Nice apology. Now, why does he still have a job? Obviously, the ejection was planned ahead of time and he simply waited for Bumgarner to do literally ANYTHING in order to justify tossing him. This is unacceptable and Dan Bellino should not be allowed to umpire in the MLB again. Period. Make an example of him. Let the other umpires know that this isn't okay behavior.

Umpires haven’t and won’t learn their lesson until the threat of their job is being taken away by technology if MLB decides to go that way. This umpire only “apologized” because someone in his union told him too as a PR move to make the umpire sound apologetic. One day something major is going to happen between a player and an ump and it’s not going to end well for both if this doesn’t get cleaned up.

I was watching that D-Backs game with MadBum on the mound and MadBum was ticked off because the home plate ump missed a couple of strike calls that MadBum painted the edges on which he wound up giving up that homerun on. Apparently Bellino didn't like MadBum showing up the homeplate umpire and that's why he was "checking" MadBum's fingers for stick-em although he wasn't really checking. He was trying to instigate Bumgarner into saying something so he had an excuse to throw him out which is why Bellino never actually looked at Bumgarner's fingers, just gave Bumgarner non-blinking-creepy stink eye. Seriously creepy AF. I'm sure Bellino will end up talking to Chris Hansen eventually.

You know how boring baseball would be without the entire package of great plays , bombs , bad calls , ejections and fights. It's all apart of the game. Robot umpires would kill the game

You should do a video of Jim Joyce. Probably one of the most loved umpires of all time (or at least the modern era). And unfortunately is only known for one really bad call that basically cemented his legacy. But he missed the call, and admitted it and blamed himself ("I kicked the call. I kicked the sh*t out of it."), phoned Gallaraga to apologize and still umped the home plate the next game. Genuinely loved by the league and the players both before and after that game and, like it or not, is in the HOF (at least there is an exhibit dedicated to the incident in the baseball hall of fame)

Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, and Ohtani will be the most dangerous trio for any team to go against during the regular season. And I think the league should make a minimum amount that a team needs to spend every year to make it more fair. Some teams are just too cheap.

I was a basketball official for High School in OH and we (refs) had to have enough control of our emotions to ignore the crowd, (both sides), the Coaches, the players, everyone had emotions about the game so it was not productive for us to make things worse by over reacting to the heat of the moment from fans, players, and coaches. It wasn’t that hard to disconnect the heat of the moment for most experienced refs. This guy is supposed to be a professional umpire! My question is where is this guy’s professional conduct????

Good on him for being educated and a member of the bar, but unless or until I sign a client agreement with him, I should not know his name. He's already failed in that regard, and should be fired for it.
