That's next level narcissism and arrogance.
Opie created the show. Then it overgrew him. To the point where not only he was not contributing, he was hindering the show. He became aware of it and it made him isolated and resentful. “I’ve been doing radio since I was 18” but can’t generate any kind of success on his own.

It really is ridiculous. Jimmy already has to pretend opie is in the same comedic universe as him (while making probably a quarter what he makes), but then he has to deal with his passive aggressive horseshit (that literally has never worked on anyone with a brain cell)
@christ1313 I don't know how anyone can like Anthony, and not Jim Norton. To me, there's nothing funnier than those two together, except for maybe Patrice.
@christ1313 yea they talked about that, that opies role was always keeping the show moving in a direction. I feel like when opie had a kid is when it really turned
Shows. Hes so bad. So much so he cant handle brutal honesty either he needs to be in control of assessments. So telling when he he felt like the show was over because he saw jimmy and ant having fun. So telling of how he uses his assumptions to build whole bullshit scenarios in his head. He was riddled with resentment, true to form he only admits to a little. His whole threating to end the show back in the day makes sense now. Poor bastard.
"I can't wait until October that's just ridiculous." "Well I'm not quitting so are you gonna fire me?" "What like I fired everyone else? I'm just asking. Why would I do that? " "No, because you said you can't wait until October"
Can you imagine the unbearable ear beatings Opie is giving his family on a daily basis? I can't even imagine the amount of justification & validation he seeks from his wife or friends... Err, wife I guess lmao
He says Jim and he: “aren’t that close” in one breath and in the next, says: “we’re pretty close, we’ve been together 20 years, you should’ve chimed in when I cried on air”

