All range rover smart keys are aluminium, the tracer on the cutter works with a magnetic so it knows where to stop in the key when decoding, obviously aluminium is not magnetic hence why they always break, same when doing like a plastic vw passat emergency blade.

Was that the im508 that you were using? I appreciate you showing us that learning curve when it comes to doing a vehicle I got you are unfamiliar with. Do you use the XP 400 as well?

A lot of the hu101 emergency keys (inside the smart key) is usually aluminum. On the 2m2 tank the machine won’t even let you cut the key in the normal hu101 for smart key. There’s a special section where it actually uses the probe/cutter as a stop to see where the key is etc. doesn’t use its magnetic sensor. Took me a while to figure that out.

I believe there’s an aluminum/plastic key mode. I don’t remember if it was only available in the cutting menu or not though.

Broke your prob because key is dirty. need clean it by metal brush

It's not because it was dirty it's because it is made out of aluminum and it is not as conductive as a brass key. They will break almost every time on an aluminum key.

Allot of aluminium keys I was cut with dolphin xc-005 no problem. If you was in school you will know aluminium conductive.

I did not say they were not conductive I said its not as conductive. The dolphin has an option for aluminum / plastic keys that and when that is selected it will not use the probe on the key.

The guy is an amateur. Clearly his first time making a key for the car. Professional locksmiths know too well that Jag/Land Rover sources Ford parts and that includes the locks and they would know that the blade was a Ford HU101. But not every locksmith is actually a professional. Lots of street hustlers out there disguised as experts. By the way it's best to cut the blade on a manual cutter. Less of a headache.

It was my first time cutting one. I filmed this about 2 years ago when I started doing keys. I filmed my whole journey learning keys and eeprom.
