Hey Horse Lovers! Well that sure was an interesting day! Hope you enjoy our Horse Show Vlog. -Shae 🐴😱😆💞⭐️ Apparel, Lipstick, Bitless Bridles: thespiritedhorseboutique.com/
Same here. I am 67 and still remember the horse shows. When I started working I didn’t have the money for horse shows but transitioned to dog shows. It is amazing how similar they are.
I have to say I'm 64 next week, I rode English when I was younger.....loved it. The one thing back then ,I didn't come from money and it mattered sad to say. I would have loved to have had a place like Free Spirit and an instructor like you Shea. All your students seem to adore you and enjoy the other riders as well. Thank you to everyone of you for bringing back a part of my soul and love of horses ....oh and your husband is an excellent man, you two are very lucky
Such a lovely message! Although Shea's mission is to find and bring horses to their full potential through additional compassionate training, her legacy will be the next generation of superb equestrians.
It is mostly the Hunter/Jumper scene that I think it matters...I did this kind of stuff Shae is doing decades, and it was mostly middle class and salt of the earth types. 4H programs are good things to google if folks are interested.
I know very little about horses or what the judges were looking for but what I did notice is how Gaston & Beauty held their heads erect , ears at attention , moved fluidly & seemed to be enjoying what they were doing. Some of the other horses their heads were hanging, ears not erect & their movements were far less fluid. Gaston & Beauty were winners in my book. Great to watch.
“Aye, There’s The Rub” ........The judges wore Western-style attire suggesting the type of horse they are most familiar with in evaluating. Head carriage (good pickup) is one big difference in how western-trained horses are judged. This is not a criticism; it was a very nice horse show. In larger competitive horse shows, there would also have been judges familiar with other horse breeds and their respective training.
Head/neck carriage has more to do with breed (notice the saddlebred in the ring), and a bit to do with formal training. Western disciplines generally train for a much lower head, and I'd assume the lowest head carriage is a Western trained horse. A lower head generally means more relaxed, and a higher head generally means the horse is tense. You have to look at the entire horse though.
There's something indescribable about Beauty. I would have just loved her to be my horse. She's self contained, safe and so willing, and a lovely size. She's an old soul methinks. ❤
So easy to forget that Beauty is just 4! She has a strong mind, and will become "push button". Gaston looked beautiful, powerful, and solid. Such a relaxed and trustworthy boy! Everyone rode very well, congrats to all! ❤
My granddaughter showed her little mare when she was a teen. She loaded, locked and drove to the horse show. In the process lost the trailer key. Little Chloe waited patiently for some kind man to jimmy the lock to get her out. Traumatic. This was over 10 yrs ago . Hayden still has this sweet old gal. She is now 18 and carries her little 4 yr old with love and care. Horses are so special.
Mushu will definitely have another day to show and shine! Beauty blows me away with her maturity and class!!! Four years old!!! Simply amazing 🤩 Gaston is so handsome and graceful as well 👍🏼💯
For those wondering what the Coggins test certificateis, it is to prove a horse/pony doesn't have a virus called Equine Infectious Anemia. There is always next time for Mushi and Beauty and Gaston did so well. Beauty takes it all in her stride whilst Gaston needs a nap. 😆❤❤
Pretty sure she said this show was only 15 minutes away. Why not just run home and get the coggins certificate? Put the horse back in the trailer while waiting? A horse can be infected the day after blood is drawn. In reality, this test is not fail proof to begin with.
One time my mother drove me 7 hours in an ice storm to compete for a musical scholarship. We were qlready nervous and the roads were trecherous. My pianist had my music and she never made it to the music hall. That all put me over the edge into tears. From then on I always travel with my own copy, and 2 extra copies. Thanks, Mom for getting me there. Yes, I was awarded a scholarship. I understand leaving😢 papers behind.