It's amazing. After seeing what some of my friends, dad, people like Ant, etc, go through, I really am blessed.
The fact that Opie thought that dividing the show up would be in anyway beneficial to him is so hilarious and perfectly displays his astounding lack of self-awareness.
Opie just wants a meaningless show, where the guests and callers provide the actual content.......Anthony is an open book, who gave his real opinions and views, on any given subject. Opie never ever gave a controversial opinion about anything ever, he just wants to sit back and let everyone else do all the heavy lifting entertainment wise.
We had a good thing, you stupid son of a bitch! We had Anthony. We had a show. We had everything we needed, and it all ran like clockwork. You could’ve shut your mouth, taken calls, and made as much money as you ever needed. It was perfect. But, no, you just had to blow it up. You and your pride and your ego! You just had to be the man. If you’d done your job, known your place, we’d all be fine right now!
"I'm not gonna talk about it, but I'll tell everyone I don't wanna talk about it and then sulk for the next 2 minutes, sucking all the fun out of the room and make it all about me while making everyone else feel miserable."
Norton is not big on booksmarts, same as all the other regulars from O&A to be honest, but he clearly has a very quick and sharp mind. His jokes and comments are lightning fast and spot on almost always. It was always so strange when something related to basic science came up on the show. Nobody in the studio could do even very basic maths, but they could reference movies flawlessly all day and with total clarity and accuracy.
Not all are good at arguing. Some are not even funny in interviews and don't even try to be because they're not good off the cuff. But Norton has always been awesome going up against people, especially on tough crowd.
Remember when he had this big moment and finally said the truth about what he thought about Anthony and told Jimmy “I really needed you there with me that day”. Next episode; “We’re not close”.
Opie says, "I'm really upset that you don't know what was going on", and then in the same breath he says, "I kept a lot of what was going on from you because you feel like you're in the middle". He is a maniac.
Listening to this in 2023 and knowing that you were right all along. Greg is a baby, delusional and is extremely manipulative and Jim is solid as a rock!
@DukeSilverRS Norton would have been better served focusing only on stand-up, I'm not a fan of his "characters". This radio format is built on the misery of others; also see Howard Stern.
@@MasterEm243 Let’s be real - Ant and Jim are LIGHT YEARS ahead of where Opie landed. And their unfavorables are sky high (ugly faces, ugly lifestyles, Ant’s prof track record). And even with all that privilege, Greg isn’t even marginally relevant. His YT views just depressing AF
Without jim norton , the O and A show would never have gotten to the next level. All his comedy buddies ( ck, vos, Patrice, Bobby, etc, etc) blew that shit up. Opie is a little man.
@@Dougdenslowe714 yeah but opie was a glorified handler, he made sure that they were kept on topic or made sure callers were able to actually be heard. He really had very little charisma to speak off, he was very replaceable
On repeat listenings you can really hear Jim's chess playing muscles come into play here. I've listened to this about 7-8 times. Jim is a brilliant mind and always comes from a place of logic. He gives Opie small victories and then decimates him verbally with a bigger move. It's really something to behold.
Absolutely. I admire the way he confronts him. It’s a shame Opie is such a terrible person who consistently derailed the legendary comics in the room to put his need for attention above his job and I for one am having a wonderful time watching him writhe in this current personal hell he’s carved out for himself. If he never met Anthony he’d be managing a Rite Aid right now.
Opie is ultimately wrong so his excuses are really weak and can all be grouped together as "fallacious arguments." Jim lets Opie win his fallacious argument so he can come back and bring up the main point yet again. Opie is a cluster-B personality type, they are the worst to talk to, very energy draining to deal with them.
Imagine a dude you’ve been working with for 15 years going “Hey man your best friend did some insanely fucked up shit” and then not telling them at all. It’s almost like he made it up lmao
To be fair, it came out after Opir was fired that Jim and Anthony talked all kinds of shit behind Opie's back. Anthony admits that he was texting Jimmy the day he called Opie a cunt. I can understand why Opie wouldn't talk to Jim about certain things, but that is exactly why they should have parted ways after Anthony was fired. Jim hated working with Opie long before Anthony was gone, but he didn't realize how much he hated it until Anthony wasn't there. The only reason Jim stayed with Opie was because he wanted the steady pay check.
I will be fair, if he’s talking about the stuff around Cumia that’s now pretty common knowledge, I could see him at least not wanting to discuss it on air. But he should’ve looped Jim in. If I was paling around with a guy, I’d want to know if he was involved in some crazy bad stuff
In a way he did make it up. Ant's talked about how Opie sees the world thru a completely different lens than everyone else. They would experience something together and Opie's reporting/understanding of it was totally wrong and/or insane. He did the same with Ant's comments post break up. When Ant talked about the thing with Opie's wife's sex tape and said "I'll let the internet speculate on that", what he meant is, THAT'S what the internet does - obsesses on rumors and ridiculous stories. Opie heard what he wanted to hear. He's obsessed with that dumb story, and he LOOKS for reasons to sperg out over it. If THAT'S his best example of "the terrible things Ant did after the break up", then Opie's even crazier than everyone thinks. I've always thought Opie has Asperger's or autism - he has a ton of the characteristics. The main one is that he's always totally out of step with the rest of the room.
