One of my favorite Christmas presents was the first Cacophony album from my mom (she is that cool, but I did ask for it). It inspired me to do what I thought impossible in the early 80's and start transcribing Bach and Paganini violin solos. That endeavor got me to spend my Saturday afternoons perusing the sheet music section at one of the local music stores in Berkeley.

I've been playing guitar for 7 years now, and started when I turned 50. For the first 3 years I don't think I missed a night practicing. I would dedicate that all to Jason Becker because I knew he couldn't play and for me who was perfectly healthy at the time had no excuse not to.... so I always dedicated it to him! He's just an inspiration. Sam definitely picked a good guy to emulate himself after.

Jason you ended my guitarist career in late 80's. I was sure that I will be great guitarist but when I heard you and Marty play together, I knew that my effort would not be enough . Watching someone else play this stuff really illustrates just how difficult it is to do.