At a little over 11:00 minutes, when your student walked up to the judge, then turned and got in her stance, Beauty moved her right foot back and stood square. It was as if she knew exactly what she was supposed to do. I was so impressed.
So true. I only experienced teachers who screamed a lot to their students and horses and throw their shoes while teaching lessons. . That's why I stopped riding. Today I only go for walks with two old horses of a very friendly woman and it's the best quality time ❤
It’s still good for Mushi to get exposure. All the ladies looks good. ❤❤ There will be a next time for Mushi😊. Oh my goodness great job by all the young ladies at this show.
Yes 👏 good job ladies but I’m sad that Miss you didn’t get to participate in all these events. I really love mushu ❤ I love cobs and gypsy Vanners I❤HORSES
When my daughter was young in a 4H line up class for judging with went a long time a horse was sleeping and when judge asked for a movement the horse fell down as it was startled. No one hurt, just a good laugh.😂
My dad use to take me to my horse and dog shows. I loved it!!! He wanted me to place high out of love but I honestly didn't care because I knew the hard work I put into my animals ♥️
Ive never even met any of you and i was so proud watching you all. Great job ladies! Next time, Mushu will get special awards for Best Mustache and Cutie Patootie and many ribbons to show how well trained he is.
Kudos to you Shae for how well your students did at the show. All the horses did really well. I know you must feel a certain amount of pride because you have brought along these students and these mounts to where they are today. You have proven that you don't need a fancy expensive horse to show and that any horse with the right care and training can accomplish great things if given the chance. Gaston❤. Such a good boy. He seems to really enjoy showing. And Beauty🙀 look out! She is amazing … have you found anything yet that she doesn’t do well😂
Maybe it's the Canadian in me but I just adore Gaston. Draft horses are adorable. I ❤ all your horses. Great video. Looks like everyone is enjoying themselves.
Sleeping Beauty is a star! These girls are so lucky to have you in their lives, teaching them how to roll with the punches and to stay positive! It's no small thing for horses to go to a new place, go in the ring with horses they don't know and act properly! I went to a show once and my horse, along with another one from our barn, began cantering when we were supposed to be trotting! We had to stand in the middle of the ring! We had arrived late and didn't have time to warm up. I still laugh about it years later
😊❤ Hi Shae and students! 😅 Congrats to everyone!! 🎉🥰 You all were Rock Stars!! 🤩 ❤ Between finances and medical issues it's been quite awhile since I participated in a horse show!! LOL 😂 But I have to say that looking back, it's the things that don't go right but you can laugh at later that you remember!! So, I say you all will remember this rainy day!! 😮😅❤ I had a little Arabian gelding I took to lots of open shows! I love them for learning ... and laughs! One weekend we had been showing in halter, English and Western. It's getting late on Sun, not many classes left. But I was entered in the trail class. I was exhausted so we changed riders and my friend's daughter rode him. He was doing great! They are approaching the mailbox. For those that might not know; the rider is supposed to walk up to the mailbox and stop where they can easily reach the box. Then they are supposed to open it, pause as if checking and then close it and walk off. My gelding stopped early. He stopped with his head at the box. And before the rider could do anything he reaches over, opens the box with his mouth. He actually paused and tilted his head like he was looking inside and then he reached down and closed the box with his mouth!! LOL 😂 I had a video and I was standing close to the judge. On the tape you can hear her cracking up laughing and then she says; "That'll do!!" LOL 😂🤣 I know my little Arabian did well that weekend. We had an assortment of different place ribbons but I don't even remember much else from that show. I will never forget that minute when Beyfire checked the mail all by himself!! LOL 😅 So in my eyes; you guys/gals had a fantastic day!! Luv ya! 😊❤❤
