Hi ! I noticed this model has no peghead angle, is this compensated by the slotted headstock ? Could this be secured by using a thicker fretboard ? I'm trying to build me a travel banjo but I don't have precision tools to make a scarf joint, so I'm looking for a solution ! Greetings from France (where you don't seem to ship yet...)
not at all, it weighs no more than 5 pounds. (I no longer sell this model, current models are on my website.) Consider the weight of a traditional banjo in comparison: thick rim, brackets, shoes, hardware, truss rods, tone rings etc.
Zantrop64 oh I see, it is really not difficult at all. Keep in mind the neck is much thinner than a traditional neck, just 1.5 inches at the heel portion. Also consider how rarely you play above the 15th fret in traditional clawhammer tunes
Looks and sounds great/the new features you've added really work well. Can't wait to get mine!!!
You play that amazingly well!
I want to get a banjo kit for my Uncle Mike when Christmas comes.
The Zero fret buzz issue was solved with a tension bar at the nut. All kits come with this modification, no buzzing!

How about a tenor (i.e., 4 strings, 17 frets)?
What's the difference between the normal and deluxe?
How much would you charge for just the neck piece?
Look and sounds great. Like the neck widths. Why did you retire this model? It sounds great. None of the units on your site seem to use steel strings.

this seems a very heavy banjo. do you have the weigh of you banjo

How do you reach the higher notes?
Zantrop64 this entire song is played using only the first 3 frets. That high note you may be hearing is the high-pitched 5th string
Brian Carver i meant that it may be hard to reach the higher frets because of the neck's shape

Larkin Welbaum yes, this banjo is certainly not for everyone! Mountain banjos are very different
I'd like to buy one. But it's not on your site.
I've discontinued this model. I am working on a new mountain banjo kit, it will be available later this year.
I didn't see that model on your site
Jon Cart this model has been retired, check out the current line-up at carverbanjos.com
