The One Where We Say Goodbye

- Not much to say here. We reminisce about the past four and a half years of Monsters & Multiclass and talk about what the shows meant to the three of us.
We know this is the right call for us, but it is hard to say goodbye. This episode gave us a lot of closure, and for our fans that, feel they need that I hope this does for you as well.

When I started listening, I didn't imagine you'd get through all the multiclasses, or basically all of the monster manual. So many smaller podcasts fall through without explanation, and you all managed to do everything you set out to and more. The format was great, and the hosts even better. Thank you for the Nagpa, for eagle smites, and for kung fu bears. Thank you for the summer of frogs, necromancer bards, and for palirderers. Ya'll brightened so many of my days, and I'm glad the show's ending on the high note it deserves.
Your comment is like a nostalgia bomb. SUMMER OF FROGS
Seriously such a great idea, idk how we got on that but it was wonderful
Best of luck with film school, parenthood, and... swashbuckling, I guess, whatever Will is up to. Your thoroughness and chemistry has been a consistent source of entertainment, and as someone with an hour-long commute, the length fit *perfectly* .
Thanks so much for your insightful comments. They were always wonderful
Thank you for sharing your expirience transitioning while making the podcast. You've been a really helpful role model to me over the years and I think I would be in a worse place with my own body image without you.
I want you guys to know that the reason I watched and Patreon’d you was never the mechanics (though I enjoyed that part). It has always been the chemistry you collectively have. Whatever game you get into, I’m sure I’d enjoy hearing you talk about it, and would be back here whenever you are.
Thanks for everything, and good luck with all that you’ll be doing!
Thank you Muddle. Seeing the outpour of support has tipped the bittersweet scale firmly into sweet.
It hurts to walk away from all this but maybe one day we can come back in some form. Or we'll forever fade to obscurity. Who knows haha
I don't know if I have shared this before, but my dad is the one who taught me how to play DND in the first place and got me into this hobby 18 years ago, and she started her transition in 2017. So, Ellie, watching you go through your transition, I felt in a lot of ways like I was with you every step of the way despite you not knowing me outside of a comment on RUclips here and there. So I'm sorry my support has always been silent; I suppose I just didn't know how to say this before now.
As for the whole crew, I have been a regular fan for a couple of years now and I appreciate everything you three have done over the years. Your show has been a lot of fun for me and I'm sad to see it go, but I'm happy for you and everything you've got coming up. And if you decide to come back, you'll still have one fan!
Sorry to see you go. Thanks for all you did to make this work for 4 years.
ill still watch both your monk/druid videos for years to come. Thank you all
Good. Those episodes rock.
I'm going to miss this show! Thank you and best wishes! 💜🏳⚧
I've been a casual listener for a while, ever since I saw a random Reddit post advertising a new episode (I can't remember which one it was, I am sorry). I found the concept really neat. I haven't always been on board with the podcast (I had a panic attack every time someone on the cast waved away a barbarian multiclass because "well that multiclass can't possibly make sense because X class doesn't make sense raging and all barbarians do is rage and get angry" THERE IS SO MUCH MORE NARRATIVE POTENTIAL THERE GOD DAMN IT), but I always thought the niche you all filled was just so neat and enjoyable that it did always keep me coming back for more. I am upset to hear you go, but I do agree that a solid ending is better than just going on forever until you die. I'd rather you be the Good Place than the Simpsons, which may be an analogy that literally only makes sense to me.
Just to show my own dumb ass with how I only kept up with the podcast casually, at some point I downloaded an episode and thought "who's this new voice? did they pick up a new host? where'd that other guy go did he get replaced", and then I had to dig through the archives until I found the answer and put the pieces together of "oh! transition. got it. nice, very cool".
It was a pleasure watching you all over the last few years. We will definitely miss you all.
Thanks for all the content you've made. I personally really enjoyed both the long form content and the more conversational style. I do watch other videos where they're clearly using a script, but your approach and the chemistry between the three of you was something special.
Personally I would probably watch similar content with the three of you discussing any topic (within reason e.g. films, TV, other ttrpgs), but I definitely understand that you all need a break.
Thanks also for making this video. Parasocial relationships are a strange thing, and it makes it easier to have this kind of closure episode.
So long and thanks for all the memories!
I am the void you shouted into, only listening on spotify i actually hadn't seen your faces until today , you are the second podcast I am loosing this year , this one on a bittersweet note the other when they threw a tantrum. I loved every video and will rewatch until I can no more , thank you guys , thanks for hours and hours I never want back
No tantrums here! We keep all of the yelling at each other for off the record hehe
nah I think we were happy to go out not just as the SAME friends but even closer because of the experience.
I love these 2. Yes, even Will.
-Jarred
Yall had some of the best observations imho. I only found ya yesterday, so yeah. I listen to this stuff while i clean and cook at home, which is everyday. So thanks. Hope to see yall return
As someone who started getting into the D&D scene really recently. This channel/podcast has been a lot of fun and very helpful.
I for one would love to see a revival in the future covering pathfinder and an actual new d&d edition.
Maybe if you three come back you all could cover unofficial add ons and homebrew?
But even if you don't come back, im very happy to have come across this channel, and hope for the best with all the awesome life stuff coming your way!
Congrats, friends, on years of well-done content that certainly got me more invested in these games that we all know and love!
I just discovered you guys today. I wish you so the best. I'm immediately a big fan.
I'll miss this show. I remember hopping on when there was some reddit giveaway, can't for the life of me remember when it was or what it was for. But it's been a while and it'll be strange not to see it around anymore, or to have an episode to listen to now and again.
My first episode with you was the Bard/Sorcerer. Went back and listened to the earlier ones and kept up with you from there.
Raise a glass, everybody! You deserve it!
Ellie: kill it at film school!
Jarred: trust me, kids get funnier as they get older, so keep your sense of humor!
Will: SWASHBUCKLERS ARE NOT PIRATES. (Jarred, you were right. It wasn't the last time I'd tell you that.)
Seriously, thanks for the laughs, the conversations, the insights into the nuts and bolts of 5e. I hope you enjoyed the ride as half as much as I have. And you all know how get a hold of me to hit me up for a talk.
Thanks so much Bob.
I am sure we'll talk more and play games together. Hopefully this leaves MORE time for that.
I'm really sorry to hear your ending the show.
I really enjoyed so many of your episodes.
Best of luck to all of you with whatever comes next.
Hey thanks for the content . Ill miss you guys.
As a massive fan of long form discussions about very specific topics I have very much so enjoyed every episode that you all have put out, I appreciate the amount of thought that went into this show and how you didn't just make it a copy of every other ranking or tier list, you actually had discussions and found some surprises that can work in very specific situations.
I wish you all the best in your future endeavors
Love you. Big congrats on a fantastic run. Meg's congrats to Ellie on being Ellie. I have been listening via a podcast catcher, coming back here to say thank you
Thanks so much!
Thank you so much! I can't count how many of my days were made better by this podcast. You all brought such an amazing energy, and I'm so happy I found you. Best of luck on the next journeys you take, and thank you!
So long and thanks for all the crits!
1:17 Actually, RAW, I'm not crying, you're crying
Been great listening to/watching y'all, I wish you all luck with your future plans! If you do ever come back I'll see you then
Was a real pleasure guys. I always loved your videos and inputs on all the mechanics. I used a few of your monster ideas for my own campaign, and in general, you guys are awesome and I wish you all the best !
p.s.
dungeon dudes are making a multiclass series right now that they totally took the idea from you ;)
They're gonna copy us and then rate all of the multiclasses and I have never been more upset. You have ruined my day /s
Im glad we helped you along the way!
My favorite episodes are Orcus, the bodak, and the twilight and peace domain cleric episodes. The first two because they're just so deadly and the later two because everyone was like "wtf, why did Wotc give the cleric so much love, and why do they hate the monk?" And listening to the ideas and banter/rant during those episodes especially always beings a smile.
Good luck to each of you and I wish you all the best in life and future endeavors.
I love long form content, would love to see more Pf2E, only just recently found you all (I think because of Pf2e), and if you ever come back in the future I hope I find you all sooner.
Hoping that you find inspiration for making more creative content of something at some future point because you folks are awesome! Thanks for all you have given us. Take care of yourselves and enjoy life! ❤👍
I've enjoyed your content, thanks for contributing!
It was fun while lasted.
Thx for the podcast and good luck on what every you folks do.
loved watching you guys, thanks for the game ideas and the laughs
And thanks for laughing along with us!
Ot sucks to see you go when i found you so recently but i hope the futer is amazing to you all.
Really sad to see y’all go! Goodbye!
Fell out of touch (though still watched) after I left Twitter. Sorry to hear this, but good luck in whatever comes next for all of you!
Damn it's been 10months :') I hope everyone is doing well irl!
Ellie's been killing it in film school. I (Jarred) have a wonderful baby and have started working on my actual life goal which is running a bagel company.