@@SHENworks Hi, yes he did! 😃 It's been so many years I can't remember the details. But I think his sire was Bey El Bey. I probably wouldn't have ever been able to afford a horse with his breeding. But the story was his mother died after giving birth. The owner really didn't know anything about horses. Beyfire was just fed hay and pasture so his growth was stunted I believe, he matured at 14.3 hands. He also had a scar on his chest because he was put in a pasture that was fenced with barbed wire, and there were mares on the other side in another pasture. He went through the fence. But he was perfectly sound, really beautiful mover! Just gorgeous, nice deep red bay with a blaze and short white sox. I loved that silly boy!! ☺️
Well done to you Shae and your students, they all looked so smart in their English. You can tell they’re loving what they’re doing all smiles even in the pouring rain. Sure Mushu will shine at the next event notice his moustache looked particularly smart that day ❤
Shae you are so positive. I love that. You are on to something w the idea of those classes. The psychology of a horse. How to read their cues, energy and body language. So much more. I would pay for those classes. I've had horses since I was 5 and I would still find your classes fascinating. 😊
Definitely a unique Horse Show Day. I sympathize with Shae regarding the mishap with Mushu. It would have been a fun time watching Mushu too, but it was wonderful to get to see Beauty do well, again. And Gaston looked beautiful moving around the ring both ways. I loved the uniformity of the FSE riding apparel and all the shirts and tops advertising Free Spirit Equestrian. So cool to see supporters there! Thx for sharing this special Saturday in Michigan. Relatively quiet, but worthy and fun, weather and all! 👍🥰💗🐎💗🐎💗 ♥️🐴♥️
All of your students are developing beautiful equestrian skills; heels down, shoulders back, great line from shoulder to knee, driving with their pelvis especially in the canter, soft hands and seat. Great job y'all and kudos to you too Shae!!
Really fun. Lovely to see the girls riding beautifully and being a credit to their instructor. Well deserved ribbons. The horses did great and looked to be having a nice time esp with all the fuss they were getting.
That's so amazing that mom and daughter show together! They look like twins! Great job to all your students and horses, Shae!! They are all such great riders! I just want to add that I love the fact that you don't use fake tails! I much prefer the natural look.
Congrats to all of you wet showsters!! bet every one will sleep deeply tonight. .thanks for filming under watery conditions. pretty group of gals. Every one is a star!!!
How I wish I had the opportunity to do shows. I didn't start riding until was 13 years old. No lessons until I was older. How exciting for these ladies to have a horse to show and have their instructor helping them along the way. You're building great equestrians Shae! Congratulations to all today. 🤗🤗🤗🤗
I started around age 10 I think, never showed either. Was always jealous of a relative who owned her own horse and showed. We went to watch her in jumping competitions a few times, I was star struck. Just glad I got the opportunity to take lessons for a few years and be with the horses.
I loved showing at local shows. We called them fun shows. They were actually training shows. We had a fantastic time. At the end of show season they had an Old Timers Show, no one under the age of 25 was allowed to show. It was one-time fee for the day. You would get a number, sign up for your classes but if you decided you wanted to show in a class you didn't sign up for all you did was let them know you wanted to go into the class by yelling out your number, & you showed in it. The great part was the 4H kids were the judges, which was good for them. I had an English/Western pleasure horse. My friends talked me into doing barrels. I couldn't believe it; he took third place. You would like something like that. I had a loose-leaf notebook with plastic sleeves in it, I kept all my horse's records in it. When I took them to a show all I had to do was grab the book and everything was there. Your babies did really well. You have every right to be very proud of them. Congratulations. Brings back old memories. Thank you for letting me reminisce.
What a lot of work for all of you. I am so impressed. The riders were immaculate, the horses steady and ready, and you overseeing it all, Shae.Disappointing about Mushu, who looked amazing, but that happens sometimes. Well done, Shae and all horses and helpers. Hope you had a little rest the next day.( The way the horses prick their ears when they hear your voice, Shae, no matter who is riding, you are the Alpha, and they trust you.Beautiful.)
