    I picked mine up 6 weeks ago, before i have been a Hilux fan.....sorry Toyota, but the Raptor is way out in front. Living over in Thailand i can also get the pace up to more respectable levels and with sport suspension on almost all the time it handles the klong bridges comfortably and in control. For those not familiar, these are short, reasonably steep bridges that you often take well over Aust speed limits.

    My fiance and I just sat in the 2023 gen at the little auto show here in Germany. We both loved it! The interior was leagues better than the regular Ranger and so was the comfort. I also just learned Ford is finally bringing it to the North American market as well though that iteration's motor is supposed to have 400hp or around there. Definitely more than what you can find in the UK and here in Europe. Can't wait to drive one!

    Quick tip. On the gen 1 raptor, you can turn off all the stabilisation and traction off if you hold the traction control until it flashes. Make sure the traction control has been switched off before doing this. This make the car much better off road, let me know if anyone is aware of this.

    I have to try driving a Ranger. I often wonder how the Ranger auto compares to the manual especially since Ford are phasing out (or dramatically reducing) the manual version in Australia.

    • @dwaynE2099
      @dwaynE2099 Год назад +3

      You don't miss the manual box in a Ranger Raptor (either generation) because when you select Manual mode on the shifter it goes full manual... doesn't kick back or change up unless you ask it to. The paddles work very well and it's possible to pick the gear most suitable for what you're doing and just float along in that gear... on fast trails or the beach you can just mob along in 5th, 6th or 7th and have plenty of punch and even if you go full throttle at 2000rpm it won't try to kick back a couple of gears and rocket launch you into the horizon.
      A lot of people are dubious of the paddles and think they're a gimmick but when used correctly they're faultless.

      It isn't designed to be a tourer mate... Irrespective of the low GVM it just doesn't have the range for it... My worst fuel consumption so far is 48L/100km over a 70km stretch of bush driving giving it some berries... Day to day I only carry around 100kg of gear and the car has averaged 17.0L/100km for the first 4,000km but I don't care. I'm not into touring and "big" days for me are 500-600km but I go past at least four or five service stations with 95 or 98 in stock so it isn't an issue...
      Realistically it's a toy not a tool... And anybody wanting it to be a draught horse has bought the wrong Ranger.
