I have an 18 wheeler and I have used different acid washes in the past, they all seem to do a so so job. A couple things I have found that helps is one using a pump up sprayer. Using a pressure washer to wash it off and if you read the direction, it says to start spraying it off from the bottom up when rinsing it off. This seems to help eliminate the streaking. I need to go buy some acid wash and do my truck now. I was researching what different ones are out there and what people are saying about them. That is how I came across you video.
You get much better results working in small areas not letting it dry or have bare spots. All you need is a buffer and some rouge and you get better results in less time.
Hey there Dave, I noticed several miss steps in the Sharkhide Aluminum Cleaner application. These errors, although fairly small, when compounded will waste a lot of product as well as give you a streaky finish when you're done. Feel free to give me a ring when you get a chance and I'll be more than happy to go over the Aluminum Cleaner instructions with you. You'll use MUCH less product, and you'll end up with a streak free finish. Clint Bland Flatwater Inc (Sharkhide Products)
***** Hey Dave, It wasn't so much the dilution as it was some application issues. If you try it the way we do it next time, you'll use much much less product, and you won't have any streaking. We use a spray bottle with an Adjustable Tip set on the FINEST MIST POSSIBLE! That's very important. Next we spray on DRY ALUMINUM ONLY! That's very important too. And never do more than about 4 to 6 feet of hull at a time. We mist it on from the bottom up. Once we have that thin blanket of foam all over our area, we stand and watch it. As soon as we see the foam start to brake down and turn back to a liquid, it exposes bare aluminum. At that point we just give that bare aluminum spot a quick mist and another layer of foam will appear. That's all we do is just mist the bare area's as they appear, keep it under that thin blanket of foam for three or four minutes and rinse. Give that a shot and I think you'll be amazed at how little it takes.
You never wore heavy duty gloves. It's streaking because you are spraying willy nilly and not in a small area bottom to top to keep it from running. Sharkhide turns the boat more white than back to original aluminum. The protectent is the best on the market.
sooooo old, job turned out fine. used a lot of it. Spent days getting rid of the original nyalic coating. All's perfectly well I haven't touched it since
Coil cleaner will do the same thing for 10th of the cost .used coil king that is used to clean coils on air units for my aluminum boat turned out great but didnt pay 70 dollars a jug for it lol
martyisabeliever I'll trust the Pro's, thank you. I'm not putting any home made concoction on my 80K boat. I fish I don't play with acids for fun. Over and done and back making $$ is all I wanted. I had to take off Nyalic first.
***** not a home made concoction sir; and very likely the chief components of what is in "Shark Hyde" look up the chemistry behind what you are doing... you are using an acid to break the AL oxide bonds and make them soluble in H2O. Blue Corral Blu Magic works great for the task at hand as well. If you are gonna whine about $ same commitment in elbow grease, I use a low speed, 10" Orbital buffer w/ Terry Towel bonnet with Blu Magic paste after the mild acid wash and rinse.. See ya' Capt... No charter for you ;-)

I was a A/C mechanic for years.....I know. believe this was stronger. L-O-L
great info, Thanks for the real life demo.
of course every one says I did it all wrong. But it worked and looked okay for me. This is a working boat, not a "look at me because I'm cool" boat.
Nice boat

10% Muriatic Acid mixed with distilled H2O or Citric Acid will do the same thing.

Ok no need for that. I was simply asking as I did not see a title.