Opie thought he was a bigger draw than the real comedians. He found out that he wasn't...multimillion dollar lesson. Hats off to the guest when she said Opie should go take a bong hit.
Jimmy's lived up to his namesake. Jim = James. The meaning of James is the supplanter. A supplanter is someone who takes the place of someone else who was there first.
Ant was just appreciative of the fact he was doing radio and didn’t have to do construction anymore. He did everything in his power to keep the show from going down over the years to avoid going back to his old career.
"I'm not maaaaad" "It's not important"" "that's fiiiinneeee" "Let it gooo" "We're just not that close" make these high-pitched sounding and repeat them at least 10million times and you too can be like Opie!
@@airforcemarkmgnot really this was just 1 guy's inability to read the room and wonders why nobody likes him. If I were I would've dipped if things are that on edge.
"So you're not going to the Patrice benefit?" That hurt my soul. It really, really hurt my soul. He was crushed thinking about Opie not going to support Patrice and his family because of stupid shit. Jim was right to criticize Opie here.
I was a little wrapped up in disliking Opie for being so instrumental in tearing the show apart, but then I read this comment and it put things in perspective. The world was righting itself when it put Opie where he is now.
Yes I agree, hearing this narcissistic spoiled brat argue his passive aggressive non-statements, like "Anthony, he's done some shady things in the past, I'm not allowed to say what, but he's done shady things" Jim says it best: "You say odd things to people dude.."
Opie's logic: "I don't trust you Jim, we aren't close; but when I tell you that Ant did some horrendous shit behind the scenes, I not only expect you to blindly trust me with no further information, but I am actually mad that you don't already know the shit that I am pulling out of my ass on the spot."
And "I also expect you to be pissed off at Anthony for the horrendous shit he's said and done about me, despite the fact that we're not close enough to even discuss said shit...."
He’s simply a guy that resented the fact that Jim wouldn’t join him in blackballing Anthony and essentially being a shitty friend (Jim and Ant were clearly still friends). He’s a guy that couldn’t stand how the show wasn’t good anymore because Anthony wasn’t there. Jimmy handled it masterfully. He could’ve gone way harder at Opie but didn’t.
"I DEVELOPED THIS WHOLE FAWKING THING!" Opie's goal in an argument is not to come to an understanding but rather to loudly proclaim that nothing is his fault and then gaslight the other person into oblivion
Esther sharing that she'd gone on Anthony's show the day before, On Air, may have been the most genius in _triggernomics_ thing anyone's ever done, intentionally or not.
You think Opie is a "good guy"? I think he's an unfunny, uninteresting passive aggressive POS. I would love to hear some of his shows from before he met Anthony.
I laughed at we aren't close enough for me to inform you on the situation that involves you too but let me ask this chick about her religion and family
@@williamhale1995 Because none of that was true, it was his simple, dimwitted defence after the accusations and narrative of "opie has no loyalty" were in effect, so he like a little kid resorted to *"HE'S DONE PLENTY OF MEAN STUFF FIRST! I CAN'T TELL YOU WHAT THEY, AND YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY WERE EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE BEEN CLOSE TO EVERYONE FOR 15 YEARS!"*
Jim you were a class act. You handled this directly without being passive aggressive. Opie kept skirting every issue and attempted circular thinking without any success. ** Bravo**
Passive Aggressiveness is the worst trait in a person. Coupled with his extreme insecurity, narcissism and sensitivity, Opie is the worst kind of person imaginable.
KAD10895 ... Can’t agree more. Passive-aggression is a cancer and typifies adults who can’t evolve from childhood emotions. As for Patrice: Recall on the 2nd benefit after he died (WAY before Von tried to scam his fans to live a life of luxury), OPIE said to Burr, w disdain: “How many times you gonna keep doin this benefit show?” You could feel the daggers at Opie in the room.
Narcissism is a coping mechanism to deal with reality and the people in it. Without narcissism, they'd collapse and be a shell of a person. They're not born with it, they're made by their parents usually through neglect and punishment for everything you do. Usually by age 5 to 8 the mind is sealed off, and the narcissism is honed in your by hour day by day. It can't be cured either. Most narcissists don't go to therapy and the ones who do, use the therapist to better their manipulation tactics. Very few try to work on themselves and if they stop even for a day or two, they revert right back to the way they were before the work.
Girl: I was on Anthony's show.....is that ok? Opie: Of course it's ok, why wouldn't it be ok? Shouldn't it be ok? OK? I'm ok? Anthony's ok? I mean, he's not ok, but he's ok with me. Well, he's not ok with me and I'm not ok with him, but we don't talk. He did some things. Said some things. Said not nice things.. Shitty things. He's a shithead. I hate him for ever and ever and ever. But I don't want to talk about it. Not with you Jimmy, because we're not close. I'm very upset, but I don't want to talk about anything. hes wasnt to bad on the old shows, i hated when he would make guests wait and i hated when he wanted to move on from a topic that was clearly funny and could keep going. other then that he let alot of callers make fun of him and made fun of himself alot. his good days were pretty good and he did have some good jokes. his stories were awfull though. i havent listened to him since he put dl hugley on the show when jimmy clearly didnt want dl hughley on. i thought that was a super shitty thing to do and havent looked at anything opie has done since