You've inspired me to keep riding through these rough times in my life! You've taught me to keep pushing through life! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!!!❤
I don't think that Shae could ever realize what a wonderful effect she, Kyle, the horses, Koa and Penelope have on the thousands of viewers around the world.Thank you.🎉❤😊
Everybody looked so sharp! The team in their matching outfits outshone all others! Beauty & Gaston were outstanding, and their usual gorgeous selves! Mooshie looked awesome! My daughter had two Vanners... I can relate to the grooming effort! Next time, he'll have his turn to dazzle everyone! Thanks for all of your hard work and staying cool through it all!!!
Oh my gosh. Your posse was so professional and their riding attire looked totally top-notch. I know it's about the horses but y'all sure are the girls that love them.
OMG Gaston cracked me up with him sleeping😂😂😂 Both he and Beauty awesome jobs!!!!! Don’t worry Mushi! You will get your turn soon! 😀 Shae-would it be possible for Belle to be trained just to be shown in the ring for beginners as long as her shivers is under control or is that still too much stress from a training standpoint?
The view early on in the video that shows from far away and a bit above the ring gives such an amazing different look at Gaston than we usually see ! ✨🥰🤩😍✨ He is super stunning!
Glad everyone had a good time. So awesome. Love the way you concentrate on experiences rather than winning. What a great example and instructor you are. I was a "show mom" at 4H shows for both my daughter and granddaughter. So much fun! Thanks for taking me along.
Oh thank you Shae for bring us along, it makes us feel like we are there with you. What an amazing job the students and horses did.....yay for free spirit equestrian.
I watch your videos a long time now and never wrote an comment, but: You are a hard working woman Shae and you bring so much love into this world! ❤ I'm happy to know you exist and you have a great husband on your side! ❤
I enjoy seeing the different breeds & styles of equitation all in one arena. Fascinating to see the different nuances of each discipline. Thank you for taking us along!

Keep a copy of all your Coggins on your phone. Then you'll always have it and not fool with loose paperwork.
I was thinking a copy in the trailer or behind the driver's seat too.

You are on the right track! Is time for a bitless show! Walk, trot, canter classes. Bring this out in the open! 🥰
4 years old and so Amazing. Everyone did Great.❤
I don't think that Shae could ever realize what a wonderful effect she, Kyle, the horses, Koa and Penelope have on the thousands of viewers around the world.Thank you.🎉❤😊
The horse's and students did great. Beauty is a natural in the ring. To bad about the rain 🌧️
So nice to see your lovely students riding your beautiful, well cared for horses.
Great vlog! As a huge 4H lover, I love showmanship! It teaches us so much! It teaches patience, how to properly groom our ponys and so much more.
What a wonderful fun day at the show. Well done everyone.
Thank you!!!
Watching this brought back so many memories and makes me want to get back into horseback riding after so long. Way to go everyone!!
Thank you Free Spirit riding team and you all look so beautiful in your outfits!!!

THE YOUNG LADIES ARE PROGRESSING FABULOUSLY 🐎❤
OMG Gaston cracked me up with him sleeping😂😂😂
Both he and Beauty awesome jobs!!!!!
Don’t worry Mushi! You will get your turn soon! 😀
Shae-would it be possible for Belle to be trained just to be shown in the ring for beginners as long as her shivers is under control or is that still too much stress from a training standpoint?
Poor Mushu! He was so excited to show off his skills😊
The view early on in the video that shows from far away and a bit above the ring gives such an amazing different look at Gaston than we usually see !
✨🥰🤩😍✨
He is super stunning!
It was a “ go with the flow” day and everyone did well.. ah Mushu, little disappointment but, next time definitely.❤
I LOVE Mooshoo - the feathering on his legs are winners right there
I enjoy seeing the different breeds & styles of equitation all in one arena. Fascinating to see the different nuances of each discipline.

The rain is a good test for the horse's grit and endurance.

He's sweet as pecan pie.
He kind of resembles it also!
