As a player returning from initial release around 2013, this guide is epic. Really have a clear understanding of what is required for a legendary, thanks! So much to do in GW2 it's insane.
It really is a good guide. Its just an insane daunting task especially if you dont inject money or have connections in the game. If you play with a full group of friends itll be alot easier going.
Yeah, there really is A TON to do. The best part is that you can easily set your own goals, usually guided by achievements and/or crafting requirements - but there is no "must".
I told my wife that I was going to make the Dreamer shortbow (because I like shortbow ranger). She then mentioned that it was the most annoying sound ever and I was sold. Definitely creating it now, she knew exactly what to say.
I really appreciate the "you don't have to be good at wvw" thing because that is the part that tends to scare me off the most :b ........................ now I just gotta get over the "no patience for farming" and "constantly becoming poor from the gemstore" parts~
WvW is actually really fun. After you die 100th times. You start to either not giving a shit or play thief ( so no one can see you )and it becomes fun.
I've been playing since beta, but I only started working on a legendary recently. I never intended to make a legendary, but then I saw Nevermore. IT MUST BE MINE! So now I'm chopping down trees in every level 80 zone, because apparently natured-themed legendaries require massive deforestation...
"Massive Deforestation" Lol. That's not even CLOSE to how much wood you (and I as well, by the by) need for this staff. It really is an ungodly amount.
I made the twilight many years ago, I was just playing the game and having fun and one day I realized I had most of the ingredients to craft it, only had to buy the prec.. great times
I just went ahead and bought the starting recipes for all the legendaries. The result was a lot of progress with just my normal casual play. It's actually kinda fun having random pings pop up about completing another step towards a legendary. However, now that I'm getting close to completing step 1 for a few of them, I want to actually spend some time getting those last few items to progress to round 2. As such, it becomes a fun quest that I have waiting for me when I tire of killing world bosses and grinding dailies.
Saito Hiraga I can agree, but then again I bitch about running out of stuff to do, and mam is it a great feeling of accomplishment when you do it. It’s worth it for the visuals alone for me. If it was just stats or visuals I wouldn’t care. But it’s both and more!
Saito Hiraga not sure bout ascended, got my full asc set in 2 weeks (armor weapons trinkets) just craft everyday, and if you have a friend to craft it for you it also helps alot. Play lots of fractals to get equipment chests and legies should take ages, they are luxuries and if you want them you need to work for it. I got mine and felt really accomplished. Legendaries are hard work but the satisfaction is worth it
First time i see this sort of guide, really nice. Also make sure to always pick the legendary chest at the end of the month and your daily log in. Even if you are not gonna do a legendary now but later you will be super happy that you did this and dont have to farm for it or gamble in the mystic forge.
Regarding the gift of battle, I would like to mention that you can also do WvW dailies to get reward potions that helps building it faster (80 potions needed to complete a full reward track). As a bonus you also get the daily completionist which gives spirit shards needed for the bloodstone shard.
Please, please, please keep making videos like this! I've been playing this game for years, have tons of saved gold and resources, but never understood crafting in this game at all. I love easy to understand videos like this!
9:39 that sigh right there had me laughing, every step you complete just leads to more stuff you need to do and many of the gifts are rabbit holes themselves with all the crafting smaller stuff into bigger stuff 😂I have had a lot of fun with the collections I have done, Twilight (finished) and Nevermore (only have the expensive parts of the gifts left..) and for me, seeing them as large side projects that I slowly works towards while doing things I like is largely what helps me going. I've had guild mates in the past that hardcore grinded for a legendary and lost interest in the game while doing so.
Great guide with good humour, tone and information! I gotta admit I laughed out loud at 7:14 because of how relatable it was. Biggest dilemma ever! The music, voice and the timing of sound effect were perfect. Haha!
Very nice direct and concise guide. One thing that I can add is powercrafting. Made a total of 6 legendaries ( 4 gen1 + 2 gen2) and recently sold 3 twilights in 2 months. The trick is finding a niche market to sell stuff. For example, I used to sell rare (krait prefix) greatswords for mystic toilet gambling and it allowed me to make gold while doing what i want (no mindless grinding required). Place your orders for mithril ores, elderwood logs and t5 mats before you sleep then craft the next day. Bulk crafting takes about 20-30 mins then sell to tradepost by "slightly undercutting" other players. With 2 accounts (thanks old friend!) I started both with 200g and crafted twice a day. For 1 hour of daily crafting nets me 50g to 70g after sales and even more during weekends. Rinse and repeat. Powercrafting greatswords may not be as lucrative as before so it is up to you to find that niche market and get that shiny!

so far I've crafted Exordium (my first legendary) and Meteorlogicus. After I finished Exordium I make it a point when asked about legendaries to let people know that if they're wanting a Gen2, prepare for pain. You better love it in every way, shape, and form... cause legendary shards and the materials for them will put you on the brink of insanity. After crafting a Gen2, doing a Gen1 was child's play easy. I'm glad to hear the Gen3's will be more like crafting a Gen1.
I have been playing this game for years and I am still learning I bought Heart of Thorns and Path of Fire when I ran out of places to go to on the main map so I really get surprised when I look at these videos and learn about the mystic forge and all the thing that I make I have four toon character all Level 80 will be making more in the future. really love this game for its architecture in comparison to other games.

