Ordered this kit for my future son in law for a birthday gift!! He absolutely loved it. Really enjoy watching you play Brian. It sounds awesome!!! Your little cutie next to you seems to enjoy it too!!
The Foxfire books are great! I picked up a few tips for my mountain dulcimer building back in the '80's.. always wanted to do the mountain banjo but just never got around to it..
I have tried two skins and cannot get the tension you have achieved. Any extra hints on how to get it nice and tight? I've tried following the instructions exactly
Put in the first four tacks, then push the tone ring down into place and put the bottom plate on and look at the skin- it should be tight already. There will be some wrinkles but you’ll know it’s tight enough because it’ll take some pressure to close the gap between the top and bottom plates. Take the bottom plate off and finish adding the tacks, paying attention to work the wrinkle areas out. You can put the bottom plate on and check tension every few tacks. When all the tacks are in it’ll take some pressure to close up the top and bottom plates. The skin will be tight and wrinkle free. Set it aside to dry and it’ll have a nice tension to it. Don’t forget to add wood glue to the inner top lip before you start tacking. Email me and I can send you another skin if you need it
Seem like a nice guy, would like to see you do better in sales which is only a suggestion but Dave up, tool up and build traditional open back and bluegrass instead. Only a suggestion.
I love zero frets on string instruments! I never thought of using a bigger one for that one though. I learn so much by watching your work!
Thanks for watching!

@@brncrvr Awesome stuff, I noticed on your webpage for the mountain banjo you dont have the completed build as an image.
