I just got done hand sanding and polishing the big aluminum utility box on my semi. It was an old one the company put on, heavily oxidized and a lot of pitting. Cleaned to whole thing off with some brake cleaner. After that I sprayed it down in WD-40 and knocked off all the oxidized layer with a 240 grit scotchbrite ball, then hand sanded working my way all the way up to 2000 grit, using WD-40 and wiping it down between grit changes. Finished off with some Mothers Mag & Aluminum polish and now I can see my reflection. Still quite a bit pitted and dinged up in areas, but it certainly looks a lot better all shined up.

not bad at all! I have a Pontoon boat, and when we acid wash the toons, they lose their milled or grained look to em... Nobody has ever shown how to get that look back. Closest I've seen is the Shark Hide guy doing a Grained or hand rubbed finish with some different grade scotchbrite pads.. But i bet this would be so much better!! I believe I heard some where that the finish on pontoons from stock is 600 grit ???

Great Video, I am polishing a plane nose to use indoors for mancave. After polishing, do I need to seal it? if yes with what ?

Great question. There are clear coating products on the market that can help with this.

All you really need it wD-40 and steel wool.
That machine is useless on anything that isn't flat.

Actually it works really well on irregular surfaces with our nylon brushes, sandpaper and scotchbrite flap wheels. Thanks for the feedback!

thanks for the feedback. The Restorer is a linear polisher so you won't have to worry about swirl marks on the surface :-)
