Lights on the Lake - Syracuse, NY
Lights on the Lake is TWO MILES of holiday lights and over 600,000 bulbs! It's enough to make Clark Griswold jealous. This is a fun, family activity to get in the holiday spirit. It's located just outside of Syracuse in Liverpool, NY (right off the thruway!) so it's easy to get to from anywhere in the state.
If you're in the area, make sure to buy a ticket in advance and take a drive through.

Into the Niagara River Gorge and Devil's Hole Cave
Просмотров 8814 дней назад
We visited Whirlpool State Park and Devil's Hole State Park in an attempt to get down into the Niagara River Gorge. While Whirlpool had nice views and access to the Rim Trail, we had to go to Devil's Hole to find a trail down into the gorge. It was amazing! The trail has over 400 uneven stairs and no railings so it is listed a moderate. It is worth the hike if you can handle it! Gorgeous views ...
JELL-O Museum - LeRoy, NY
Просмотров 35521 день назад
We stopped by the Jell-O Museum (which is about more than just Jell-O!) and had a great time! There is a ton of information about the Town of LeRoy and about Jell-O which was invented here! It was fun to see old Jell-O flavors, molds, ads, and more. If you're ever in the area make sure to stop in. They have an amazing gift shop, too. Jell-O Museum: jellogallery.org/

We took the Adirondack Scenic Railroad from Thendara to Tupper Lake. It was a bit of a dreary day but the ride was fun and we had a great time walking around Tupper Lake for the afternoon. This is not our first trip on the Adirondack Scenic Railroad and it will not be the last!! Adirondack Mountaineer: adirondackrr.com/adirondack-mountaineer/
Hike and Paddle at Upper Sargent Pond

We took some inflatable paddleboards out for their maiden voyage. The short hike to Upper Sargent Pond was really nice and the views of the pond were amazing. It was a perfect Fall day! The trail is located on North Point Road in Long Lake, NY and is three miles past where the road to Forked Lake splits off. Upper Sargent Pond: www.adirondackexperience.com/hiking/upper-sargent-pond

US Naval Ship Tours in Buffalo

We visited the Buffalo and Erie Country Naval & Military Park to take tours of the USS Sullivans, USS Little Rock, and USS Croaker. The tours did NOT disappoint. MOTHERS Polish to Clean Headlights

We found a really easy and cheap way to restore old, foggy, yellowed headlights. In just minutes, our headlights went from needing to be replaced to looking almost like new. This is a great way to keep older headlights going a little longer but to give your car a cleaner look. Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish: tinyurl.com/29vc436a
The GREAT New York State Fair 2024

We went to the Great New York State Fair again this year and it did not disappoint. We made the short drive to Syracuse, NY and had a great time. Unfortunately, we went towards the end so we missed out on some things that were only there at the beginning. Luckily, no matter when you go, there is always plenty to see and do! It may be too late for you to visit this year, but make plans for next ...
NEW TRAIL at the Wild Center - Tupper Lake, NY
Просмотров 1564 месяца назад
The Wild Center has a new trail! The Fen Trail has tons of different ball roll activities. You can buy a ball for $6.00 or rent one (worth it to buy!) and then make your way down the trail and back rolling your ball through all the different chutes and slides. It's a lot of fun and even really little kids were enjoying it. The trail is 1.2 miles round trip and you have to come back the same way...
Paddling Antique Guideboat and Canoe at the Adirondack Experience
Просмотров 4094 месяца назад
We went to the Adirondack Experience to visit their boat house and to try out an antique guideboat and canoe. The guideboat took quite a bit for John to get the handle of paddling. It also felt slightly tippy (it was not going to tip) because it's made to carry tons of weight because people used them to move a lot of gear or animals after hunting trips, etc. It was a really fun experience and o...

We visited the Adirondack Experience for the first time (and have been several more times since!) and had such a great time - it was like being at Disney World. There is so much to see that we couldn't really do it justice in a short video, but we hope it entices you to visit sometime and see it for yourself. Guided Canoe Trip at The Wild Center

After a recent visit to the Wild Center in Tupper Lake, we saw there was a guided canoe trip on the Raquette River that was available to visitors (you do have to pre-book). We booked the next available trip! It was a lot of fun. The paddling wasn't too strenuous and they provided everything you need. It was an additional cost but worth the money. Stihl HSA 56 Hedge Trimmer Review

We review the Stihl HSA 56 battery powered hedge trimmer. It's another good one from Stihl. You can't buy the lubricant/cleaning spray in NYS anymore but if you manage to get a can it will probably last a while (unless you trim a lot of bushes).

