“Enraged in like a complicity” hit me on a spiritual level
Judas priest lyrics...
666th like
thank the ai
wtf judas priest is not even prog
I love death note too
This’ll be on the new Dream Theater album as a bonus track
Sounds so dream theater it hurts
Kmac better get a guest solo on the song.
@@matty4941 wym this doesn't sound like Dream Theater at all
@@matty4941 in what way?
@@matty4941 it sounds like very few modern DT stuff, something similar to Unethered Angel.
But ut doesn't sound like old DT at all, that stuff was very very technical, so technical you needed like 5 listens to start appreciating it
Very creative and groundbreaking music. Truly this is art. Why can't ALL other modern nusicians understand that THIS is what real music is. Smh. I was born in the wrong generation.
Pink Guy reference?
@@gustanoid yeah but Pink Guy was referencing real actual reddit using teen child that is DEFINITELY the audience for the kind of songs that Rudy is parodying in this video
@@michaelnajoan5104 thats cool and all but why so aggressive lol
@@michaelnajoan5104 Jesus Christ cares about you :" )
Jesus Christ took away my years long chronic breathing issue that plagued me every single night, instantly in prayer :" )
Such prog. So atmospheric. Such lyricist. Confused emotions. I cry every time.
Same! I cry, but never know why, the song confuses me too much XD
I'm still crying. So much poggers.
Cringe comment.
Yeah I sure do love to cry in 15/16! In the first 8/8 I choke a bit, and when the next 7/8 comes in order to make the song weirder(they could use another 8 but wanted 7) I truly cry!
Wait I didn’t know Rudy was a leading influence in the modern prog metal scene
I shed a tear at that fantastic skeletor narration about the colossal wizard, amazing job Rudy
rudy is the equivalent of those reddit / imgur posts claiming 'hey guys I just learned the concept of painting' and then they produce the Mona Lisa .
almost forgot this was a guitar channel, i was like damn this Rudy guy's got some hidden talents
A great song by a great band, Theam Dreater
This is actually a great solo.
It's an okay solo, not bad but absolutely nothing good. Rudy's made some pretty dope shit, this was just him doodling for the video
@@KingBarney how do you know?
@@pizzarand Because this solo was pretty simple compared to a lot of what he does. The solo in his "when you play a wrong note" video was dope af
@@KingBarney I don't think that it was that simple. Furthermore simple doesn't equal bad. I think it was very fitting for this video and a pleasure to hear. Do you feel good calling other people's stuff 'not good'?
Generic as fuck
Step 10: repeat all the steps and make longer than 20 minutes, or cut it into 3-6 songs titled “part” in order.
Rudy actually wrote this song unironically, but was too embarrassed to share it normally so he made this video to be like "haha wouldn't it be crazy if someone wrote this song this way" and here we are
I like that the lyrics in the chorus were Master of Puppets with one word replaced, and the last verse was the intro South of Heaven with some replacement. Nice touch 🤣
The Verse was basically Painkiller - view owrds exchanged
@@favit137 Hahaha, I figured it was a song as well, just couldn't remember which one. Guess I should brush up on my classic metal
He did use an actual lyric generator though. I remember using it and thinking the lyrics sounded familiar.
Wonder why.
@@AndrewDrewJamison I think those generators base them off of certain songs for each genre, so if he set the generator to metal, then it probably just picked some popular metal songs and exchanged some words haha
Mustaine licks too
Behind the scenes of new Rumbdy Aiouph album?!
Bonus step: hire a bassist who plays a Dingwall/Warwick bass and uses Darkglass Electronics.
Yessir
Gruvgear Fretwrap
...to play the basslines you composed in midi using Eurobass.
Hits to close to home. Thanks.
And then just program the bass
This is how Rudy revealed himself to the world as the ghost writer for most prog bands I listen to.
I unironically like this song 😂
same
Hey Boris the animal
Let's agree to disagree
@@kinjaldas225 ITS JUST. BORIS
the solo was actually good 😂😂
“A collossal wizard nestled somewhere in time” straight bars
That solo sounded like Petrucci more than DT's last release
Man has made so many memes, I almost forgot he's actually a kick-ass guitarist.
New Dream Theater sounds great
bro this is Imagination Cinema
Still a better love story than Twilight.
P.S. The solo was noice.
