New Actors should start out as an extra because it is an easy way to learn how things work on a set and get experience without the anxiety of learning lines and stuff.

I’m a kid actress and don’t have an agent. I’ve been trying to find one and there is one agent near me who has put other kids in big budget productions. ( I’m not talking about movies, I’m talking about musicals) This was very helpful so thank you 😊

K. England i got started in modeling by taking a bunch of pictures and submitting to agencies :)
Also, backstage, the online casting agency is AMAZING! there are hundreds of legitimate casting calls for movies, tv shows, plays, acting workshops and student films. They have great advice from casting agents and directors and it is affordable and user friendly. I LOVE it!
I forgot to add, if you upload Self tapes, directors can watch it invite you to audition or even just go straight ahead to be in something
How do I get an agent without any experience?
You don’t. Period. Take classes. Acting is not easy and it doesn’t get handed to you. Please go watch Wendy Wright’s videos!

So every project is looking for experienced actors, so how do you get experience if you cant even get into a project/film?
Projects with higher level funding are always going to be looking for actors with experience. You have to do things in small steps. The first step is to take acting classes and do some theater and short student films. You use that experience to pick up slightly bigger independent projects and then you compile all of the amateur stuff that you do into a reel, which you can submit to agents along with your resume once you've gotten enough experience in lower tier film and stage. If they think that you have potential, then you may get representation, which gives you access to bigger projects, normally smaller roles in larger scale shoots. And then once you've added some of those to your credits, you keep pushing and using your agent's leads and connections to find bigger parts one step at a time. Some people get lucky and are overnight successes but most have to go through years and years of doing bit parts and building up their connections and credits just to get to the point where they are a full time working actor, and even then they are rarely going to be leads in major motion pictures but rather just smaller scale performers who get steady work.

AAAAAaaaa ok so rn I’m only 12, the reason why I fell in love with acting is that when I was 10 my school had a talent show and I asked a few of my best friends if they wanted to do a play (even though we had no experience). And to my surprise, I LOVED IT! I found it just so fun acting so after the play I kept and kept practicing acting and just fell more in love and now I still really live it. It’s just the thing is that my mom really supports me but my dad, oooo my dad, he always says, “no you’re too young you can do it MAYBE when you’re 15.” So now I need to wait 2 and a half years to really start acting-acting I guess you call it. And by acting-acting I mean like getting headshots, agents, resumes, etc. I feel like it’s so far away :’((

that's the same for me so what i'm doing is signing up for an agency that isn't that big a first then get roles through them then once i have enough roles i'll move onto a better agency
