She is a Minnesota girl. And I saw her perform in Mpls early on. She was hysterically funny. I think talking about her depression is brave. But she needs to talk about more then just that. Both my siblings have mental health issues. And I get so tired of dealing with all their issues that arise in a minute, hour, day, month and year. I want a escape from it for the duration of a video, not be dragged thru more. I go to RUclips videos to take my mind off my reality. @@atownlefttrain Yes... I think so..? I have what I like to call "good seasons". So at least 6 months a year I'm great... well, I'm ok.. (not necessarily consecutively either). But, I make the most of my "happy" periods.. I recently turned 30, so at this point in my life I focus on doing only what makes me feel good. Focus on the few things I enjoy and do my best to make myself happy.
If you have any hobbies or interests, embrace them.. Take advantage of every little thing you can, and that will get you through. That, and don't feel bad for how your brain works. We all (even "normal" people) have to get through awful, mind numbing, soul crushing BS on a daily basis; But, those of us with depression or anxiety (or a slew of other disorders) we have to fight a little harder.. We go through our own periods of "hardship", and once you recognize those you will be more prepared to combat them. I throw myself into napping and scrapbooking, try to go see bands I love (even if I leave after the first song) and force myself to do things that make me feel good (like volunteer with rescue animals). You can "beat" mental illness and it does get easier once you know how your brain works and your moods effect you.
Good luck, it takes constant upkeep, but it is worth the effort.

Catfish Vodka The rude one all depends on the tones in which you read the comments in. if i decided to interpret living under a rock as an actual insult i could see where youre coming from.
The only actual aggressive and insulting one is you. Not everyone is as unevolved as all that, so dont assume my tone.
A sane person sees basically "Shes good!"
      "Yep!"
      Then whatever you are

Cody S The difference is that now you're trying too hard to be offensive and edgy in order to make a point, while your first comment was just genuinely being a douche. The original guy didn't even say he didn't know about Maria before lmao.

The spoon 🥄 theory. If you are having a ten spoon day great, if you are only have a 2 spoon day than that's how much you can get done....pushing past that point consistently will deplete you and lead to illness/accidents.

Maria is one of the most brilliant comics i've ever experienced. He ful-throttle empathy could only conclude in the kind of sadness that could result in taking control of her life thoughts. It's a daily struggle. If she reads this I hope her all the best and want to say thank you, for opening, and walking through a door that most are too afraid to even glance at.

Fuck, I LOVE Maria Bamford. One of the most original and pleasingly strange comics of all time. Up there with Mitch Hedberg. I remember when she first came on the scene. I was weirded out and enthralled at the same time. Absolute genius. She sucks you into her stories and you can see hear and feel every moment of her nakedness. A true artist. I wondered where she went and missed her. Now she is back. Rock on, Darlin.

I gotta give her so much credit for being real and honest about mental health stuff... her honesty helps to combat the “hush hush” stigma around it... and gives other people permission to do the same... we are all doing the best we can and sometimes we just need a little extra help... I’ve been committed twice and no it’s not fun, but some parts of it can honestly be really funny when you look back objectively with the right frame of mind... and to take an uncomfortable situation and be able to see the “funny” in it and allow yourself to be open about it and even make others laugh about it is like transmuting the whole thing to a higher vibration, but ps yeah those raggedy ass gripper socks suck...

Best live performance I’ve ever seen was Maria Bamford in Nashville sometime in the 00’s. She absolutely burnt down that stage, almost all with material I’d never seen in a special.
“I met a woman who was a sex therapist over the phone...how does that work? “Oh yeah? Does that feel good?! Put it in there more!!!” or something...somewhat...similar...to that...I think...”
Bamford is one of the best of all time, and wears her heart on her sleeve. She is a brave, talented woman.

Heart wrenching real life, lived experience, ‘laugh at yourself’ revelatory material, cushioned from being ‘too much information ’ by her amazing voices and acting, with that great timing , that just rolls out incredibly dark stuff, plus her commentary on the venality of others ... you can feel the jugular pulsing. It’s all so close to the surface and all held in perfect tension. 20% of Maria is best value ever x
