It honestly it didn't matter because it's powerful stock but I'm sure any small mod will get it to the 400hp class. It's some guys out there running pretty good numbers from the ecoboost.
The 2nd video clip, the Taurus II, was definitely a 1991-1995 SHO, but it was the 3.0L Manual transmission. You can tell by the shifting. The 3.2L was only paired with the automatic transmission.
No it was the auto because if you notice it shifted to 2nd at about 6500 rpm and at the time of the shift he was going 40mph or slightly more. The manual Sho is at 7000rpm at about 35mph in first gear.It had to be the auto because you can't run the Manual Sho to over 40mph in first gear, you would have hit the 7300rpm rev limiter before that speed.Just watch the video close again and you will see it shifts at 65-6600rpm and the speed is over 40.
What makes the GEN 3 so special.?? (what we Gen 3 owners call the 'UNICORN')...........Engine, suspension, steering, brakes, interior are ALL specific !, or 'bespoke' as Jay Leno likes to say. I'm surprised they didn't include at least one with the Duratec V6. Not a speed demon but a definite improvement over the base engine. Smoother, more powerful, more reliable, and equivalent fuel economy.
was about to say the same...those 24 valve duratecs could get down with a drop in air filter, and some 3in/4inch outlet mufflers for granted they offer better air restriction....i remember my uncle doing this to his ole taurus back in 05, and he was clocking 0 to 60 in roughly 6-2-6.5 seconds which was pretty decent for its time.....thinking about it, i also wonder how much quicker the 392 scatpacks would be if they utilized a 32 valve dohc engine and not a 16 valve ohv 6.4 engine aswell...ohv engines don't have the same well balanced power-band, especially at higher rpms, like dohc engines do...ohv and pushrod engines are bulletproof, and can spin you off the line, but lose most of their power throughout the higher rpms...
It's too bad you didn't have the last generation of the Police Interceptor EcoBoost SHO ('Sh*t Hang ON!!') I have had two 2015s that were Wyoming State Trooper/Highway Patrol Units that had 382 HP, they would 0-60 in 5.8 seconds, top speed was about 148 mph with alot of black still on the tach bone stock. I sold one to a friend of mine who made it into a Mad Max/Post Apocalyptic/Twisted metal themed car,... he put a tuner,a K&N fliter, bypassed the secondary blow off pipe for the forward turbo,a catchcan, muffler deletes, and now it puts out well over 430 horsepower we still don't know what the top speed is but he's had it to 160+ so far.
