Shea, I am a 67-year-old who who was a little girl who always asked for a pony for Christmas and would run to look out the back window instead of to the Christmas tree first. You are living out the dream that I never got to. I'm just so happy for you that Jiminy is going to be all right that I'm going to buy some of the sugar scrub. I don't have horses but I have four dogs and and have fostered at least a couple hundred dogs for local rescue. We work with them in a very similar way to the way you work with your horses. It's clear you have a really good understanding of not only applied behavioral analysis but also just good old-fashioned common sense. I love that you follow the horses lead. I tell my adopters all the time that they have to follow their new dogs time table not theirs. Please keep up the good work and sharing all your triumphs and challenges with us. I left my horses 6 years ago, miss them the most, but my point is, I never got my horses till I was 45. It's never too late but you might wanna make sure your on a very safe horse. Bones don't mend well at this age. I was stuck with a broken arm for 7 months. We don't heal well after 50. Js. ❤
It is so sweet that Jiminy will eat the mash when he is being hand fed. It is obvious that he is greatly comforted by Shae’s presence at the vet hospital. I will pray for Jiminy❤.
I lost my mare in the summer of 2023, she was 24yrs old and her heart failed her. My heart was broken. I started watching your channel about 2 months ago and I enjoy your videos. After watching a few of your videos I was moved to getting another horse, so I adopted a mustang and I get to pick it up this October. I'm glad that Jiminey is on the road to recovery.
Another example of how life is so fragile. We should always appreciate each and every day the Lord gives us ! Praying that Jiminey has a quick and complete recovery 🙏❤
My 24 year old horse had a lipoma wrapped around his illium, same operation. He was hospitalised forc3 weeks the very gentle exercise and we had to treat the wound with honey. It took 6 to 9 months recovery. He's 28 now and still ridden/driven 2 to 3 times per week. Good luck Jiminey xx
Heartbreaking to see Jiminy recovering from surgery. I had a mare twist her intestines at a horse show. We trailered her to Purdue University in the middle of the night and she had surgery. It was the longest night of my life, and a very long recovery with lots of stall rest with hand walking only -slowly increasing amount every few days. Also, it cost $4000 back in the late 80s, would love to hear how much it is now. I'm sure the cost would be eye-opening for your viewers.
No, you wouldn't want to know the cost. 😊 My dog had to have surgery on his cheek to remove an imbedded thorn, it cost $850 and that was relatively cheap. The veterinary hospital was quoting me a price of up to $10,000 depending on "what they found". At that time we did not know what it was. Took him to a wonderful country vet, he saw the thorn in an ex-ray. There's a lot more to the story but this is the short version. The long version can get boring. LOL
My best friend’s horse died an agonizing death from a twisted intestine. The vet was out multiple times, but he died suddenly in horrible pain. I’m glad you took him and that they did surgery. You did the right thing for him.
Same thing happened to my twins sisters mare. She was gone for 2 days from the barn where she worked, Stopped at the barn to check her mare when she got home and it was obvious that the mare had been in distress for awhile-at least 2 days.. The people at the barn never called her nor contacted a vet. Long story short she lost "Easy" on the trailer taking her to Purdue up in Lafayette Ind. Twisted intestine.
Yes, you could see it in his eyes when she started hand feeding him the mash. He just needed a little pampering from his momma. We all do when we don't feel well. Even my non-snuggly dog comes to me for comfort when he doesn't feel well, or when there are loud noises like fireworks. He hates fireworks and we live about 5 blocks from where they shoot them off. Sometimes the will have them every night for a week for various occasions. On those nights we give him a mild seditive. It really helps!
The look in his eyes is the same as a sick person or someone in pain. It's heartbreaking when they can't tell you how they really feel. I hope he does well as he recovers.
❤you are such a beautiful person and a careing one you take such good care of your horse's I love you so much for everything you do for them thank you so much for being there for them
You acting so quickly probably saved his life! I hope he recovers soon! This year we had to spend 4000$ on surgery for our cat. It was worth it, and he feels much better now. Animals are expensive!
my dog recently collapsed so we rushed to the University vet hospital - he had a tumor in his intestine - so far he's doing really well following surgery
So glad for you that Jiminy will recover. I am 74 now & can't afford a horse any more. I do miss them so much. I get to relive my time with my horses through you. I do thank you more then you could ever know. ❤
@@terryt.1643 Become a foster fur mom..Many of these rescues provide food and medical care..they are in desperate need of homes to temporarily house these dogs cats rabbits until a permanent home is found..You'd be saving a life, while enjoying the company of a pup without the financial burden.
