I just found your channel and have now subscribes. I love seeing how places have changed. I prefer this top and bottom split screen. It's easier to see the differences this way.

Most of these old driving films were done by studios to use as backgrounds like when actors are in a car.

I like the old archetecture and lower density of cars, but the New Cleaner Air ! See how many buildings have been eaten by overpasses, sustainable business like burlap bag company - gone... concrete dividers instead of strips of grass.

It's a 1947 base license plate, that used '48, '49, and '50 metal date tabs. Can't read the tab. '48 & '50 tabs were aluminum color and the '49 is white. I guessing that it's 1948.

If that film was shot in 1942 - 1945, there's a very good explanation for few vehicles on the road and the slow speeds (wartime 35 mph national speed limit).

I've always thought too many trees looks bad in cities. I would much prefer to see more distant landscapes than crowds of trees up close. Like this video, having a bunch of trees sprouting everywhere (some is great) looks comparatively crowded.

When Downtown Los Angeles was a sleepy suburb city in the 40s as I'm seeing pedestrians had sidewalk on the highway

Less traffic and less people make places nicer. If LA could figure out how to deal with overpopulation and also how to improve traffic, it would be a much nicer city as this film reveals it to be. Fascinating! Thanks!
