    If you’re running on trails dude I suggest you put one dirt tire on the front I do it all the time it helps

    Best brake to be on the rear. The top ends of the arms are tucked in, and don't hit your leg or shoe like Shadow's. Just got to the part about the lever. I also use that lever. Took a few rides to get use to it. Though I'm a mono lever fan. It's a lighter and cleaner lever overall.

    i use em on my front and they stop great! I changed to clear pads though.

    You like the pads that come with them? I switched to clear slim by fours when I got them.

    Brant bro , I know this vid is about your breaks and the kink set up , but I just love you rcr cranks , a few yrs ago I tried to get a set but it was impossibly difficult to get some , so I ended up getting a 2001 dirt bros patriot instead 😊super complete frame and sprocket and stem , bars are all dbi , also my black 03 Hoffman pro team condor just got a crispy set of black ramp room 2gen love handles, both are sitting on Alex triple walls , my condor is nutz it is 42 lbs and bomb 💣 proof

    Hey man quick question. Do your brakes kit come with a barrel adjuster for the detangler? I got the desist 2 brakes kit and either I lost it whilst unpacking it or it doesn't come with one haha 😅

    V bars fucking sick! Here's to Redline for bringing them back. Nice bike man. Those kink levers are how they should be, no extra wasted material close to the bars.

      I think they already work as a front if you buy the dual cable kit

      Going to see if a dia-comp cable holder will fit so you have a adjustable barrel on em

    Ever considered trying compressionless brake housing like they use on road bikes? It’s more expensive, but really makes a difference there for brake feel

    • @Brant_Moore
      @Brant_Moore  2 года назад

      I didn’t even know that exists. Haha What do I look for to learn more?

    • @AmazingChinaToday
      @AmazingChinaToday 2 года назад

      With a Gyro, a normal $10 brake cable will lose any "sponge" feel after a few minutes riding, because the brake cables are always in the same position. Dia-Compe and Odyssey teflon lined cables are excellent. Maybe compressionless makes more sense running a loose cable, but I don't run loose cables. :) There is a good article at cxmagazine about "compressionless brake housing" and it's certainly an interesting product.

    Not sure I am feeling the lack of adjustment at the lever, and I don't like the springs being both silver. I was happy when I started using tech77s after having the stamped diacomp levers from the 80s, and have since moved to modulevers/m2/monolevers and haven't looked back. Growing up in the 80s/90s getting some of the original 990s even they had a silver and a gold spring at least (not always the easiest to tell apart). but I prefer the black and silver that evo/2/2.5 use.
    Not saying they are bad or anything like that, I'm sure they work great and are meant for the rider who flips back and forth about having breaks and wants a quick easy setup.
    current setup
    Rear: m2, m2 dual upper cable, colony detangler, dual lower odyssey slic cables w/noodles, london mod, evo 2s, koolstop eagleclaw 2s(salmon), on chrome rims
    Front: monolever, odyssey slic cable, evo 2s, koolstop eagleclaw 2s(salmon), on chrome rims

      Yea man, some people just like have a more complex setup with more control over every part. Im that way too on the bike I ride at the skatepark.
      This setup is really nice at the trails where I only care about stopping. It also has kept me from constantly messing with my brakes because something isnt perfect when in reality I dont even need it perfect there.

    I'm old school I don't see the point in not having brakes other than some people can't figure out how to work on them I have always used tech 77 levers, tektro calipers with clear oddessy pads and an oddessy gyro that set up works really well and easy to adjust

    That lever looks like a cool alternative to the fly, which I currently run. I’ve got a Springfield brake with an odyssey trigger monolever on my wife’s bike, maybe these will be a better option

    • @Brant_Moore
      @Brant_Moore  2 года назад +1

      Could be worth a shot! I’ve used it a few times riding already and it’s just as comfortable as the monolever im used to

    What's the point of using this brake?
    - no barrel adjusters on the lever (why? isn't it less comfy this way?)
    - specific stray cable (if it breaks, it's hard to use a regular replacement one since there are no bolts to tighten on the arms)
    - no sealed bearings like the vulcan (more friction?)
    - the use of a stray cable itself instead of a brake flexi noodle (less pulling angle?)
    I mean, when will these fancy companies stop the bs marketing and invest in real innovations? I need good brakes on my bike and 70's technology just doesn't impress me.
    P.s. no hate, just some thoughts on the matter

    • @Brant_Moore
      @Brant_Moore  2 года назад

      The point is that not everyone wants a super complex brake setup. These are plug and play and require minimal effort.
      Barrel adjuster on the lever doesn’t have anything to do with comfort and is compensated for with a longer barrel adjuster on the cable guide.
      If the cable brakes you can just get a new one and use a knarp. Basically makes it exactly the same as this setup comes but with a knarp instead of a solid cable end. Most brakes don’t have a bolt to tighten on the arms. The demolition are also the only brakes with a bearing so they are unique in that. I do like the demolition brakes.
      Making something easy to use that works great isn’t BS marketing or meant to impress you. It’s opening a door for more people to use brakes than just people like you who want something complex. I have an extremely complex brake setup with custom setups on the top/bottom cables on the bike I ride daily and I’m impressed that something so simple works so well 👌🏼
