  • As you move the hologram around, you can see the different sides of the dice due to the parallax, or "look-around," capabilities of holograms. These features are sometimes used as overt security verification methods, or authentication, referred to as Optically Variable Devices. We call them holograms!
Even though the hologram shows depth and realistic "look-around" like a real object, it's all recorded on a thin, flat piece of film.
See how we made this hologram on our Monday - Make a Hologram blog post, and find more details on making holograms at LitiHolo.

That's a gorgeous hologram. To avoid the light wave banding near the edge, you might want to place a black straight edge, just thick enough to block the reference beam entering the edge of the plate. Very glad to see you're back in action, too. Thanks for the video.

What about painting it with a thick coating of permanent marker?

@@fatitankeris6327 I've attempted that, but the ink wouldn't distribute evenly, and light still go tin. Now I think about it, I perhaps, should've tried the paint pen I had, at the time.

Can you make a parallel view stereoscopic video showing this to demonstrate the effect?

Humans, and anything pulsing and moving can only be captured over nanosecond pulses, rather than with such CW lasers.
