- Whether or not GTA 5 Online will still be relevant when GTA 6 releases is not in question. It will be. There’s thousands of players online, with countless businesses, jobs, heists, and unique things to do in GTA Online - so as long as #RockstarGames continues to support it, its relevance will remain intact. But I guess the primary question I have for you watching is ‘Will we still care about #GTAOnline when #GTA6 drops?’ And how likely is it that we’ll still see support from Rockstar? Back in July of 2022, Rockstar Games abandoned support of Red Dead Redemption 2’s online component, stating that it wanted to put more resources towards GTA 6. So is GTA Online set to go the same way as Red Dead Online, no longer being supported by Rockstar as it puts more efforts towards GTA 6? Will there be a significant dip in online players when GTA 6 releases, or will it be a gradual decline as the years progress post-launch of GTA 6? Those are just some of the questions we hope to answer in this episode of GTFM.

GTA Online is called that instead of GTA V Online because Rockstar will create a path that players can choose either V or VI. V may no longer receive new updates but it will still be available.
Hopefully that happens and we can carry over, and access, everything you got and can get in GTA Online.

Rockstar literally had plans at one point to do that with what they called, "Project Americas", Which also would have added Liberty City as well.
So my question was if Project Americas was almost a reality at one point before (With An Additional City, More Than The Guy In This Video Is Wishing For). Why would this idea (Which Almost Did Happen Once) now be "Pie In The Sky"?

Take-Two's new server patent and acquisition of FiveM suggests that they are recreating their server technology to be a lot more optimized and handle more players.

Server tech is limited and has been for a while. Games have now exceeded server ability by a long shot. With new games engines it is basically impossible to have large multiplayer on them, because there is simply too many assets ect. It is very likely that gta6 will be single player only. And if they put a multiplayer in, it will be very small scale and the world will be very empty because it wont be able to run the npc's ect. Because each player also brings thier assets to the world and servers simply cant handle it, and that isnt going to change anytime soon.

A lot of people are probably going to forget about gta5 online most likely post launch based on the wait for the game
False. If the server is still running, people will still play. Especially if they can relax after the game is released and continue to work on both games based off the fact that people will always buy shark cards. It is what it is, as we get older and tired of the games, new up and coming players who just hit reasonable age are probably now picking it up.
How much you want to bet that more people will still be playing GTA0 than GTA6 launch week? Get real.

As long as GTA 5 continues to sell shark cards (earning millions of dollars) and GTA+ subscriptions, which it will still do for at least a year or two after GTA 6's launch, they will have a small team of people making it relevant for at least a year or two post GTA 6 launch. I'm sure Rockstar recognizes that not every single person has the money to go out and buy a ps5/series x/s, but can still occasionally afford a shark card or a subscription to GTA+. Millions of people still game on last gen.

Rockstar actually came out with an update when they released the trailer for 6. They said when you start up GTA 6 Online, our online character will come in on a plane (pretty much exactly how they do when you first start online in 5) BUT your characters stats and money will be reset which in my opinion? YES.

Gta 5 online should have a final heist for endgame content. Last major update for 5 and when 6 comes out you find out that the final heist in 5 results in your character having to flee los santos for a new life. You have to leave everything behind and start over in vice city.
We abandoned rdr online to focus on gta6 meanwhile gta5 new dlc and it doesnt take to much effort to fix the STABLEEE bug in rdr online
They also will not be adding the oppressor to 6 or anything on that level because they looked at the feedback for it from 5 so to anyone wondering, No the oppressors will not return.

Rockstar would be crazy to entirely discontinue GTA Online once GTA 6 releases. There's still a thriving userbase with plenty of opportunities to milk microtransactions. It's a license to print money. As long as it remains profitable, why shut it down? If anything, they should amalgamate progress into GTA 6.

1. Rockstar made it clear in 2013, this was never called “GTA V Online” so not sure why the host is referring to that name.

3. GTA Online isn’t starting to show signs of age at all, it started showing signs of ageing 7 years ago.
4. That’s about the same length of time it’s been since GTA Online was last relevant. It is a joke and totally ruined the original legacy of V - it could’ve been great.
Hopefully Rockstar shut down GTA Online around a year after GTA 6 drops, with GTA 6 Online. Supporting 2 GTA Online versions would be pointless, Activision did this with Warzone, hopefully Rockstar follow the trend. Also hope nothing carries over in out characters for Online, fresh start clean slate. Let current GTA Online be its own thing and start a new generation with GTA 6, it's time to let anything GTA 5 related left behind as a thing of the past.

GTA 4 is still online cause it's ran off servers owned by MS and Sony not Social Club like GTA 5 online, hence why RDR 1 is still online.

What if Rockstar makes it so GTA Online has a character switcher. One character can be your current GTA Online character and a second character that you can switch to can be your GTA 6 Online character (The switch animation would just traverse the continental US lol.) Each with their own money and everything else obviously. And any future purchases of shark cards you can choose which character to apply it to.

GTA Online has already been enhanced for PS5 Version. What you get for GTA 6 will be the same on PS5 for both games. Also GTA 6 is only coming out on PS5 and the newest Xbox consoles. So they can use both maps and bring them together some how which I'm sure they're planning to do. That's why they enhanced GTA Online and it is now separate from GTA 5.
They should do the CodHQ approach. Have a HUD that when you open the game have the different games to choose from like warzone, MWII & MWIII. That way you can open it up and choose what you want to jump into and can easily switch.

Port character to GTA VI but transfer of wealth or accomplishments should be broken into 3-5 tiers with players receiving in game special items based on previous progress. Keep it relative to the game where maybe in the new map it unlocks a nicer beginner apartment or condo for players of high prestige. Maybe gear or gun skins etc for lower tiers. Custom car customization whatever. Could be like a care package but nothing that would break the game or cause the need of immediate nerfs lol

There is a narrative with updates such as The Diamond Casino, which is followed by the Casino Heist. The former shows a war between Chinese and Texan families over Casino ownership, while the latter has significant character development for Lester. No disrespect, but Allen has no clue what he's talking about. I'd recommend that he play GTA Online before speaking about it.
Gta 6 will never have an online aspect to it. The amount of equipment required to support such an undertaking would be not financially sound.

Yes they love money but also every single DLC they have made for GTAV has been free. You just have to buy the game. The DLC for GTAIV wasn't free. Shark cards are an option and they even have a version of the online game where you get the CEO office and stuff. He sounds like he doesn't know what's really going on.

Not really, it's been 10 years, game servers don't last forever... Activision did it with Warzone and people spent hundreds on skins, Rockstar need to do the same so they can move on.
