we start so early in the morning it is to beat the traffic trying to run over The Hoppers the people getting the garbage and trying to beat the heat

Drivers paid hourly, early morning less traffic faster pickup time. Changing hours, equal longer drives less done, more drivers higher cost. Do you want to pickup the tab for this, no one can afford to. Price you paid for no planning.

I also called HPD for 30 nights straight about my neighbor drinking, smoking weed, and loud outside boombox.
They party every night, and turn off boom box when they see police.

😆😁 ok, Waikiki is a bustling tourist area, I remember being awakened by some drunk sailors fighting at 3am, and at that time, people are out and about! Onward trash or as they call them on the islands Rubbish collectors👍🏽

You decided to live in Waikiki, fool. It's one of the noisiest places on Earth. Drunk people screaming. Traffic noise. Police and ambulances 24/7. Next time do more research before buying a place, or move back to wherever you came from.
Id rather have garbage trucks being loud and picking up the garbage then it being quiet and having garbage everywhere.

It’s 3 times/week for me. Trash bin. Recyclables bin. Plants bin. But, it doesn’t bother me because I’m a heavy sleeper.

Have residents and tourists empty their own trash it will be the most ideal thing to do in Waikiki. At the end of the day they guarantee long hour of sleep through any noise. After two days of dumping their own trash they’ll ask for the noisy garbage truck. Do these people understand why the truck drivers picking up the trash at those time while you’re asleep. Like I said have Waikiki residents and tourists move their own trash, not the hotels, not the businesses but the residents and tourists

Let the residents pick up there own trash. The trash have to be picked up so if they don't like the noise let them take own trash to the dump.

Pick your battles. I'd be MORE upset about disruptive people or groups of people! Rubbish needs to be picked up at those times to avoid peak traffic issues.
We have so many problems in Hawaii and yet the trash pick service is priority! 🤣💁🏻 So ridiculous these people. They have nothing better to grumble about.

I agree with carleen lol. I wake up everyday picking up you people's trash. You Guys hear only an hour or 2 I hear it all day everyday. If you don't like it, dump your own trash. Plus too do you know how much trash we pick up on a daily? The big front loaders pick up about 300-600 cans a day. That's A whole fricken lot that we dump it at hpower for your electricity. Also making dirt and other stuff out of your burnt trash. Same thing goes for the green waste dumps, same goes for construction dumps. Roll offs and semi's not bad but they do drive a lot just so we can make it on time to these dump sites.

I don't know whats worse, the dam private dump trucks or the idiot that lawnmowers the dam Ala Wai golf course from 2 AM to opening of the golf course almost every day or every other day.
They are not talking about the City and County. They are talking about West Oahu Aggregate and Honolulu Disposal Service. They are making all kind of dam noise at 2 AM.
At least the City and County starts at 6:30 AM.
