Hello from Wales. I love the plunger BSA's. I learned to ride in 1973 {when still a schoolboy} on a 1953 BSA A7 500cc Star Twin that had previously pulled a sidecar for 20 years. Bought it from a pal for £15. The first gallon of petrol I bought was 33p. The petrol pump at the garage I went to still had the price in old UK money showing on the pump, pre decimalisation, when there were 240 old pennies to the £, at 6 shillings and sevenpence for a gallon, written as 6/7, or 6s and 7d. Happy days ! My pal, Paul Evans had a Triumph 500 twin with no exhausts at all. My bike just had the downpipes. Paul died suddenly a couple of months ago. We'd been at school together since we were 7 years old. I'll be 66 next month.

Hello, also as it happens from Wales..... pre decimalization, when there were in fact 240 old pennies to the £ (12 pennies to a shilling, 20 shilling to a pound!!).....I know I was there!!! .... My first road bike was a BSA B31 £20.00 paid I think.... sorry to hear of your loss.

Thank you Peter. Ah yes, 240 to the pound, not 144 as I erroneously said earlier. Got my grosses confused with my old wallet contents there for a moment !@@peterwills5533

Great bike. Are you sure you turned the choke ON not OFF?... on my brit bikes with Amal carbs the choke is a cable and pulling the lever the way you did in the video turns the choke off by pulling the choke mechanism upward and out of the way.. like what happens to the slide if you turn the throttle all the way. 4:49 Maybe it's a different style choke than I'm used to.

I believe I turned it on. I may have changed it once I turned the camera off. It always trips me up, like you said they are backwards.

I’m sure my dad knows this trick I’ll have to ask him. He was saying he’s going to get new ones
