I come here every day, because I know I will hear the honest truth from LD and from those who comment. It’s a habit now (but it’s a GOOD one, FINALLY). I know that LD is the real thing and I pray he can continue to reach those who are still so trapped in that hideous cycle of addiction. His honesty and sincerity is real. I hope he continues to reach those who need help. And it’s free. Keep on keeping on LD. We love you.
It's so rare to have this positive and loving experience on you tube. And during this day and age... especially with social media and the internet in general. It's just beautiful.
Whenever I have a thought about relapsing, I try to fast forward past the fun part, to the hangover or sickness, and the consequences that follow. This seems to help me. Even better than trying to completely erase the thought. Because if I actively try to avoid a thought, it never leaves and it continues to build momentum! Im so glad to hear that your son is feeling better, LD, and I pray he continues to feel better with each passing day! Much love, brother!

That is great news that your son is on the mend! I also believe in the power of prayer and that it can really change things! I'm happy he was able to see our prayers and well wishes, that is awesome!! I think the sober community in general is growing rapidly, and a lot more young people are becoming part of the community. There's a trend now of younger people either reducing alcohol intake or quitting altogether. I think they are realizing that alcohol is overrated and isn't going to bring them any real happiness, and that is amazing to see! People like you are really bringing awareness to the dangers of alcohol and how it can destroy lives. You're right about the power of our thoughts. Thoughts become things if we let them! I can't thank you enough for the work you are doing, LD; your videos make this sobriety journey so much easier! This Labor Day weekend is my second sober Labor Day weekend in a row!! In previous years I would definitely be hitting the bottle! I can't promise that I'll be sober for the rest of my life, but I made it nearly 2 years, I made it through this weekend, and I'm hoping for the best for tomorrow! Thanks so much, LD! Ok, my friend, im officially caught up on everything! Lol Back to work tomorrow, so I'll be jumping right back into my old routine, and I look forward to watching these in real time and hanging around our comment community. Firstly, I want to say that I'm so glad that your son is doing better, but im so sorry he was and still is so sick. I'm so grateful that you're in a place in life where you can truly be there for him. I had a few comments about your videos, but I'll keep it as short as i know how to so that this doesnt become an essay. For your video about signs that you may be prone to aud, I was all of that. From sip one, it gave me energy. I was the last to stop, the last to sleep. The guy that was always trying to get everyone else to rally. In my earliest days of drinking I was already taking it too far. I was talking to my sibling this weekend about drinking, and they apologized to me saying that they and my sister can remember a period of time after we graduated where we were always throwing parties. There were a number of occasions where I got alcohol poisoning, and everyone tried to manage it by feeding me bread. And if I threw up, to them it meant I'd be okay because I'd be removing some of the alcohol from my system. They admitted it was because they were afraid to call an ambulance. We were kids, I'm not upset at them for that. But I didn't know that all that had happened! I just remember always wanting to have the best time and always reaching for more. Secondly, I Def snored when I was a drinker! I didn't have anyone to let me know if I ever stopped breathing, but i know that I got horrible sleep. So I probably had something going on!! I wonder how prevalent that is in the aud community!! Thirdly, you are absolutely right. It can just start with a thought! Usually my thought would be tied to an event. And that would normally be a concert or holiday where I'd know everyone else would be drinking. Then I'd start bargaining and perseverating on the idea that i could just have one or maybe two? Then once I had them in me, I'd lose all my inhibition, and then I'd tell myself that I already did it, so I may as well have fun! After that moment I could sometimes just walk away. Other times I'd find myself buying a pint the next day. I love that you keep finding things to talk about. This was spot on. Enjoy your labor day!! 😊❤😊❤ I hope everyone in this community enjoys a relaxed and sober labor day. Grab a can of seltzer, or fresca, or your favorite n/a beverage and kick your feet up!! You deserve it 😊❤😊❤
I enjoyed your anecdotes! However, it's always scary to realize how young people manage the alcohol poisoning of others. People don't take alcohol poisoning with the potentially life-threatening gravity it deserves. I'm glad you're free from the ball and chain of active alcoholism and I hope your life and health continue to improve every day!! 😊❤😊❤
@kathrynminnick8986 Thank you, Kathryn. Me, too! I'm excited to continue experiencing everything that life had already been trying to offer me for years. It's all going to be a lot of work and time before I'm where i want to be in life, but I'm enjoying most of the work. On your commentary about kids enabling each other, I can remember how I thought at that age, and our consequence hierarchy was way skewed... I don't think we took anything seriously unless we saw it with our own eyes or experienced it ourselves. And sadly, even then, we sometimes thought we'd just get lucky. I always wanted kids. But I think of the things I did in my teenage years, and I wonder if I could survive parenting one of my own. Hope you're having a great day! ❤️😊❤️
@@amandaflaherty7528 I’m having a fine day, thanks. Hope yours is, too! I’m happy to share my own parenting experience sometime on Zoom. Not exactly for the faint of heart although I don’t have any super severe war stories. But still enough for me. 😊😊🌺
...or go to an AA meeting when you get off work. Hearing someone else's story of hope, someone's else's story of despair are great reminders of that which we want, and that which we don't want. It can help you to not drink that day.
Great video again, LD. Have you ever given any thought about seeking some sort of higher education and becoming a counselor in this area. I believe it is your calling! God Bless.
My two cents: 1) I think he's fulfilling that role doing what he's doing, and he's reaching a broader audience; and 2) I think if he enters the halls of higher education it should be as a speaker (the kind that fills very large auditoriums). I think he's got more to teach than most folks behind the ivy-covered walls.
Can I also just add it’s in that thought 💭 we’ve already begun the relapse in our subconscious thoughts. We are one bad thought away from relapse. Shared out again LD
I’m 57 married and mom of 2. I am very open with everyone (except work) that I’m an alcoholic. Whenever anyone offers me a drink I say No, thank you. I’m an alcoholic.
LD I thought the other day teens these days are probably so afraid of trying a drug for fear of fentanyl/death the parents are forgetting to talk about ALCOHOL !!! HS fball players here are already from what my son says are into coca ine. What happens is a higher rate of underage drinkers

...or go to an AA meeting when you get off work.

@@kathrynminnick8986 I agree with these options also.
Can I also just add it’s in that thought 💭 we’ve already begun the relapse in our subconscious thoughts.
We are one bad thought away from relapse.

the parents are forgetting to talk about ALCOHOL !!!