I am about a few months away from my Kudzu, just need the remaining clovers to complete. I actually received the leaf of Kudzu in a drop about a year ago and almost sold it on TP. I hesitated on seeing what is was worth. I am being patient knowing I can at least get seven clovers every thirty days.
Ah, so that's all you need to do........time to quite my job and get cracking then :P. Thanks for this Muk, its a really good guide, clear and concise and straight to the point. I will be using it a lot when i come to start my legendary journey.
I decided to go with Binding of Ipos for my first legendary and decided to go with desert mastery. Never before have I regretted a gaming decision more than this one because after 2 years of playing on and off I'm still collecting funerary essences.
I dont know WHY I'm watching this, exactly, as I've already made a couple legendaries, but it's somehow validating to listen to you sigh in suffering going through the massive lists, laughs. I like always having one in the midst of crafting too. (I've made frostfang twice - once to keep, once to sell, kudzu, juggernaut, sharur, and I'm about 300 gold away from finishing nevermore. Oh, and all three underwater legendaries but do they REALLY count?)
Fun story: I found the pre-curser to FrostFang while doing the Jormag meta event a while ago and didn't know it was the pre-curser and thought it looked weirdddd but still saved it to my account because I wanted every weapon skin in the game. But then you know, later found out that it in fact WAS a pre-curser and could be sold for 200+ gold. So. Um. Me and my friend had a nice pity moment🙂
I wish I could post screenshots here. It’s 3.38 in the morning, this video gets recommended and literally the first line he says is my situation.......
Wait so to get Legendary weapons, you have to forge them? That's so badass. I'm still a novice to this game and level 45. That just makes me appreciate this game more. I love crafting stuff like this in similar games like Albion and ESO.
I started making The Predator solely to get the Perfected Rifle. Because it's the rifle Tybalt used. It was for my deadeye and I wasn't thinking about going the whole way to the predator, but then I thought that it might compliment the deadeyes ability colors. I have about 40% of the required materials for the final step and I've been stuck in the limbo of just not wanting to do it for a year or two.
also you should totally plug in GW2efficiency.com as if you go to the crafting calculator, type in the legendary, and click "use owned materials" it will update a build path for you to follow as you work on it. little late to this video but it's really useful!
@@MuklukRUclips yeah, they are really useful! as long as more people know about these websites im happy, i'm not even sponsored or anything, but i dont know how much gold ive saved because of them
Nevermore was my first legendary and boy was that a journey, but I quite enjoyed the collection for it's quest-y feeling when you bring your raven around Tyria in various stages :D I'm currently working on Coalesence, but my next weapon I think is gonna be Astralaria, it's simply gorgeous!
I like to call Chuka & Champawat "chunky & grumpywart". It took me agggessssss to make my first legendary because I exclusively play WvW but eventually I got them done (only 1st gen for now (predator/incinerator/frostfang/sunrise/warbringer and medium armor). I still have not completed my eureka since it launched lol, but maybe now is the time, it's mostly done except for the gift of maguume/desert mastery, which I'm not sure which one to do since i've only done both halfway. I feel that 1st gen is more or less doable for me, just needs time, but I need to break into my first 2nd gen so I can get comfortable with the process and then it should be no problem. When I was lazy with gift of fortune, I would use pact supply map material, laurel, mystic packets, stuff like that.
It was fun crafting Incinerator, Rodgort, and Twilight. Sold them after crafting because I wanted to make a profit but I regret selling Incinerator. Currently I only have Eternity because I saved up enough gold to buy it and it was cheaper to buy than to craft at the time.

Got my sunrise a year ago, and now in my way to my Ad Infinitum. I'm a casual player. If I can do it you can too.
Wow me too. Same same
So you're going to call me out like this at 3 AM when I wanted to see this video to actually make my first Leggy? I'll take it because yeah...
Hah don't call me out for staying up at 3 am when I should be in bed
Clicking through at 3am. I feel called out
also you should totally plug in GW2efficiency.com as if you go to the crafting calculator, type in the legendary, and click "use owned materials" it will update a build path for you to follow as you work on it. little late to this video but it's really useful!
Aye, I missed it here but I devoted a section of my crafting guide to gw2effiency and gw2crafts. Both are excellent tools.
Good job nicely detailed.
I’ve been sitting on my dusk for about 3 years xD
When I was lazy with gift of fortune, I would use pact supply map material, laurel, mystic packets, stuff like that.
i dont like how he guessed i was surfing through youtube at 3 am....
This video legitimately made me breakdown in my head how many hours of real world work I would need to do to buy this with gems. Less painful.
You can do a combination of the two. But I’d only reserve that option when you’re really close to finishing. Like needing extra gold to buy materials.
I just finished xiuquatl s2 scepter it was rly fun to do now im after exordium i love crafting legendaries
It's only 1am, but you were close. :)
It was fun crafting Incinerator, Rodgort, and Twilight. Sold them after crafting because I wanted to make a profit but I regret selling Incinerator. Currently I only have Eternity because I saved up enough gold to buy it and it was cheaper to buy than to craft at the time.
Clicking through youtube at 3 am...close, it's 2 am for me
