What year is your Prius? My daughter has the 2014 and I installed the cruise control but when I plugged the cable it never turned on. I don't know if a fuse is missing for the cruise control or this spiral controller is bad?
we have a 2014. we installed our cruise also. there are wires that need to run and plug into terminals under the dash. it isn't just putting in the cruise control switch. there is no fuse. if you didn't run wires it won't work. if you did maybe they aren't plugged in to the right spot.
How did you know your clock spring was bad? Did all of the controls on your steering wheel stop working, or just cruise control? I have the same car, and I had added cruise. After many months of working, all of a sudden the cruise control will turn on (ie: the icon lights up on the dash), but I am unable to set the speed.
When we turned the wheel we were able to set the cruise. So we were able to determine it was the spiral cable. All the buttons still worked on the wheel.

if you did run wires try turning cruise on while making a turn. if it turns on while the wheel is turned it is probably the spiral cable.

Will the standard clock spring work if I install cruise control to my prius c?
Yes, it will work. I installed cruise control on our prius c base level 1 without changing the clock spring.