Jim is one of the smartest, sharpest comedic minds of all time. Opie has no fucking clue how fast and easily Jim could destroy him if he wasn't holding back.
People say this but I genuinely don't get it. Just my opinion but he's not even funny, he just says the most vulgar/mean shit he can think of and usually there's not even a punchline to it. He's an unlikeable deviant. I respect him to an extent but...damn, people really cowgirl him.

Opie is extremely bitter because Anthony is making it. When Ant was first fired, Opie was beaming with joy, now his jealousy is getting the best of him
C Mazz Sr you know he was ecstatic to have "his show" back, he lied about "talking to anthony constantly" clearly happy that Anthony was gone, but when ants network became super successful and Opies "haters" started killing him, he panicked, tried to tell himself that he was the talent, gets fired and still blames everyone else.
I never hated or disliked Opie. But I quickly realized how unfunny he was after Anthony left. When it was just him and Norton you could feel how Norton was carrying the show. I think Opie realized that too.
I've gotta be honest, this is kinda hard to listen to. I feel bad for Opie. Not in the sense that I agree with him or his actions, but rather that he sounds so strangely broken and defeated. He's a man who needs some help, and he doesn't seem to know it. It's sad, in a way. It would probably help him save considerable face if he would just try and explain himself and his actions/motives without lashing out at people or being extremely defensive.
Which is strange because he says or said he was talking to a shrink , he even said his professional relationship with Ant was the catalyst for him seeking therapy. Everyone is enemy and the man has enemies but now he has mistaken Jim Norton as a Benedict Arnold which is absurd.
+ReverendShmun There's been some cringy moments in the history of this show. But this is awful in a bad way, and for once I can see the difference in technicolor. This is not easy audio because this is full on festering anger and resentment that is probably never going to go away. I think it's pretty much over for Opie and Jimmy. I don't see this going much further into 2016, TBH.
I respect the way you came at it. It doesn't help to just attack Opie because he will always go on the defensive. He's wrong & his wrong about so many things & it's almost like a broken record of the victim. Everyone has love for him but he's got such a blind eye to his own faults and that's detrimental to a himself, his friendships.. I could still be an Opie fan if he pulls out of this but if he keeps down this negative, childish, and insecure nature, I'll have to turn off the dial forever. Unless I'm craving me some Jimmy😜 which happens often, bless his depraved soul 💋💕✌🏻️

I know lol I would’ve just left 😭😭
Esther Ku was a queen for starting this argument, she stomped all over the Greggshells!
It's kind of hilarious in a way though just her having to sit and listen to an argument for over an hour 😂😂😂
What a waste of her time. She is a professional comedian who could be somewhere else promoting her shows but is instead caught between these two neurotic ladies.
The only time I have ever heard of her
Lol, Jim and Esther tried to move on about 30 seconds in and then Opie carried it on for nearly 2 hours
Out of two men and a women, Opie just had to be the woman
Your Mate
This literally could've been a 1 minute video if it wasn't for Opie
***** You're completely correct
But he WILL NOT talk about it.
Lol, yeah, he pulls it back FOUR times then when they finally give in, within 10 seconds he's acting like he didn't want to talk about it and he's pissed at them for bringing it up.
He reminds me of my ex.
Opie's passive aggressive attitude is just exhausting to listen to.
It's funny how through the years he went on and on and on about his selfish mad mother... then you hear this... kinda seems like a pot/kettle situation
Borderline personality disorder type shit
@@jackburton3701 I wonder if its inherited or if its learned behavior. Trauma to young kids can sometimes cause people to express npd,bpd traits without being full on narcissist or borderlines as they grow up.
C Mazz Sr of
I never hated or disliked Opie. But I quickly realized how unfunny he was after Anthony left. When it was just him and Norton you could feel how Norton was carrying the show. I think Opie realized that too.
@Anderson Cooper i didn't say anthony is "making it" also that was 3 years ago when he was doing pretty damn good.
@Anderson Cooper 3 years ago.....maybe you are stupid
"I needed you that day Jimmy"
I would have started laughing and puking.
Jimmy should of said "We're not that close".
"Anthony poisoned the fans against me!!" How, by having them listen to you for five minutes?
+ReverendShmun you're exactly right... I wish more people could read your comment. A healthy view on things.
+ReverendShmun he is already receiving therapy. Not sure what else is left for him.
"I miss Opie" - No one ever.
Hahaha Facts
"I miss Opie" - Opie

