An exceptionally underrated pitching staff and a currently mid offense with some upside. Their ability to actually do damage come playoffs will require adding 2 legitimate bats though. Same deal as Seattle. The AL is kind of Houston then everyone else right now. If you can beat the Astros then anyone can make it.
@@parkercrossland410currently mid? They were top 10 in HRs, runs scored, and OPS without 1/3 of a season from Julien and Wallner and over half the season without Lewis while not losing any major bats
@@homedogg1233 I think Wallner is the second coming of Patrick Wisdom, where he's got bop but strikes out too much to be much more than league average with the bat. This is going to sound very unscientific but Edouard Julien just sounds like the name of a classic underwhelming 2000's Twins infield prospect that doesn't pan out in the pros (see Alexi Casilla, Jason Bartlett, Trevor Plouffe). Both take a step back this year.
I need to see 2 players healthy in the second half with a near .900+ OPS to consider a lineup a playoff threat. They have a couple guys that "could" do it, but not so much in terms of who you could say "will" do it.

I kinda feel the American League is wide open. In the NL, you gotto get really hot to get past the Dodgers and Braves.
Okay, I am a huge Twins fan. Have been since I was a kid. And while I was stoked that they won their first playoff game in 18 years and first series in 21, even I don’t put a lot of faith in them going to the big show in November. This Spring has been pretty much a bust and while it is only Spring Training, I saw a lot of issues that the Twins need to lock up and quick when the season starts. They are still giving up a lot of runs. They are still not producing enough runs. Lewis has been pretty silent all Spring. Buxton is doing his usual injury thing and Correa has been pretty docile. Duran is starting on the IL. Their big pickups? Santana isn’t hitting great, DeScalafani is out with the possibility of Tommy John and Margot is barely making any contact. The most exciting thing I have seen is Jeffers in at catcher as his bat is pretty good. Ryan also is looking pretty good on the mound so far. But they have been really bad against the big teams in the AL - Yankees, Red Sox and Orioles - all Spring. And only so-so otherwise. An 8-19 Grapefruit League record and last overall is nothing that gives me any confidence. But just like the postseason, Spring Training isn’t the same as the regular season. They have been trying a lot of different things and tweaking all Spring. I just might be wrong overall. I guess we will see!

@@ClipCityValorantYou got that right! I love my Minnesota Twins and have since I was a kid. I know that management is the main issue with the team, from ownership to field manager. I do, however, credit Derek Falvey on a lot of his actions since he took over as GM. In my mind, he is on board with going as far as he can with what he has available to him. But with ownership being the main handicap, I don’t see them being any better than playoff fodder. They don’t even have the ability to get past the ALDS. Not only that, but even with the current streak of prospects coming from the farm system, they won’t pay out when the time comes to do so and will pay out for free agents who are past their prime.
That being said, the approach they seem to be taking lately is nearly the same that took them to the World Series in 1987 and 1991. Develop the farm, gradually add them to the 40 man, keep them once they develop for a few years. Bring in a couple of veterans. I’m not saying it won’t happen. But between the lack of action in the off-season and the lack of action in Spring Training, I’m not gonna hold my breath. At least, not until late August, if things go right…

Another thing about Carlos Santana too, is that he was ranked the best glove at first base last year. The Twins as a team last year, had a bottom 5 defense at first base last year, so he is a huge upgrade that way as well.

Vasquez rarely caught the end of last year and alot of the post season because jeffers bat was too good, or i should say relative to the poor season vasquez had at least, looking to be a bad contract if he doesnt improve.
Im optimistic guys like Lewis and Buxton are coming in healthy, even Correa as healthy as you can be with surgically repaired fibulla. I think the health of those guys are going to have the biggest impact on their regular season success.
As you said another AL central title in the worst division of baseball is likely, but im not sure they have the starting pitching or bullpen/ BP depth to contend in a 7 game series. Ryan had a 'good' season with the new repertoire but they didnt even trust him to throw G1 against houston in the ALDS and threw Ober for 'a different look' and houston smoked him. Plus lossing Gray, I dont see anyone in that starting rotation exceeding expectations to be inpactful outside of Pablo Lopez. Alot of health concerns through that entire pitching staff especially the bullpen.