No betrayal. He knows he isn't feeling well and that you love him, and that is what he needs. Your reassurance. Even with the twitch, he knows he felt awful. You are his security blanket.
I hope Jiminy continues to improve. This is a huge lesson for anyone who wants to own a horse.. or any other animal for that matter. They can go their whole lives without issues, or they can suddenly need thousands of dollars of care. Please don’t own an animal without being able to afford some type of care for them🥰 I just had to spend over a thousand dollars on my 16 yr old lab and this was the first time he’s had an issue. Thank God we could afford it😢.
yes this is why I do not own animals but love them vicariously through YT.....also the fact they cannot tell us what is wrong I would find too stressful as a worry wort.
It's us who thank you for taking such quick action with Jiminey when you saw he was off ... We lost two old rescue horses late last year, one to sudden colic and her daughter to ulcers we had a specialist$$ treat for months. Both were in terrible pain that did not respond to banamine and we had to make a quick decision. This week we planted a willow tree in their memory where they are buried. Jiminey was really glad to see you and I am sure you will take great care of him when he comes home.🐎💌
I had to take one of my cats to an emergency hospital and after 4 days and several tests they couldn't find any thing wrong. Cost $7000. She was 15 and lived another 4 years. I loved her dearly, so worth the cost to me. Love and support to you and Jiminey.
OMG it always puts me on pins and needles. I had a 30 year old horse named banjo he was a good old boy and had a heart attack I was walking him on his lead I will never get over that. He has the best care in my prayers and thoughts are with all you all and Jiminy
I know that Golden Retrievers are prone to cancer and got insurance on my heart dog Gus who I had just before Auggie. Gus was a rescue who was a therapy dog who visited mentally ill teens and adults every week. We also went to a local university during mid-terms and finals as well as other stress relief therapy requests. He was 18 months old when we rescued him. He was diagnosed with lymphoma and thank goodness for his insurance. We were also very fortunate to get a grant that had been given to his therapy organization by PetSmart (so to all of you who give an extra $1 or $2 at PetSmart your money does help so much!). Insurance covered $9,000. We lost him in 2019 to kidney failure but we had an extra 2.5 years because of his treatment. I totally understand doing everything you can.
His whole demeanor changed when you were in the stall with him and his eyes were so much brighter and then softer when you talked to him. That kind of love and connection showed through in the video even though, as you said, he’s not a snugglely horse. He just loves you Jiminey-style, and that’s a gift every day. Feel better soon, Big Guy!
He keeps looking out like, "I have been from one side of the country to the other, and I have never been in a place like this!" Positive thoughts for both of you!
Theres night and day between the way he looked on arrival at MSU and how he looked post op . I hope he continues to keep making progress under his rehab routine back home . Lost a horse to colic in under five hours the most distressing thing I have ever seen in my life .
The stress and fear of our horses being sick is just as scary and heartbreaking as when our kids are sick. The stress is real. I'm sorry you had to go through that but thank goodness your on the better end of the trauma...
I’m glad you could afford to take care of him. A lot of people would be forced to put their horse or whatever down. You are blessed to be able to do this intensive expensive care.
Your quick action in taking him for treatment certainly saved him a lot of pain. Heart warming to see such selfless compassion. Praying for complete recovery
I lost two heart horses to colic each one after trying to save them with colic surgery, so this stirs up a lot of emotion for me.The first horse 10 yrs old got illeus after colic surgery and never came home after surgery. The second was my heart horse I lost 2 years ago. She was 26 yrs old and I had had her since she was 3 yrs old. She had colic surgery and coliced and died 6 months later. On top of that the two hospital stays and surgeries pretty much wiped out my retirement savings. I am very glad to hear Jiminey is doing so well. For many horses colic surgery is successful and buys them many more years. I hope Jiminey is one of them. I know you are not a fan of opinions so I will just leave you with this. Keep an eye on Jiminey long after recovery. He may not want to go through another freezing winter outside at night. 24 or 26 is old for a horse and he may need extra tlc. Once a horse esp an older horse starts colic, there may possibly be many more ahead. This last tip is from smartpak and a good reminder. I know you will know all this but others may not. Changing hay, including changing types or switching to a new cutting of the same type, can increase a horses colic risk 10 times! Plus, any changes in grain can increase a horses risk up to 5 times! Lastly from my vet an older horses intestines start to lose motility and the ability to push feed through. Make sure they get a lot of water. Don't over grain and make their grain more like a grain soup to hydrate as much as possible. I am so worried about Jiminey. I hope Jiminey will feel better soon. This is the hardest part of owning a horse.
