I hope that Sadiq Khan loses the mayoral election. Crime has risen exponentially since he took over. The Metropolitan Police have come to be seen as a political force during his Mayoralty. ULEZ is deeply unpopular and, as with everything Mayor Khan does, it is not as "honest" as it appears. His idea of cleaning up the air is excellent but, of course, it has a subtext and one can pay to not keep it clean and that has a whiff of corruption.

The imposition of ULEZ will certainly reduce support for him amongst those who it’s costing very dearly. Much as I support his aim to reduce pollution, those on lower incomes who can least afford to buy newer vehicles meeting the ULEZ emissions criteria will be far less likely to vote for him. I think he’ll still win but with a smaller majority, mainly because of the loss of support for the Tories nationally.

Compared to the polls though and compared to, say, Andy Burnham in Manchester. The polls were showing a big victory for Khan. I just think London is still a lot more Tory in its politics than some now think, especially since Brexit. The Tories have 9 Assembly members. Hardly a wipe out. Bailey got 45% of the vote, a pretty big minority vote, for a city that some now refer to as a Labour city. In Liverpool the Tories got less than 20%. Now that's a Labour city, or at least a very anti Tory one. If the Tories run a good candidate then I definitely think they could win, potentially. Where as in Liverpool or Manchester they could put up the greatest candidate ever and still lose.

ULEZ is the VAR of London politics. Everyone says they hate it, but they still watch football in the end don't they.
Plus the Tories are like the Omnidroid in the Incredibles punching holes in itself.
Sadiq has been a much more effective mayor than Johnson before him. Especially looking at the finances even after the Tories imposed cuts.

Those who live in the Home Counties can't even vote for him, the worry is people in places like Bromley and Havering which still identify with Kent and Essex respectively, despite not being in those counties for 60 years

And would a Tory mayor remove ULEZ? Of course not as it’s a national policy. I bet if they get in the charge doubles and the classic car exemption goes.
