I like the stuff. Expose it to chlorine for like a week. When I would put my chlorinator away for the winter any exposed metal will rust within a few days. just a suggestion if you really want to speed it up. The sticker deal gives me a few ideas. Keep it up Kyle
Seems to me that a lot of people haven't heard of it or used it before and that's a big factor with all the skepticism. I don't think it's so much of a matter of distrust, but a matter of wanting to see the example of the product in action and how it's used before dropping that much cash. Thank you for doing the test! I know I'll be watching to see what happens.
Keep those good videos coming for every hater or shit talker commenting on your videos there are 20 to 30 times more of us easily who really appreciate and look forward to you videos!!!!
Back in the day I use to operate a 5/8" shear Now that was hard work! Don't drop a piece on your toe!! I want to try Sharkhide on some anodized aluminum trim that's been lightly polished
I'm actually going to test this stuff out on a fender on my car. No worries it's already banged up. I've been looking for something like this for a while now.
It sounds like you have had better luck than I did. We used a flaming river steering column in the 2JZ 65 Mustang, and it came as bare steel. Wanted to keep the bare/brushed steel look as we had a few other things in the interior with a burst finished... So Prepped it, applied sharkhyde, and it flash rusted within a couple weeks in a few spots. The car was garage kept. Maybe it was because it was a high wear item and was exposed frequently to the oils of human hands? Will be interested to see your results
+🔥Ramsey Customs - turbocobra hmmmm. I have never had any issues. Jeb at Cutworm uses it on all the bare spiked lug nuts he sells and all is bare metal hot rods he builds.
I don't doubt your outcome, but why not do a video on how this piece of metal came out... Say a slide video over a time lapse. I am a newbie to SnapChat and really had no luck finding your follow pics on this little metal test... Keep the great videos coming out...
I think what you have to understand is that the Internet is where most snake oil is sold and people over the years have become skeptical to a product that seems too good to be true. It's not so much a measure of distrust placed on you alone. It's a measure of distrust placed on what we see on the Internet in general. Look at it this way, if people are watching your videos with skepticism that's a good thing. It means your target audience is intelligent. Can't wait to see the results!
I totally believe what you were saying about it in your tool review I was just curious. Your channel rocks your're a stand up dude thank for the video. I will be following you on the ole snap chat fo sho.
I have just watched this and was wondering I am in the proses of servicing my front forks on my motorbike and the lacquer is in pretty poor shape, so do you think this product would be any good on the alloy if I was to polish them and not re-lacquer them?
Yo boss! I got a quick question and I definitely trust your input for this. I got some 1.75" 18 gauge steel exhaust tubing that's been mandrel bent and i was wondering what's the easiest way to cut the tubing? I obviously expect to do some clean up before welds but I don't want to mess up any of my nice piping. Any idea? Thanks for your time!
Ive been interested in this stuff, looking to use it on a few potential projects, but just turned off by the possibility of the metal finish going to hell a week after.
Dave we have used it on Polished intake manifolds/valve covers/timing covers/heads/etc... You shouldn't have an issue, although around the exhaust primaries you may have it burn off.
+The Fab Forums Its not that I don't trust you, its just that I don't trust anything said on April first and your Friday fool, was April Fool, I'm sure you can understand the confusion...
Great. We use it on pontoons all the time, Bennington actually coats every boat that goes out. Also use it on a ton of other aluminum products, like valve covers, intakes, etc..
whell i guess we seen our share of snake oil salesmen to be weary of new products think you get better results if you trow a piece thats been treated intoo salt water hmmmm wat you said i think its putting some sort of coating on there preventing air and rust from reaching the metal we have a paint thats like that , www.werkenmetmerken.nl/img/noverox.png_533_800.png it goes on milky white and turns black once it comes in contact with bare metal
Your the real deal .....I like that metal test you are doing for all the haters....Thanks Don M.
+Donald Marland thanks
Hey Kyle, whatever happened to this test? Do you still have it? Be curious to see what it looks like now.
Agreed I was looking for a follow up
I won't be going over to snappity chat to see the rest of the story.
Too many hoops.

+macster5187 I could understand if I was trying to sell it. Not much reason to recommend a product other than I think its bad ass

+piervalsa I agree

+jameannohere sweet...let me know how it does
+The Fab Forums will do

+The Fab Forums Cool probably something I was doing wrong in the application process.
You will get a cool sign out of the deal too. I can't imagine why anyone would think you make this stuff up? LOL!
+Tim datoolman lol I know right!
I don't doubt your outcome, but why not do a video on how this piece of metal came out... Say a slide video over a time lapse. I am a newbie to SnapChat and really had no luck finding your follow pics on this little metal test... Keep the great videos coming out...
I have shown the progress in several videos over the last year. Will try to do an update on it soon