Thanks for the ride along and sharing your adventures. Glad the weather cooperated.
@douglas_drew We got lucky with weather and traffic!
I haven't gone here yet, i went every year as a kid
@@alanwilliamson6421 I don't know why it took us so many years to finally stop. I even love getting to see the lights driving by on the thruway.
Helpful thanks
Thanks for taking us along.
@@douglas_drew thanks for watching!
You had me at follow the Jello brick road.
Turns out that's what they really call it! I was just making a joke.
Thanks for this visit to the museum. I have been through LeRoy a multitude of times, but never with enough time to stop. As a kid on the farm, Jell-O was always Mom's go-to for sore throats in the winter and holiday salads for the summer, so every time I went by the museum it was "Maybe next time." By the way, a good YT Short for the Penny Farthing @ 4:00 is ruclips.net/user/shortswWTCQbq_vjk?si=_MvUgCCHL6d1AkXz
You'll have to visit the museum next time you go through. It doesn't take a lot of time but it's really interesting.
My middle name is Leroy
It's a good name!
I want to take this ride
@@alanwilliamson6421 It was a really good one! Would have been a little nicer with no rain but was still a lot of fun.
Lovely area. I have never taken the train, but I used to schedule my visits to Malone so that I could drive down Rt.30, Rt.28, and cut across to Rt.26 on down to Rome before heading west. Thanks for taking us along.
@douglas_drew it is a really nice area! you'll have to take the train sometime - it's worth it. Thanks for watching!
This did help, thank you!😊
Interesting on coe Cottage original owner was Holloway Cole but in 1916 Walter D Edmunds author of drums along the mohawk occupied this building very interesting
You would also need to synchronize the second.
Oh-Oh! Crack... 10:00 I was working as a laborer/truck driver out of the central repair & heavy equipment shop at Buttermilk Falls "in the summer of '69" when we built the original footbridge and the observation area at the foot of the falls where you were standing. It is an extremely harsh environment, especially in the winter and during spring run off. We originally had four piers under the footbridge, but a flood took out two of the piers a few years later, conveniently the first and fourth piers, leaving the second and third piers which were heightened a couple of feet with new longer deck spans. This was my second "home" park (I lived at my Grandparents' farm bordering the south rim of the gorge in the early '60s), while my first home park was Robert H. Treman (my parents ran the concessions there during the mid-late '40s/early '50s). I live a few hours away and don't get back often, so thank you for your lovely videos and the memories brought back.
Thank you for watching! Glad you enjoyed them :)
We went for day trip yesterday but missed the tour as we hiked around lake … but will go again next season… have you guys been to camp Santanoni??? It’s 10 mile round trip hike did that last year on our 27 wedding anniversary for our 28 we did Sagamore!!!
@adkbeau you'll have to make it back for the tour. it really was interesting. we cross country skiied at santanoni, which was harder than expected!!
That looked so fun! I love the paperweight!!
How much 7:28
how much for the wheel height? or cost?
guardaralimentosnoabrigo.blogspot.com/2024/10/hike-and-paddle-at-upper-sargent-pond.html
You sound like you think this was a cheap investment but 43000 dollars adjusted for inflation today would be $1,735,413.85
This is true. It's a cheap investment if you're not considering inflation.

Thank you guys.
Just bought one yesterday ! Not that powerful but very handy for small jobs!
I was in the Philippines when the Frank Evans was hit. I still have a picture of the half of the ship they brought back to Subic Bay.
@steveneldred8928 that's an incredible story! thanks for sending the pic!!
@@northcountryexplorers I was aft on the Evans when it was hit. I also served on a Fletcher, Uhlmann DD-687. Taking a trip down memory lane.
Mother's works as a lightweight haze remover. But, if you have heavy oxidation or a peeling clear coat to remove, you'll have to go through a complete sanding process and a high-speed polish with a buffer. I've been polishing headlights for many years. Mother's is a good product though.
I went Sunday. They did a Great Clean up after Saturdays Flooding. Heard They Closed early Sunday. We left just after 7 P.M. they where open to at least 8. Prices are way to high. You could tell most people where not buying much. as they have in the past. It was a disappointment on many levels. Exceptions are the Animals.
@julianneavery6995 We saw pictures of the flooding from Saturday. It's great they were able to get it cleaned up. Crazy. Prices were kind of high. You used to be able to find lots of places selling water for $1. I think $2 was the cheapest I saw this year. The animals never disappoint!!
So who was driving home😜 enjoy your videos
@@dianecote6241 I drove! 😆 we waited a few hours after our last drink before we left. better safe than sorry. thanks for watching!!
I'm going again today 5th time

