I remember as a teenager in the 80's when I was buying albums like Reign in Blood and The Cult's Electric seeing Andy Wallace's name in the cassette or CD inserts. Almost 40 years later here we are still appreciating his work. Thanks for this
I keep watching every video with ultimate attention. Incredible content. Been a content creator in the past, I know the importance of commenting and liking every post so we can build engagement for your channel. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
awesome ideas! appreciate how you touched on some of the concepts we chatted about in the last vid ... gtr panning, mixing doubles & quads, widening gtrs etc. gonna start using these ideas immediately for thickening doubles & adding width!
Tim was one of a kind... used to love visiting him and listening to my mixes in the A room (9098i mix room). He loved teaching and was incredibly encouraging, before the industry collapsed.
New subscriber here. Very helpful stuff as I get ready to release another record. JP, are you considering a move away from Pro Tools? And if you did, which DAW would you use?
I'm so comfortable with Protools, haven't really considered a move... used to like Nuendo back when it first came out, so maybe Cubase for familiarity if I had to choose. Haven't used any of the newer DAWs.
cool trick! sounds bad ass in stereo, but, I hit the Mono button on my console and to my ears it didn't fare very well (low end and clarity dropped a bunch). could just be me, but thought i'd mention it!
I was hoping this wouldn't be a trick that requires a specific plugin. I have hundreds of 3rd party plugins but am not going to buy any more for a while. I don't know of any other delay that has an input limiter. Heck, I'm not sure I know of another plugin with an input limiter.
wish I knew of another delay that was similar... there is a much cheaper plugin that does similar limiter clipping, which i'll be doing a comparison video for very soon.
What happens if you pan the dry guitars in a bit from full pan and then do full pan on the pcm 42's. Making pcm42's cross delays pan 100% and dry guitars panned 66-80%? Wouldn't that make it wider?
@@JPHenryAudio Roger that! Now that I think of it. With mains full panned as you do, the delayed guitars narrower would add to the depth of field, and give illumination to the backdrop of the soundstage. Cheers!
you’re gonna be one of the greatest audio content creators of our generation.
i'm flattered!! thanks!
@@JPHenryAudioplease do a video about the “wow thing” that randy staub does
@@juniorjacob1812 that's on the short list!! some other cool things with him as well.
i just love how he starts his vids with its historical context. Feels like a behind the scenes rather than a straight up tutorial
Glad you like that! Perspective is important to me

Thanks so much!
Such a suble move but adds so much, thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Loved hearing you mention Tim. Slippy forever! xoxoxox
The best!

Thanks!
thank you!!
Wonderful stuff. Keep it coming!
thanks for watching!
Thought hmmm maybe JP made another video tonight, started youtube and there it was 😃🤘🏼
Awesome video! Thanks a lot.
Very cool. Thank you.
Excellent! Thank you!

baaaaaaaaaaaaa!!
RIP Tim Gilles
I learnt a lot from Slipperman - any stories would be appreciated!

The clipping on the original PCM was over the top
yeah, having the output control on the plugin makes it a LOT easier to manage
Do you think you could talk about how Brendan O Brien mixes drums in a video? Love the vids you’ve been posting
Oh yes! I'm trying to find the right drum track for that one, but it'll be soon.

I like doing this trick, but with 5ms delay, no feedback, fully wet, and only on one side of the rhythms. Wide as hell.
very cool!!

it might! i'll have to try it. Usually want my main guitars hard panned, since they're loudest in the overall mix.

Hi! Do you use it on vocals also?
yep! More as a clean delay, but pushing it into clipping can work sometimes too.
Deconstruct Nirvana please
Great!
