“Gladiator” is a glorious glimpse of what you mortal beings will get, when the debut album Reborn will be released on November 16th. Recorded inside the endless halls of Valhalla, produced by Odin himself and mixed and mastered by our forefathers, who died honorably by the sword, this track will crush you all!
THE WARKINGS STORY:
Four kings of war were knocking on Valhalla’s door to spend eternity in the realms of the gods. While waiting for admission, they told each other about the heroic deeds they survived in their lifetimes. Secretly listening to their stories, Odin decided that all living human beings on the Earth should know about these true stories of war and heroism. So he is about to send them back with the mission to spread the stories of their battles upon mankind. The WARKINGS were born and pure and unadulterated heavy metal became their religion.
I love how the lead is dressed as a Centurion, the bassist a Viking, the drummer a Spartan, and the guitarist a Templar, if you ask me this is gonna be one hell of a band

Man the singer's mouth is distracting. In a good way I mean. His dark beard makes it look like the skull is a full mask, so when he opens his mouth it creates this effect like it's coming out of the skull and the skull is his face. I'm not sure if that's intentional, but it's a really cool effect in the right light.
With all the power ranger comments I can't help but think he looks like Rito Revolto as well.

Saw these guys live just two days ago as supporting act for powerwolf and they were actually really good, I regret not having looked into their discography before. Especially the chorus on this song sounded amazing live, very theatric.

Also saw them around a year ago in Barcelona (supporting Powerwolf along with Dragonforce). It was great (though, I am a bit disappointed they have not played Warriors, my favorite their song probably).

I like it. Solid Power Metal, maybe not particularly innovative but very much by the book.
the whole song (literally everything about it, even the voice) sounds like general Hammerfall...imo innovation is the single most important aspect for a memorable debut
AgeofJP I’d say more early 2000’s Hammerfall, when they were still transitioning a bit from Power Metal to Heavy Metal.
Which, while not necessarily something that stands out, isn’t a bad thing. A lot of sort of iconic Power Metal bands transitioned, so it’s nice to sometimes just get that feel back in a band.

Who cares about innovative, I just want good metal. Metal's been half dead since mid 2000s when it fell out of the mainstream (when was the last time there was a metal song in the bilboard top 100?) so any good metal is great in my book.

According to the description, the story of the band is that four great warriors from different cultures and times were about to be admitted to Valhalla, and were passing the time by telling stories of what they did on Earth. Odin was so impressed he sent them back so they could share their stories by singing heavy metal songs about them. That's a pretty awesome backstory if you ask me(edit: albeit rather silly but still awesome), and does explain why each one looks to be from a completely different culture and time period - they *are*.

Nope. Warkings singer is Guiliano Schmidt, whereas Serenity's words are sung by Georg Neuhauser. They do sound very similar, though.

A little history lesson. Spartan , Athenian, Theban, and Corinthian infantry of ancient Greece were called Hoplites. After the , haplon, the Greek shield. Standard weapon was spear. Sword was secondary. Helmets denoted ranks. Helmets with dorsal crest, but without horsehair, was worn by rankers. Warriors out of 7 year training. Helmet with transverse crest of any kind was an officer. A dorsal crest with horsehair, was a senior ranker (an NCO), The most experienced, toughest of the warriors. Best were assigned to be in front rank and on rank wings. NCO's were crtical to maintain phalanx formation under enemy volley , and in when enemy crashed into phalanx.
