- Grand Theft Auto 6 is easily one of the most anticipated games right now, and fans are obviously really excited to know more about it. Between Grand Theft Auto 5 being more than a decade old and Rockstar being mostly tight-lipped about the current state of development, fans are eager to understand why is Grand Theft Auto 6 taking so long to develop?

I believe GTA 6 is taking so long simply because GTA 5 became the second best top selling video game in history and Rockstar are continuously relying on it’s success especially when u consider the fact that the GTA Online addition made a profound success towards the series and Rockstar might rely on that success for eternity
I think by the time GTA 6 releases rockstar may have already have plans for gta online 2.0 or whatever ends up being called please I got hoped that they continue with the single player stuff only a couple expansions and few dlc before moving onto the GTA online 2.0

Apparently, the main reasons why GTA6 is taking so long is due to lack of agreed direction & design within the title going right up to the very top of the company, hence why so may key members of staff (including a Howser) have left R*. Plus the crunch & abuse culture around RDR2 times put a lot of devs on the brink too. GTA5 shows that they'd already started to drift away from the core essence of what a GTA game is / was, in terms of satire and sense of humour / fun, so I hold very little hope that GTA6 will be a true GTA.

GTA Online. They had no idea it’ll make more than the entire franchise.
I havent gone through the whole vid, but i honestly think with chatgpt coming in last year and the level of AI, how to intergrate new NPC dialogue into the game directly, ai mechanics will have thrown them for a toss. They wouldnt want a game ro get incredibly dated withun the first year of release because AI tech is now a game Changer. They're looking to intergrate for the long run which is why its taking so long.

Some people are so stubborn and they don't understand how much research, how much investment and how many resources takes to build a game of such caliber, nonetheless a game that needs to be a game changer for gaming industry. Furthermore, people forgot about RDR2 to, that has been in development for a long time, along with the next GTA, that requires a lot of development power.
Tru but by then they dropping other gems to keep us busy they thought rdr2 was gonna hold them down fo a bit and realize we wanted sum more moderate.
I highly agree. RDR2 was in development for like 8-9 years and was HUGE and that's one of my favorite games of all time.

One of the main reasons i believe it's taking so long was the production of RDR2. You can't tell me it didn't take them a long time to make that, as well as lots of rockstar employees working on the game. I mean they were pretty much caught up with that for a good while. Now imagine a game like gta 6. Yes that's going to take a while. Furthermore, many employees have come and gone in the past few years, that surely doesn't help. We have to consider when employees come and go it slows production down. For example, a coder leaves and gets replaced. That new coder they hired won't know what to do right away, they will have to be trained by the rockstar team. Each company has their own way of making a game. All in all, these are just some of the factors we need to take into consideration. We do know they used to work 100 hour works weeks. Which is just insane and draining to anyone's wellbeing. I'm not surprised nor do i blame anyone for leaving.
As if rockstar doesn't have enough money and employees to have multiple development teams.

I 100% believe it would have been announced by now if it didn't leak. I think the leaks actually took alot of pressure off rockstar. People now know protaganists and setting. Rockstar will not rush. Also hopefully once it is announced we will get a solid release date without the typical rockstar delays.

The next announcement will be gta4 remaster not Gta6. Everybody is forgetting this. The gta4 remaster (like RDR remaster) will be used to try and take the heat off and buy them more time with Gta6. There's no way they'll announce gta4 remaster AFTER Gta6 because nobody would care at that point.

Even if that winds up being true that they'll re-release GTA 4, it wont be a "remaster", it'll just be another lazy port for $50. Just look at the lazy RDR1 re-release, it was a minimal-effort port with 0 improvements, not a remaster. And the Trilogy DEFECTIVE EDTIONS were even worse abominations..........
Like ruining another legendary game like they did with the Trilogy so they can make gta 5 and gta 6 look superior

Rockstar is one of the few companies who cares about quality instead of rushing a game out and fixing it [finishing] it with patches.
And also people saying gta online got in the way cuz they are doing that instead don't realize how many employees Rockstar has in the companies
They have teams.
The team that was doing GTA online are different than the team working on GTA 6
So no GTA Online was not being done instead of GTA 6.
It was being done during GTA 6 development.
And over the last couple years more and more people from gta online team have been moving to finish gta 6 and that's why u have seen less updates and less content in gta online over the last couple years.
Also game development takes much longer these days and with the quality Rockstar gives of course its gonna take a very long time.
People who are bitching about gta 6 not being out don't understand game development or that Rockstar is one of the few developers these days that prefer to give us a quality game instead of a half finished rushed game like most games are released in these days.
Trust me Rockstar will make GTA 6 worth the wait cuz they want this game to be perfection and perfection takes ALOT of time and patience.

Rockstar has always been woke technically by the way they mock the USA. They just do it in a way that’s digestible. Problem with other games is when they have different characters of different backgrounds they make the entire characters background & mission in the game to be only what they are & everything they do surrounds it. Which is fine sometimes but it depends on the story, the game, and the genre.