It's 2021 dude get over it
On a more serious note, the guitar solo was pretty sweet. Need tabs
Thanks bro, try learning it by ear its pretty simple
Why do people beg for tabs for solos? It's not like there are any chords and arpeggios. Literally just listen and pay attention. Slow down the song if you have to. Learning a solo on your own by ear is half the fun.
The beginning of the solo sounds exactly like something Opeth would do. 2:22 - 2:26. The ethereal chords were actually really good!
Sounds like Dirge for November (around 2:42 in the song)
Because that style of chord choices is literally every opeth song from 1999 to 2005
“Master of thought I’m pulling your strings” lol
Accurate. I wanna see a speed writing collab with Rudy and Bradley Hall
YES
So with each step I was like "ok this is gonna be litteraly any Haken song ever" and damn I didn't think it would be so accurate
i felt this so much. Especially the lyric part.
Sounded alot like dream theater aswell
Yea buuuut this sounds nothing like haken. Like not even close. I could see dream theatre though
Exactly, it sounds just like Crystallised and Cockroach King, the solo sounds like Portals mixed with Canary Yellow, you are spot on sir.......
@@billmurray7676 I don't mean to cause a heated argument here but cockroach king? There is zero riffage or ethereal lines. The main verse is just the singer and him overlaying some vocal tracks. Theres a weird buildup that leads to a jazz section and fusion solo neither of which sound anything like what was played here. Canary yellow has a clean guitar but again no riffage or solos like we see here. Im only saying this because hakens one of the few prog bands out there pushing the envelope and ynow actually being prog.
You should do whole albums just parodying different genres
Wow, "dream circus" is looking good.
Basically depression in 3 steps.
1. Watch a Rudy Adobe video
2. ???
3. Depress
Some of those chords were pulled straight from every DT song ever
I've never heard more deep and impactful lyrics.
I know you can be overwhelmed, and you can be underwhelmed, but can you ever just be ... whelmed? As of now, yes, yes you can.
Richard Henshall has entered the chat
That first riff would've actually gone hard as a RATM type thing
Now that you've mentioned, I soubsconsciously expected yyyHEEEERRRAAAARR
Or Cowboys from Hell gone soft. :P
@@ilovewubwubs47 Cowboys from Heck?
I found the exact lyric generator you used and I love how "Enraged and like a (x)" is the best line even still
Okay, not gonna lie, that chorus sounded GOOD.
Between the Buried and Me has been real quiet since this dropped.
Ruby doing everything he can to tell us he’s a good guitarist without making it look like he’s telling us
while trolling average guitar players half his talent?
This is basically the annual video of Rudy reminding us he can actually play the instrument his channel is all about
And btw the solo is dopeee
I love how he actually never uses the low string
As an instrumental, this is actually pretty decent.
with just slightly different lyrics I would unironically listen to this so much😭i can't get enough of stuff like this
That solo buildup was actually good eith the vocals imo
0:58 - How is this a cheesy buildup for a solo?
2:09 - Ok, I get it
It’s nice to know I’m not the only dt fan who really thought the new song was kinda generic
It sounds like any new generic "prog" song. Like a compilation of riffs
Maybe is just the fact they´ve been doing it for more than 30 years (and many other bands), and so creativity is more like re-enacting what you already did with variations. With highly technical, specialized music (or any art) is just the way it is: don´t expect too much diversity from Tim Henson either, for example: what you already got is what you will be hearing for the next two decades or more.
“Master of though I’m pulling your strings” do be a kinda a raw line though.
1:53 amazing dream theatre impression right there haha
When you realize that the lyrics before the solo were basically a parody of Slayer’s South Of Heaven
Is it really “progressive” anymore if its become so formulaic?
That's the reason Robert Fripp asserted at some point that progressive rock died in 1974, when critics and musicians alike started to codify it and establish rules for it. Maybe a bit extreme, but he had a point.
well, progressive can also mean that the songs progress and build itself more than pop music, not necessarily that they are innovative or break the rules of music
@@maaaaaap That's a funny definition but it's not what progressive music is. Prog is based on incorporating elements of other genres and pushing back the frontier of the one you're playing. It isn't supposed to break rules, that's experimental.
it's not
@@irokosalei5133 weird, i've always interpreted the term prog the same way @määp does
really enjoying these tutorial videos Rudu, keep em coming
"Master of thought I'm pulling your strings"
Lmfao XD
dream theater been real quiet since this dropped 👀
I'm into prog so much that I'd definitely listen to this unironically
2:22 sick solo
That jazz in between is awesome, great video
"And the goliath darkness arrives" god that's deep
You really seem to be in your element here Rudy. I'm happy for you.