@@philrock367 maybe some day she'll get to be in one!
The man in the diagram who you say is using a bellows was actually cleaning out the air pipe. The "bellows" were attached to the wheel pit near the river. You are exploring the Village of Adirondac (no "C") not Tahawus. Tahawus was where the 1940's titanium mine was. The MacNaughton house is from the 1840's, and is the only structure left from the MacIntyre Iron Works day. The other houses are not. They were built mostly over the foundations of MacIntyre homes, but built by the Tahawus Club, the first hunting fishing club in the Adirondacks, between 1900 and 1930. I live neat here and thought you'd like to know. One of the better videos I've seen of this place!
Thanks! That's great information :)
Some friendly advice. Spend more time showing the astate!!!!not you two!. I didn't click on this video too see you two I clicked on to see sagamore witch I barely got to see!!!!!!!!!!!!😠😠😠
I'm sorry this video wasn't what you were looking for. This was more about our experience at the volunteer weekend and less about the campus. We do have another video from when we did a tour last year and that shows more of the buildings.
I read about Anne LaBastille from your link in the description. What an interesting woman!
So when are you planning to buy one (canoe) of your own?
@wildernesscanoeassociation we're looking! we've had a few in the past but are looking for a super lightweight one now. those cost a lot more so we haven't picked one up yet.
What happens when the line is 99% used and you want to reload with new. Yours was empty so it was easy to insert new line.
@richardc6932 you have to have it empty to reload. so you have to use all the string or if you have a little left in you'll have pop off the white collar and take the leftover out.
Nope nope and nope to the wire bridges😂😂😂I enjoy your videos!
@@dianecote6241 I'll do heights but not small spaces. Thanks for watching!!
😮😮😮😮😮😮 my palms are sweating. The scariest part for me would have been walking along the wall. That looked impossible! Great video!
You de-burred with grinder without saftey glasses. Took friend to ER because did same thing on metal and got a piece of long metal in his eye. Just missed blinding him for good in one eye. Was horrible. Wear goggles please. Good video otherwise. I still have my DK2 in crate. Yet to put it together. 😂
Yes!! You're right about the safety glasses!
He's not using a true grinder(that operates at fast speed. He's using a battery drill that's not spinning very fast. At that distance to his face and how slow that thing is turning. He couldn't hurt himself if he tried.
One thing to add... removing the white plastic band altogether, I found helps in the operation of the trimmer, and makes it easier to add line when needed
we'll have to give that a try! thanks for the tip 😊
we'll have to give that a try! thanks for the tip😊
Thanks I was struggling before watching the video
Thanks for the video. Good Info provided.
Why do they remove the doors for winter? What takes their place for winter?
I believe they remove the doors to help them stay in good working condition - less exposure to the elements. They put plain doors up in their place.
I have a big yard I wonder if it would work for me
We have just under half an acre and we can get about half done with two batteries. If you don't mind taking a break to wait for them to charge (or have more than two batteries) you'd have no problem. If it's a lot bigger than half an acre it would probably not be a good choice.
Great review!
Thanks
Pretty lakes
I'd say that the trail is not safe.
It was one of the harder ones we've ever done. Lots of scrambling up rocks. As sketchy as it seemed, it's a really well traveled one. We passed a lot of people on it. I did find myself wondering what would happen if one of us twisted an ankle (or worse).
That looked very scary 😮. Did you see many people coming down as you were going up? How do you know you are on the right path? Some of It looked impassable to me! Yikes!!!
It was tricky! The trail is pretty well traveled so we could see lots of footprints. And there were markers every so often.
What a great view!
You should come check it out in person!
Amazing engineering of its time. Its a shame these homes are not restored like in Wlilliamsburg.
Agreed! It is a shame the houses couldn't be restored. They were probably in too poor of shape - they were basically collapsed heaps of wood last time we were there.
Ironic that a cool breeze is coming out from a iron furnace.
It felt like air conditioning hahaha