I miss when pizza hut was a family restaurant with padded captains chairs, big solid oak tables and huge pizza buffets, I miss video games being complete and properly tested before release, I miss the malls that were full of people, stores and products, I miss the arcades, the cars, the styles. I think our civilization is past its peak. Change is only good when it makes things better.

I agree with everything you said in this video. People want this game now but then would complain when its rushed, buggy or forces developers to work 100 hour weeks. RDR2 is one of my favorite games so id happily wait till 2025 for this game
Til 2025??? But that is when the game will be released. Putting out a single game every human generation (15 years) isn't a great model for building a future fanbase. All the adults who are the Cash cows for GTAV were the kids playing the original games when they came out, but there won't be the same brand loyalty at the rate Rockstar is currently producing titles.

@@jonathanscott3914 Knowing people who work in the industry, the plandemic had a very minor effect on the game's development, it has been the in-house shuffling of leadership and longtime talent that has had a larger effect on the delay. RDR2 came out 5 years ago today so if there isn't an announcement by years end then the game won't be dropping prior to Summer 2025, likely closer to the Fall/Holiday '25. Considering they had already begun to map out VI prior to the launch of V in 2013, a 12 year turn around cycle is just too long. Especially because in Rockstars heyday (until GTAV) they were publishing a new game every year or two. Between 2008-2012 alone they released; GTA IV, Midnight Club: LA, GTA: Lost/Damned & Gay Tony, GTA: Chinatown Wars, RDR, LA Noire & Max Payne 3. In the past 5 years since RDR2 they've released nothing of substance. Temper your expectations as no game is worth this wait.
The way I see it, rockstar is in fear of gta6 not making more money then 5, mistakes like rdr2 online & the definitive edition gta failed, so my guess is one of the reasons they are keeping gta5 online running & made a port for red dead redemption at nearly full price to make more profit, if I heard right they are putting 2 billion into gta6 which is a big risk if all goes wrong. So they are gonna get as much back up money to replace gta6 if it goes wrong. That's my guess anyway because why else would they sell a 2010 game as a port at nearly full price? Doesn't add up nor make sense & they made it for ps4 and Nintendo switch but not as ps5 becasue they know some still struggling to buy a ps5 & ps5 can buy it once it's on ps4 due to backward compatibility

I would agree but a 10 year wait without even a teaser or a trailer is abysmal. if a trailer or teaser doesn’t get announced this year that’s 11 years without any information about the game. I think a lot of you need to realize we’re not asking for the game to be released right now what we’re asking for is actual information and pride talking about the game rather than this FBI top secrets approach they have.
Now wait until they officially drop the MRSP, which I have heard is $129.99 USD for the Standard Edition of the Game with no Bonus content or access to exclusives. The price can only go up from there...

Seems like the best plan would be to release GTA6 then the online function 6 months after gives everyone time to finish the story and get new consoles whilst rockstar gets the online up and going for everyone

Thé studio worked on Red dead redemption 2 to after GTA v . Rockstar never disappointed me they always deliver Quality.

Companies don’t actually LIKE spending money.
They aren't waiting on GTA Online to plummet to make a move. They are more so taking time to make sure they can launch smoothly with a new and better online option within GTA 6 to get players to leave GTA 5 Online at launch. So if they announce GTA 6 coming anytime soon its because Online will be ready at launch too.

GTA online seems to be winding down a bit the last 2 big updates were really just vehicles repurposed for businesses. I still have chaotic fun in gta online I get why people are pessimistic but there is also a really good chance GTA 6 will be the best game we’ve ever played

People keep saying GTA Online is the reason, when it could not be further from the truth. GTA Online gets less and less updates each year and it’s clear rockstar is starting to make a departure from it. We need to also remember that Rockstar is adjusting to a new work space after the development hell of earlier GTA 6 production and RDR2 development. The game is also simply a large game and it’s not easy to make it, it’s not like all 2000+ employees at rockstar are actually developing GTA 6 or any rockstar products for that matter. Some of the rockstar employees are there just for things like community management and such. Patience is key at the end of the day, we will get GTA 6 soon enough.
The time GTA 6 comes out a PS6 will be out by then.

We'll very likely never get one of those games ever again. Take-Two/Rockstar can't monetise them extensively for years post release and they just wouldn't sell as much or make the kind of money that GTA or Red Dead do, so they probably just won't bother. Unless Remedy could make another Max Payne.

It's year 2023 im 21 yeara old teen "adult" but never played Rockstar games like Red Dead Redemption, Bully or Gta but I am interested of playing defienitily Red Dead Redemption and Gta I only have Rockstar's Gta Vice city on Ps2 and Gta 5 on Ps4 but I believe Ps4 games works good on Ps5 and I'll have to play Gta V on thie year 2023 when Gta V is over 10 years old what is hard to beliehe it's true mam im feeling old. Because there is Gta V 10 th anniiversary on this year, Gtq 6 should come to on this year but it sadly takes too long because game seems to be really BIG and there's a lot of hackers what have been hacks Rockstar... 😢