Holy shit! Brilliant!
hahahah, you are correct! that is hilarious
Opie logic: we aren’t close I’m not gonna tell you anything.
Also Opie: I needed you to say something the day I cried like a bitch.
I heard this in my car live. I had a meeting to head in to and was so enthralled I was late. Then I left the meeting quickly making up some excuse just to hear the rest of it.

@@musicman-tx2lw Oh no. That hurts.
I don't care what he says, you can tell Jimmy was hurt by that "we're not that close" line :/
Hmmm I’m no Opie fan but he was just being brutally honest as instead of lying. Is it better to bullshit someone?
Yeah it would of cut me deep too. 15 years of working together and he said shit like that. I would of been like yeah I'm fucking out of here.
My heart sank for him😣😔I felt so bad! That was such a shitty thing to say to Jimmy! I feel like Jimmy would be awesome to know! Seems like a great guy...
Scott Ant and Jimmy have the best chemistry and Opie just was the odd man out and wasn’t funny. O and A lost there chemistry. Opster couldn’t handle it.
@@ScottsOnTheRottenCotton Opie was constantly lying in this clip, you can hear it in his voice, hes changing what the arguments about to suit his story
I love how Esther will always be best known foe the best radio fight in history
Rarely do we get to witness a clash between fruit and vegetable.
Man's went far and wide into the rabbit hole to pull this one off. Terribly wonderful comment lol

ay jonathan undderated, made me laugh

Esther joy king?
Now this is a reference.
It's all her fault too 🤣🤣🤣
Opie saying “that’s okay” when Esther says she was on Ant’s show makes everything awkward so fast

I put Jim Norton in the same category as Anthony Cumia....talented, witty and extremely entertaining! Opie on the other hand brings absolutely NOTHING to the table......never has!
+Eaton Beaver I'm happy too, it's a great thing to have had happen
+Dennis Butryn yeah opie always seemed to me like the host or structure of the program, he would introduce people and take calls and move the show along and such, but he was never funny or interesting, anthony and jimmy were the content
+Dennis Butryn I dont hate opie but I must admit he would have no show without jim norton.
+Dennis Butryn ??? i remember when Opie was off and Ant would handle the show....absolute shit. Ant was always second mic.Ant should man up and not blame Opie for getting fired. Ant fucked up the show by opening his big mouth instead of knocking that black bitch out...but that's Ant.
This "steering the show" argument drives me nuts. He didn't do anything beyond what the Jocktober hacks he made fun of did: read a weird news article, tell Travis to put a caller through.
That's it. That is all he did. Something any college radio student browsing Buzzfeed could do for free, Opie somehow got paid millions for.
And the Nopie videos prove how much better the show is without him, but even then you have delusional Opie fans saying, "The Nopies were only good because of the structure Opie laid down!"
HE READS NEWS ARTICLES. POORLY. THAT IS ALL HE DID.
The only thing stronger than Jim and Anthony's friendship is Opie's hymen.
Hahaha. Epic
OOOOOOOOOOH!!!!!@ NICE!!!
I give this burn...5 stars.
I give this 5 tickles of the taint
