    Hi, I'm Chris Heckman. Over the past decade, I’ve built 8 brands to 7-figures, generating over $25M in sales, and exited from 6 of them. Now, I run a 7-figure POD Shopify brand to show that POD is alive and thriving with the right tools. Unlike others who sell pricey courses, I’m offering my complete course for free, so you can judge my credibility based on my results.
    My brands:
    - Historeetees.com (SOLD)
    - Yogaste.co (SOLD)
    Proof: Google "OpenStore acquires HistoreeTees"
    My experience…
    - 22: Graduated from Penn State, joined Amazon.
    - 23: Quit Amazon to start a Facebook ad agency for e-commerce.
    - 24: Joined a house with 12 entrepreneurs.
    - 25: Ran four 7-figure Shopify brands.
    - 27: Reached $20M in e-commerce sales; exited all brands (e.g., Yogaste.co).
    - 28: Launched 2 more 7-figure POD Shopify stores (historeetees.com).
    - 29: Sold 1 POD store, started a RUclips channel to share free POD success tips.
    - 30: Created a 21-hour course, now growing We Scale and Mystic POD to simplify POD for beginners.
    Today: Our POD Shopify store does +10K profit/month and we are going to scale this to 40K profit/month, showing all the steps along the way.
    To those just starting their journey, burn the boats. Business is never easy, but the wins outweigh the lessons that are learned along the way. Take the leap because you’re never guaranteed tomorrow.
    Let’s scale,
    Chris

    I'm at ~70 designs now, and they are getting so much better, I definitely can see why this is such an important rule.

    Another point worth making is that people's tastes vary widely. Those designs you think may sell the most often do not, and those you were ready to scrap turn out to be hits. The market will tell you what is good or bad. Give them one hundred to choose from; there is strength in numbers.

    I have a question. So you’ve made 100 designs and found 1 or 2 winners. Then you make 300 more designs based on those winners. How do you organize your collections? The original 100 designs are all over the place (obviously to find out what direction the store should go) so do you remove them or place them in a random collection.

    • @ChrisHeckman
      @ChrisHeckman  5 дней назад +4

      Just throw them all in a big collection in the beginning, worry about organizing after $5k profit /month

    When building a brand or a company, a quality is one of the biggest pieces of it. People stop buying your stuff when it's the same shit that you can buy from store with $5, but you sell it $30.
    If you fix cars for a living and everytime something goes wrong, your company goes down.

    Question: Do you ever cull the herd? Suppose you have 1000 designs. Let's say it took you a year to get to that point. Do you ever eliminate the non-sellers from the first batch or do you hope against hope that someday somebody may buy one of those early designs?

    • @ChrisHeckman
      @ChrisHeckman  5 дней назад

      Good question and yes occasionally but just when I feel like it’s getting to be too much to work with. Not a specific number cutoff or anything

    • @JaredFL
      @JaredFL 4 дня назад

      @@ChrisHeckman Also probably depends on the platform. If they're charging you to have the listing up and it's not selling in a very long time - Probably makes sense to kill it. But if you're running a Shopify site, it doesn't cost you anything to keep it up.

    • @ChrisHeckman
      @ChrisHeckman  4 дня назад

      @@JaredFL very good point - yes, this rule is specifically meant for Shopify POD sellers.

      I would think that this is true as I use that strategy in my etsy shop and do quite well. I’m currently moving over hundreds of etsy designs to a new Shopify store, excluding only items that really don’t sell at all for a year on etsy or don’t fit in my niche. But how is 100s of designs helping you if you are only advertising a handful? I’d think you are not advertising them all. Is the benefit that when a lead gets to your shop they are buying more? Is it for your organic reach since you have more listings up in google? Thx

    • @BeyioonShop
      @BeyioonShop 3 дня назад

      @@JaredFL Yes but FB costs you since you have to test ads for much longer to test 1000 designs than 100, that's where you burn the money

    Was hoping you would’ve also touched on the value of not just the number of designs, but the number of products that the design is applied to. Sometimes the design becomes recontextualize when it’s put on a different product thus also potentially attracting a sale.

    I know the high design volume strategy is the nature of the game in marketplaces like Etsy, but even in a niche branded Shopify store? You can only make so many designs for one niche unless you have a general store. I heard having one niche one brand for a given shopify store is way more successful than having a general store. So what’s the strategy then? Is it the same as Marketplaces? Just high volume of designs in many niches? Or high volume in one niche one brand? Which one is it?

    • @ChrisHeckman
      @ChrisHeckman  5 дней назад +1

      Yes and you can make 1,000’s of designs for a niche store
