I'm 73 and have never seen a slant six quit. Bullet proof.
My girlfriend (now wife) had a dodge dart with a slant 6 and it took little maintenance and a ton of abuse and never left us stranded.
Our shop tried to blow up a slant 6 one time back in the 80s. No oil, carb spring on backwards. It ran for quite a while, then spit a rod out the block, continued to run for quite a while, and finally locked up. It really put up a good fight!
@@61rampy65 Back in the 70's girlfriend drove her Dodge van home with the oil light on. Over 10 miles. Total damage was one stuck valve stem. Pulled the Head, fixed the valve and drove the thing 5 more years with no issues.
I would really like to see someone do a classic Slant 6 racing build using a Six Pack manifold designed for three 2 bbl carbs with three Holley Snipers instead. A turbo or super charger would be icing on the cake. Speedway Motors carries much of whats needed to pull this off along with Campbell Enterprises, Torque Storm and perhaps Summit Racing.

I hit one with 12psi and liquid propane all being forced through a 1bbl carb.... it to this day runs better😅

Make the bread truck a drop top so you can go in the tunnel. Try to load the mini cooper in the LBW.
You guys are on a roll, keep the pace going and you will succeed! Bread trucks are the new crown vics now. Totally normal every day vehicle no one cared about till the internet happened. Watch these all now get bought and turned into off-road or campers haha. If you got one, raise your price! Big, easy to fix, easy to drive, stealthy, cheap! What is not to love!?
It may be a Bread truck, but it sure reminds me of the Ice Cream truck that drove though the neighborhood when I was a child. Hint, hint, for a paint scheme. Thanks for sharing.

Robby.! Ya gotta read this, got a killer idea: if you chop the roof you can still make it through the tunnel on Massive tires. And massive tires on that van = fantastic approach angle!

Truth be told, that van could make a sick overland camper. Granted it's a touch large to be fully capable, but it will be the most comfortable for camping and moving around. I want it! Haha

@jdau2b The Laymo is a novelty, these builds are supposed to be effective overland vehicles. The van is awesome.... but it will not be the most nimble for overlanding, Depends on the trails chosen but it will rock for lodging and storage of overlanding gear.
Holly's idea of an odd off-road vehicle for this competition was an old Liberty instead of a wrangler 😂😂

well that might hurt the van. at the end on his way out on the big bump you seen a bunch of sand jump off the front and land all over (including some down the carb) this will be interesting to see the outcome of the van when he's done though

Back in the late 60's we got an old milk truck, was a dually, we used it on the farm, had a 3 speed manual shifter on the column, you drove standing up. That thing NEVER got stuck.

My band had the same van, it was white we called it tommy lee. Big white dirty van i miss it! We did a bunch of tours before the trans blew and we retired it.
Even among Robby Layton videos, this is one of the zaniest.
