If you check the 1911 addicts forum and search for the logman mod you can do a very simple fix to the slide stop which allows it to pop into the frame much easier. No more scratching the frame.
Do you have to remove the spring first? I have a 1911 and I find it easier to take the slide off before touching the spring. Will that cause any problems?
You don't have to but I like to do it first. I don't believe you could take the spring out 2nd on a captured guide rod assembly. I think it'd have to be first
Also, a guitar pick works really well for installation of the slide stop.
I haven't tried the guitar pick yet
Really enjoy your videos. Dawson precision makes a tool-less guide rod for the Springfield trp operator that works really well.
Thank you for watching! I don't mind this guide rod but if I'm ever looking for another one I'll look into it!

Thanks! I'll check it out
I use a jeweler’s flat screwdriver for the detent
I've used a few different things but I wanted to pick something that everyone should have at home
