Today we take a look at the cube piston door.. A door that is cube shaped. This was one heck of a challenge, but I managed to just about pull it off!

if you stand on the 2*2floor then shut the door it could lift you into the ceiling making it 5 entrances
It is not completely useless, you can use it for a 4 way intersection in a tunnel or hallway

I made my own version which takes up less room and it still compactable in some areas. It's pretty much the same speed but the only thing wrong is when it retracts, the top 4 blocks have to retract 2 at a time so BUD piston stuff doesn't happen (because of the way I did it). I'm still proud because it's the most advanced redstone machine I made myself and you inspired me :)
edit: Fixed it, it's even better.

Isobel G fun fact (not really but..) revolving doors where originally 'invented' to keep large buildings pressurised. as a large building, if it had a single 'normal' door, when opened would create high winds inside the building, making it hard to even walk in to some buildings against the exiting pressure.
would that essentially be a 2 high piston feed tape with disappearing blocks? I think he could make that might be possible.

It's not really pointless, well kind of. Imagine you have a 4 way intersection in your underground base. Instead of putting 4 separate doors you can just put this cube door right in the middle.

Would you please build an upside down cone of redstone lamps that at dawn all the lamps are on, and then they slowly go out layer by layer throughout the day until there is only one layer left on, then at dawn they all light up again in reverse order? I know that's a massive challenge, but it would really help me a lot.

RiverPlasmaHero I think daylight sensors emit different signal strengths depending on the time so you could put dust on each lamp then link them all up to an inverted daylight sensor- I think they will light up top to bottom then go out bottom to top but it only works at night- on bedrock daylight sensors are moveable so you could do a block swapper powered by a daylight sensor between a daylight sensor and an inverted one but not sure whether it would work properly and don’t think that last bit would work on java

for a 3X3X3 i would suggest using like a lolipop shape of blocks around a slime blocks shaft that gets retracted.

Yeah, that was my original thought when I saw this! Probably better than making four piston doors, and it'd be neat to have that in a collab base where each person has their own hallway leading to their part of the base.

Mumbo went to all that trouble and struggled to make a cube door, and after watching this video, I went onto Minecraft and made a cube door very easily. All I did was I made the cube, put four pistons on each side, wired it and flicked a lever. The blocks got pulled to the side and it opened. I flicked the lever again and it closed. Simple. Not fancy, but simple and easy.

a 3X3 nether portal with a 3X3 piston door in its back as the background with its own switch and the nether portal has to be hidden with the click of a button.

mumbo,if you use pistone on the top and maybe the sides,I think u could do the 3x3x3
The hard method would be to pull the entire 27 blocks down (or up) one layer at a time.
The easy method is to pull the top 9 up, the bottom 9 down and for the middle pull the 6 on the sides out.
The complex part is getting the center 3 of the center layer. To make it fancy (and probably a touch easier), the front and back blocks could be pulled out the sides (one goes left while the other goes right) and the absolute core block could then be pulled out the top or bottom.
Or... just have the core of the 3x3x3 be empty, so it is still a cube but there is no center block to worry about.
Of course... to go really fancy, a 4x3x3 door... then when the core row is being pulled out, the middle two could go out on either side and the out two (front and back of the door) could go out vertically (one up, one down). Then, there would be one moment of a staggered swirl through the passage with the player looking through the middle of the swirl.
or... you could just make it so that half the cube goes to the left, the other half to the right, and DONE :D

Mumbo you went at this all wrong, just play a sticky piston facing upwards with an iron block on it, and a lever to power the piston. Boom. Perfect 1x1x1 *cube* piston door.

Next redstone video can you make it similar like that, but more like under a 2x2x2 base statue that gets pulled into the ground to reveal a hidden passageway. If you make this I can implement it into some of my adventure maps and I wouldn't have to work my poor little brain too much harder than it is currently with the map. This is a perfect door for a cross-road that you can enter from any of the 4 directions. Also it can act as a makeshift elevator-door for the cross-road tunnel too

Mumbo, the redstone torch solution is also possible, it's jut that you have to retract the layer 1 piston first so even if it does bud the layer 2 piston, it wont affect the retaction of the layer 3.
Now a 4X4X4X4 door. You're gonna get a nobel prize if you even manage to do that, a door that goes through time!

Imagine walking outside and seeing a cube just dissapearr into the ground. Also, if you're willing to sacrifice entrance from the roof, you could just use a not gate to power pistons that push against all blocks on the roof and floor. Simple redstone life!

Tecnically, if in 3 dimensions we use doors based on two dimensional shapes, in 4D you should use 3D doors. Unluckilly MC is just 3 dimensional.

Ryan Now not really. Of course our universe has only 3 spacial dimensions and our concept of time fits as a non spacial 4th dimension, but theorically more spacial dimensions are possible. As for every moment in time there's a 3d space, we could take a line which is outside of 3d space and time, and for each point of that line there would be a different 3d space with is own time, giving us a total of 5d. If instead of a line we use a 2d plane, we would have 6d and so on. Cool and good.