I remember having to take my miniature Schnauzer to Ohio State University when he was very ill. I certainly was upset, but knowing that the level of care provided by OSU was very comforting. Granted, Monty was a dog, not a horse, but the experience is the same. I feel for you, Shae and pray for you and Jiminy. 🤗
Poor Jiminey, what a horrible experience. He is in good hands, 😍 I hate having animals in the hospital, I'm so afraid they will think I have abandoned them. 😢
Speaking as a person whose small intestine twisted and burst when I was 24, I feel for you and JC. It’s no fun having surgery and rehab stinks! Thinking of you both. ❤❤❤❤
I feel so bad for him 😢 seeing animals in pain just breaks my heart. Praying for jiminy’s fasts recovery. I hope everything turns out fine! Prayers shae! ❤❤❤
I am sending Jiminy and FSE all the love and prayers. Jiminy brings joy to all of your followers. I know God will do everything in his power to help Jiminy. Please give him some pats and kisses from all of us! 🙏❤️
Poor little baby. He just doesn't understand that being at the hospital is helping him. Jiminey sure loved having you there. Prayers that he gets all better soon.
I just learned that these lipomas are happening more frequently to elder horses…They said more frequently only because horses lives are thankfully getting extended because they know so much more about their nutrition. I just thought I would share for those of us not lucky enough to have one of those Beautiful animals!❤️
Poor Jiminey, It's so hard because you can't explain to the horse or any furbaby what's going on. He was so pleased to see you and it was good to see he wanted to eat. My thoughts are with you and Jiminey. xx
Love to see responsible loving parents. I've put out thousands of dollars for my rescued dog. We had many years together and I never hesitated to do everything I could for her. Unfortunately, she passed in May. I enjoy watching your channel and appreciate you sharing everything!
MSU has a highly respected veterinary school at Michigan State University, for those who aren’t familiar with the MSU reference. For Shae and Jiminey’s sake, it’s fortunate to have such a top-notch facility relatively close to FSE.
I don’t have horses, but I’ve had dogs that had issues arise over the years. When your heart is fully invested, you just do the best you can and pray it’s enough. I hope your beautiful boy recovers fully and is back home soon.
His eyes look better. I could tell he was hurting by his eyes. He wants your attention. He needed his mom. All better now to have your smell and voice around him. He is feeling better. Much better. Very good pee. He is in the best place; the safest place. But, he needs you close.
Thank goodness he's on the rode to recovery. My thoughts and tons of positive energy are with Jiminy and the whole fam/herd. I can't imagine your stress and panic. You two started it all, and you can really see your bond. ❤
I had friends with a beautiful young Morgan. Maybe 6 years old. A neighbor looking through his back window noticed the horse acting strangely in the paddock, rolling, standing up, distending his neck, hanging his head, stretching his neck low, moving his legs strangely, rolling again. It was just weird behavior. The neighbor called the friends of mine to let them know what was going on with their horse in the paddock, and they loaded him up and took him straight to UVM. Their beautiful horse was all colicky and twisted inside. I don’t remember the exact diagnosis, but despite the best efforts of the vet, he died later that night. Inspire of their enormous size, they can have the most delicate constitutions. I am so sorry your baby is struggling. Glad MSU could help your Jiminy. I hope and pray he makes a full recovery. Such a sweetie pie.
These are the times we wish our beloved animals could talk and tell us how they're feeling and specifically what hurts. Glad to hear your sweet boy is on the mend. Thank you for showing us that responsible horse ownership isn't always honey and roses. (Except now, an apple scrub might have to be in my future!😂)
Glad to hear Jiminey is doing better. ❤ Can't imagine having much of an appetite being in a strange place with strangers, no mom handing out the occasional treat, no herd buddies, an IV stuck in your neck, an abdomen with some discomfort, but also, how much of an appetite could you possibly work up standing for hours in a stall doing nothing? 😊 Nice to hear he will be able to come home soon! Looking forward to his return home and updates!
i am so sorry that Jiminey is sick. Watching him in the stall and you hand feeding him brought tears to my eyes, those tears ran over and down my cheeks. You are such a good mom to all our animals but especially with Jiminey. You are a good person with a big heart for all you animals. You are the best Shae. I almost forgot to thank you for giving us this up date on him. I look forward to knowing how he is during his recovery time. Thank you so much for caring about all of us, your followers, about your animals and all that you do for us too.
