    • @BelgicaPaola
      @BelgicaPaola  2 года назад +2

      Hello! I do not have personal experience on this but what I always hear from other people and have been in interviews with casting directors is that you would first need to establish yourself as an actor where you live, get representation there, experience and then once you have credits and have honed your talent, you can start submitting to reps in the US that accept people from other countries. I don't know which ones specifically accept talent from other countries but you can do that by researching agencies and seeing how they work. You will also of course have to have sure you have any travel paperwork ready to travel.

    2 questions after watching your video;
    1. Why do people frown on background / stand-in work on your resume if it's really your only exp. - we need to start somewhere, correct? I'm only asking because I've heard it before and curious of the reason why, esp. since it shows you've been on a set before and can understand how it works a bit more than someone who doesn't list it?
    2. Do you have any great example resumes or templates?

    • @BelgicaPaola
      @BelgicaPaola  3 месяца назад

      Hey! Thanks so much for watching. It is almost just as easy to get on a student film as it is to be background or stand-in in many cases. So, I believe it is better to have a student film speaking role than background. When you are background, you do not have any lines, and we cannot truly see your acting abilities. How I see it, having a speaking role, even if it is small shows much more of you and your talents than if you are background and we can hardly see you. This is my opinion. 😊 I should do a YT short on this. I see how it can be confusing.
      Here are a couple videos I did on resumes from years ago. I will make another updated one soon! ruclips.net/user/results?search_query=resume+belgica+paola

    Yeah, I got to be honest. I really disagree with the premise here. You can get working jobs on casting sites with nothing but a few photos of yourself you took on your phone. I booked 2 national commercials through casting websites before I even had a reel. I may have had 1 very short acting clip, and I had gotten headshots. Basically no TV/Film experience at the time, and definitely did not have representation (in L.A.) then.

Not sure if you watched the video, but I made this video so when people do make a casting website account, they don't end up wasting their money for 6 months to a year because they weren't able to put their absolute best foot forward by having these things in place. If you do have representation and are not getting the auditions you'd like to be getting, ask your agent what acting class you should take next, what kind of headshots to get, and what your reel should look like. • @BelgicaPaola

      First, it is very important to make sure your parent or guardian is doing all of the interactions with any potential agents/casting directors or anyone wanting to hire you for a job. I'm not sure how it is in the UK, but in the states, you can submit your headshots and resume online to talent agencies. If you don't have that, you can make your own headshots for now and create a resume with whatever experience you have, plus hobbies.
      Research agencies near you and see what other actors are doing in your area and who they are happy being represented by. Hope this helps!

I recommend you make a free account and see what casting calls they have near you. Once you see that it is worth it for you, you can start the paid account. If you are starting out, make sure you have the things I mentioned. Please don't be disappointed if you don't hear back after applying to 10 jobs. @@BelgicaPaola I am currently at the point now where i want to find representation but my problem I’m facing is finding one near where i live or one that will deal with people from out of state I live in Idaho and my options are very limited and I feel very frightened by the fact that I’m afraid that I won’t find representation and I’m also afraid because I know I’m not supposed to pay upfront when it comes to having representation but I’m just not sure who or what the best approach is

      Hi Mike 😊 since I have not personally experienced this, I may not be the best person to answer but I am happy to share my thoughts to hopefully help! What may be best for you is to get a manager instead of agents since they can help guide you and build your career. Definitely also recommend making a presence online so that you have more exposure and can mingle with peple in the industry online since you can't easily in-person. You can do things like self-tape May (Look into the Podcast Audrey Helps actors) and attend actor events like the Southwest Actors conference to meet people in the industry. You don't have to go to that conference specifically, but look into actor/filmmaker things like that. Film festivals is also an amazing way to meet writers, directors, actors, and other people in the film industry. Hope this helps! I also made this series that goes into soooo many details on how to get started in acting from zero to being a working actor. ruclips.net/video/EwNMVGq6Q4g/видео.html

      I am still learning about how to find managers that are reputable. I would suggest looking on IMBD Pro (paid version) and look at actors that know/admire and see who their managers are. I actually met a few managers at the Southwest Actors Conference and was able to talk to them. I do not have a manager but getting to talk to them and also going to the panel where they answered questions was helpful. All reps do things a bit different as far as choosing who they rep. If you can't go to events in person, you can look for manager interviews online. Once I learn more about this, I will be sure to make a video on it. I might be able to have a manager come on to my channel 😊 I think this would be super helpful.