That chord change around the two and a half minute mark really hits the spot. (with the arpeggio assistance, of course)
"Master of thoughts I am pulling your strings"
Be careful Lars is watching 🤣🤣🤣
The fact he can look at the camera while he plays shows he knows what he’s doing..for the most part.
Still better than the new Dream Theater
Yes
no
yeeeaaa noo i meaan uuhh fuk...
the new single is pretty fire tho
Mangini was pretty good and Myung played some interesting stuff but honestly chorus was boring and what was that "aliiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeennnnn" like come one .
I live in Goliath darkness. It's a lovely place, glad to hear it getting a little recognition at last.
The part about wizards and shit was pretty dope
love your 'content' Rudy
I know right isn’t it ‘great’
This is literally the new dream theater song
THE PAINKILLER LYRICS LITERALLY KILLED ME
Bruh the solo was actually very nice I wish I could do that
Lucretia vibes near the end of the solo and the riff after
Definitely hear it.
As a headless 7 string prog metal guitar player I feel personally attacked
Damn how do you play without a head?
@@yashkatare3303 you need hands, not head
Good
@@yashkatare3303 somebody gives him head when he plays
Do you at least use the 7th string?
0:48 Bleak by Opeth
That solo kicks in at 2:23 - so Scar Symmetry like stuff! I like it!
1:52 Sounds like any Muse song lmao
Actually, step 1 should be "get a John Petrucci signature guitar". Everything else is spot on!
And I actually kinda like this song. If it were performed by a real drummer and singer you couldn't tell it's supposed to be ironic.
Wait, maybe that's the actual irony...?
Nowadays the trend is to get a Kiesel. I'm basically a prog boomer for still having a john petrucci signature
I always come back to this song
WHY DOES THIS SOUND EXACTLY LIKE SOMETHING DREAM THEATER WOULD WRITE
Ty for this. I'm now superior to the other prog heads who aren't sophisticated enough to have already heard of this creative masterpiece.
Rudys' clearly flexing his modern prog metal skills. Made it looked like it's just a joke but we know better.
And now I need a whole album of that
"collossal wizard nestled somewhere in time"
baam thats some epic shit right there
imagine makings a solo, lol
no, wait...
Joke's on you, Rudy. That was a perfectly passable tune.
You forgot the simple rule of having any time signature other than 4/4
Wow! Love the sound when you play the solo
"eventually, they all commit crimes"
*the beauty... is... overwhelming*
Exepriment

Not a bad song for an advert
Jason Richardson be like:
Step 1: doorbells
Step 2: mega riff
Step 3: doorbells
Step 4: mega solo
I'd pay for this album if it had serious lyrics and a good vocalist
no this is just what every. single. dream theater song sounds like
Especially the part about the lyric generator...Petrucci and Labrie have got to be the most generic lyricists in prog history. Portnoy is better, but not that much
@@emalaw1329 lmfao are they even prog anymore? i listened to their new single and i swear it sounds just like anything they’ve done since met 2
@@elijahstewart3231 I've been putting off listening to the new track for a week and a half now, and at this point I don't think I will. I don't have anymore time or interest for songs that get stretched to 9 minutes just for the hell of it.
Yes.. Non dynamic drums in a drum machine... So damn true for DT 😂✨
@@emalaw1329 new between the buried and me comes out friday though and that’s definitely gonna be amazing
the new tacoma narrows bridge disaster album is honestly really good! they do a great job subverting the common prog tropes!
the main riff and solo just sounded like rust in peace styles
Wow this was actually pretty good, I hope all of your guitars break simultaneously!
Rudy saving us from having to listen to Prog Metal, thanks bro.
Is this Dream Theater? That riff sounds like Dark Eternal Night.
That solo is so good it somehow reminds me of "The Drapery Falls" by Opeth.
Ok...I understand your point...Prog Metal Bands are mediocre and stupid...but that song sounds great...shame on me....
I wish you actually tried to sing that, it would still sound awful but in a good way.
1:54 not gonna lie, I unironically like that progression