It is always alarming to hear an animal is regressing. But I know that whatever is/was wrong with Jiminey was going to change for the better. So this update becomes more positive with time, treatment and following a treatment plan. I m eager to learn the final analysis in this update!! But, for the moment, it is the long wait for the final report to date! ☮️💟🙏🙏🙏♥️🐎♥️ 👍🥰
Am so glad Jim is feeling better. My Shadow had a colicky situation. The vet came out. She put a tube down thru and put electrolytes in. He had to stay in his “house” - I only had the one horse. She left medication in shot form which I dosed him with once a day. What ever caused it, by the end of 2 weeks, he was well again and I was so thankful. It is hard not knowing and I loved him dearly. He was calm and sweet. I miss him. I lost him and my adopted greyhound almost at the same time. It was a rough year. I enjoy watching all of your horse videos and appreciate seeing them so much!! Prayers for you and Kyle.
So glad Jiminy is out of the woods. I know how your feel. My heart is with you.😥 Had my rescue cat of 9 yrs at the vet this week. Being 64 I was beside myself. She is the last of my 4 pets. Lost 1 dog 13 yrs to old age/ organ failure, Lost 1 dog of 15 yrs to cancer. Lost my old cat to kidney failure at 17 yrs. So one can only imagine the concern for that sentient being. They are all so precious. Be strong. Much love.💞
So thankful to the vet staff at the University! I'm glad you have a place you can trust to take him to and leave him in good hands, must be so scary to leave a horse ESPECIALLY when they are sick. Sending good thoughts 🙏
That's the worst feeling when your horse isn't feeling well. Thank goodness he's on the mend. It was interesting to watch him relax more & more when you visited him at MSU. He went from being pretty vigilant, looking through the bars, to being willing to eat out of your hand, to yawning & stretching, then looking for more food. He just needed his mama to know it was ok. He's a darling boy. Best wished for his rehab. ♥
I am glad Jiminey is doing better. Seeing you feed him his mash by hand reminded me how us horse lovers do not care about anything dirty or messy when it comes to our babies. I remember the look my boyfriend gave me when he saw me reach into a horses full water bucket to clean hay out of it or when he saw me mix up some mash with my bare hand cause I couldn't find the wooden spoon.
Sending you my heartfelt prayers. We lost our beloved horse Smokey this past Saturday. First treated for colic by the vet, then to the equine hospital and it was too late. His belly tap had blood in it. His lactic acid was high and his small intestines had died. He was 22 years old. Fine one day and gone the next. We are devastated. I know what you are going through. ❤❤❤
@@freespiritequestrianthank you so much. They thought my Smokey might have had a strangulating lipoma as well. The vet at our hospital said they see it frequently in horses his age (22).

Shea I feel your pain. I’ve lost three precious horses over the years. For two of them I had to make the excrutiatingly hard decision to free from unrelenting and unresolvable pain. More recently, I lost my 19 year old thoroughbred a couple of weeks ago. He was strong and healthy and enjoyed 24 hour access to pasture. He was walking back toward the barn with his pasture buddy, and just collapsed and died. It’s assumed he either had a heart attack or aneurism. Sometimes it’s just out of our hands, even though we tend to blame ourselves. I’m praying for Jiminy’s full recovery. ❤️🩹

Yes absolutely ❤️
wise wise words 🐴❤️🩹🥹🙏🏻
yes this is why I do not own animals but love them vicariously through YT.....also the fact they cannot tell us what is wrong I would find too stressful as a worry wort.
I also have a lab that's doing bad and his back legs dont work and Ik we might hav3 to put him down even though we had him for only a year :(
@@Guestmm2fr I’m so sorry. Maybe they can find some joint supplements to help?
It is so scary when your best animal friend is ill. It’s good that you have a premier animal hospital to go to.
So sorry you had to go through this😢
His whole demeanor changed when you were in the stall with him and his eyes were so much brighter and then softer when you talked to him. That kind of love and connection showed through in the video even though, as you said, he’s not a snugglely horse. He just loves you Jiminey-style, and that’s a gift every day. Feel better soon, Big Guy!
I’ve had two horses that presented symptoms like Jiminy. It’s very scary. I sincerely hope he makes a full recovery.
Poor Jiminy, he ate up that hay like he'd never been fed in his life 😂 I'm so glad he can come home soon!
So sorry 😢I’ve been through 8 horse deaths. Never heals. Just part of loving these beautiful creatures I guess❤
I am so so glad they caught Jiminy's issue on time! Prayers for a speedy recovery for him!
I’m so glad Jiminey is still alive, FSE wouldn’t be the same without him ❤❤❤ hope he’ll get better very soon
So glad he pulled through...each day is a gift.
Prayers for Jiminy's full recovery. I know he will be happier being home with you.
