George Mitchell had a nice part in the 1971 sci-fi movie "The Andromeda Strain", as one of the two survivors (the other was a baby) of a small town that was wiped-out by a space virus.
Thayer David as Matthew Morgan was one of the best changes that Dark Shadows ever made. This actor was not intimidating acting or looking enough to be a convincing menace to Vicky.
Three points. 1. That look Mathew Morgan #1 gave Vicki when he first meets her is powerful and terrifying. Many a woman would get horrified if a man coldly looked at them like that. 2. Actor George Mitchell was very deep and good as Mathew. He made Mathew seem like he really came from somewhere. Thayer David gave no illusion his Mathew Morgan was from anywhere. David also overly relied on the make up job they gave him to get him through the scenes. He acted like he was waiting to go back to his dressing room. 3. Alexandra Moltke is sexy and beautiful in these scenes. Let us males notice her.
George Mitchell was the first Matthew Morgan but not for too long. Back in the 1970s watching D.S. as repeats I always thought Thayer David's initial role to the series was Ben Stokes. After collecting 1-26 on DVD'S I collected 1-6 on D.S. "The Beginning" and liked Thayer as Matthew. No pun against Mitchell.
Sam's version of the story of Josette and Widow's Hill is vastly different to the story that Barnabas told later after he was introduced to Dark Shadows. Things and actors changed. This guy who plays Sam Evans is not the same actor who played Sam Evans later on. Also, the actress who played Maggie in the beginning, is not Katherine Lee Scott. Who was she, and why did they get a different actress later on? I have so many questions! ~Janet in Canada

Suspenseful and dramatic, excellent acting!

So true. Thayer David had the intimidating physical presence and the A+ acting chops to make Matthew Morgan an effective and memorable character.
Some people are very strong though they do not look it.