+4sf3d4g63 I agree. I have no reason to recommend something that I dont believe in though.
so just apply on new truck rims and its all you need to protect them ?
well......yes and no. It would protect them but the problem is that unless you spray this stuff on it may not be perfectly uniform
The Fab Forums so just spray each wheel and wipe it off? or let it stay on wheel.
@@dunnoyolo2238 You would spray and let it dry. There is an aerosol for stuff like that.
I have no clue what Shark Hyde is! Some metal protector? I guess, I will find out....someday!
I totally believe what you were saying about it in your tool review I was just curious. Your channel rocks your're a stand up dude thank for the video. I will be following you on the ole snap chat fo sho.
+Jeffrey Fledderman cool thanks
I don’t have snap chat. How long did it last?
What's the update on this piece of metal?
Still have it...still looks basically the same. The edges have some rust, Im guessing because I didn't coat the edges well enough.
This stuff is awesome though...I use it on everything
Can you do a short video of an update on it so people can see the difference?
@@micolivares1 I can include an update within an upcoming video for ya
Awesome 👍
well did it work 4 years later?
I totally believe what you are saying a bout it. what about painting over it though do you have to remove it to paint ?
+Fred Sitzenstock not sure on painting over it
Wonder how this would work on a polished / chrome plated header. My manifolds keep going to shit after i polish them
+dawg316 I think it would well on polished aluminum....probably wouldnt hold up on a header
I have just watched this and was wondering I am in the proses of servicing my front forks on my motorbike and the lacquer is in pretty poor shape, so do you think this product would be any good on the alloy if I was to polish them and not re-lacquer them?
yeah maybe

I obviously expect to do some clean up before welds but I don't want to mess up any of my nice piping. Any idea? Thanks for your time!
+Torey Smith I like to use a band saw or my chop saw.
+The Fab Forums thanks brotha I really appreciate it!
Ive been interested in this stuff, looking to use it on a few potential projects, but just turned off by the possibility of the metal finish going to hell a week after.
+DJ Inclined stay tuned
Is it still rust free?
it is
Can you paint over it or would you have to sand or strip it off?
Probably need to remove it
Would ya upload a video of the after, results since I don't use snap chat
+Roof RT yeah I could do that. I have shown in several videos since that video but not a specific video follow up
Could I use this on my hand tools and bench vise to protect them?
for sure...it works great for that
i was late to the snapchat join.. how's this stuff doing? does it work similar to picklex? paintable, weldable, etc?
it works amazing....a little more permanent that picklex
do you think this stuff will hold up to the heat of some aluminum cylinder heads? I dont want my new AFR renegade heads to get all nasty looking
+dcstang67 not sure
Dave we have used it on Polished intake manifolds/valve covers/timing covers/heads/etc... You shouldn't have an issue, although around the exhaust primaries you may have it burn off.

+Kold Kustard gotcha....didnt think about that
I was re-watching this, and saw an Xcarve have you done any videos with it?
+Jason Andrade yeah I have done several. Just made a video of me making a carbon fiber bracket for the goose
Is there somewhere we can see the pictures if we don't have snapchat? I'm very interested in this for my 47.5 chevy
you have instagram?
I do, just recently actually.. Yeah yeah, I'm old and late to the party on that one, HA!
I looked on your IG and didn't see the piece. I'm white_frijoles
you said cold roll no scaling on your sheet metal I don't know what you meant by that .
+Salvador Hernandez some stuff is rolled while hot and it leaves a scaling on the surface that tends to protect it some from rusting.
+The Fab Forums ohhhhhhhh OK
I dont have Snapchat
What does this look like now in 2018?
Its still the same. It sat outside for about 8 months... I show it in this video ruclips.net/video/Iteikc0TOBs/видео.html
hi Kyle can you give us an update with the experiment please
I will do that
+The Fab Forums thanks :)
The Fab Forums sss
Hey bud how is the bare metal test piece doing?
Its still doing good....I occasionally show it in some videos
I just like to see the cost and effect that's all
+Jesus Hernandez I gotcha
Very cool
How’s it do on aluminum?
Great. We use it on pontoons all the time, Bennington actually coats every boat that goes out. Also use it on a ton of other aluminum products, like valve covers, intakes, etc..
Ten minutes of talking without seeing any results…
but.... That's not how you apply SharkHide
Its the way I do it
Thank you.
whatever happen to the plate
I still have it hanging on my work bench
Cool Can wait for you to let us see it again.
whell i guess we seen our share of snake oil salesmen to be weary of new products
think you get better results if you trow a piece thats been treated intoo salt water
hmmmm wat you said i think its putting some sort of coating on there preventing air and rust from reaching the metal
we have a paint thats like that , www.werkenmetmerken.nl/img/noverox.png_533_800.png

+watahyahknow I get it. I actually exposed it to salt water in hopes of speeding up the process.
Like your shears!
+OldDog NewTricks thanks. they work ok
muy bien. saludos.
Bruh, rubber gloves... :)