The stress and fear of our horses being sick is just as scary and heartbreaking as when our kids are sick. The stress is real. I'm sorry you had to go through that but thank goodness your on the better end of the trauma...
Poor Jiminy😢 and poor Shea, having a beloved animal suffering is the worst. Be well ❤❤
I’m glad you could afford to take care of him. A lot of people would be forced to put their horse or whatever down. You are blessed to be able to do this intensive expensive care.
GET WELL SOON HEART HORSE
Colic is such a scary situation on many levels. Glad you acted quickly and he's recovering.
Becoming senior isn't easy especially if you have gut problems. I'm glad that he's feeling better and hope the problem is resolved.
I’m so glad that you took quick action to get him medical care. It really makes such a difference. Speedy recovery dear boy.
I had surgery June 6, they told me three month recovery, I’m better, my heart goes out to him I’ve been there, good luck.
You seem like you have an old soul. I thought you were older, not because of how you look, but how you carry yourself and you kindness.
Thank you 😊
I feel so bad for him 😢 seeing animals in pain just breaks my heart. Praying for jiminy’s fasts recovery. I hope everything turns out fine! Prayers shae! ❤❤❤
Poor baby! It's no wonder he was grumpy with Naveen at the introduction. Blessings for you all.
So glad that Jiminey is better. What a scare. Now the healing begins. Loving thoughts to you all.🩵💙🤍
Sweet Jiminy gets to be completely spoiled while in recovery. 😊 Probably being home in his own place will help.
Yes, it’s so interesting.
We are so lucky to have MSU in our backyard. So glad Jiminey is feeling better. You being able to visit him lifts both your spirits. ❤
This is Cathy..We are praying for Jiminey, you and Kyle. Thank you so much for this update..❤️U all
His eyes look better. I could tell he was hurting by his eyes. He wants your attention. He needed his mom. All better now to have your smell and voice around him. He is feeling better. Much better. Very good pee. He is in the best place; the safest place. But, he needs you close.
Jiminey is a strong boy, you can tell. I know he is going to make a full recovery.
Thank goodness he's on the rode to recovery. My thoughts and tons of positive energy are with Jiminy and the whole fam/herd. I can't imagine your stress and panic. You two started it all, and you can really see your bond. ❤
To provide That Kind of True Comfort to ANY Innocent Sentient Being is truly good for the Soul. . .
I'm glad Jiminey is on the mend. Take care....I'm sending good energy your way. Don't forget to take care of yourself. Love to you and yours.❤
Poor Jiminey, I'm so glad to see him feeling better . I hope he makes a speedy recovery and is soon back home. Love to you all❤❤❤❤
I had friends with a beautiful young Morgan.
Praying for Jiminy.
Ahhhh, poor Jiminey! Sending love and healing energy to him and his humans.
❤ He was so happy to see his mama. I hope he keeps on improving.
i am so sorry that Jiminey is sick.
Jiminey is literally so magically beautiful. His eyes are so sweet. Never leave him.
Poor buddy! That is a big incision…ouch!
I’m so glad Jiminey is feeling so much better hope he has a speedy recovery! Feel so bad for him poor horse! 😞❤️
Jiminey is in my prayers. Hope he recovers nicely.
Those eyes!!! Ugh... his eyes just say, "Mommmmm, I'm not liking this, but I love you and soooo happy you're here!!!"
So glad Jiminy is out of the woods.
I know how your feel. My heart is with you.😥
Had my rescue cat of 9 yrs at the vet this week. Being 64 I was beside myself. She is the last of my 4 pets.
Lost 1 dog 13 yrs to old age/ organ failure,
Lost 1 dog of 15 yrs to cancer.
You being there with him is the BEST medicine ever.
I feel so bad for you all. I will keep Jiminey in my prayers. Thank you for the update
I want to come back as Shae’s horse. The best treatment and all the love I can imagine.
Jiminy is in all my prayers and I wish for the best ❤
As my Gma always said, "you have to eat a little bit.." to feel better. So hardto leave him. That little nicker was so heart wrenching
I’m incredibly sorry 😞
@@freespiritequestrianthank you so much. They thought my Smokey might have had a strangulating lipoma as well. The vet at our hospital said they see it frequently in horses his age (22).
So sorry for your loss❤🐎

Thank you for sharing all of this with us, Shae. Sending prayers 🙏for Jiminey's rapid recovery. What a lucky horse to have you as his Mom! Prayers for you and Kyle, too. You do a great job on your channel. 👍🐎
So glad Jiminey is so much better. He will feel so much better when he is home.
I’m so sorry :(
Poor jimminey😢 I’m sending you lots of love and hoping that jimminey can make a full recovery❤
