Classic Motorcycle AJS 18. 500cc single. Can I start it? Does the dog help?

This is my latest project, an AJS 500. Like me, made in 1960. Also like me, has seen better days, not as fast as it used to be, was never fast in it's prime. Follow me as I try to bring it back to something like it's former glory. I may also try to get myself into shape at the same time. Hope you enjoy it.