We're still playing (mostly) every week and once this campaign wraps up we'll be switching over to PF2e most likely
*hugs*
✌️
Goodby, it was a fun journey
Thanks for coming on that journey with us!
It was great context for walks
Thank you for sharing and putting on the podcast for three years!! :3 I know i joined late as a viewer, and I haven't been watching lately because well I stepped away from d&d personally for a bit
It was a really good show!! :D
edit: I think this is a good departure, you have exciting events waiting all three of you!! n-n :D

I was randomly thinking about this again. Thank you for posting these. I actually made a 6 Paladin 2 Monk
13 Str 16 Dex 10 Con 8 Int 14 Wis 14 Cha -- If I was Half-elf, 12 Con would be great
D&D is for everyone
Karina (She/Her) out -- bye until your hiatus is over
I'm not sure if I'm going to move onto Dnd 5.5, just going to do homebrew or move onto a different system. ICRPG because I'm a gonzo dm (as in I want my players to feel like anime protagonist)
If you want to get a *FREE* shirt please reach out to Monstersandmulticlass@gmail.com or on Patreon if you're one of our patrons.
Thank you so much for all the support over the years, or if it was just for the last 2 weeks. Either way we appreciate all of you.
See you dungeon cowboy 😉
Edit: I have had some people offering to pay for the shirts. I just want to clarify that our plan is to pay for this out of pocket. If that changes for any reason we'll warn you. But we just want to share the love
Sad.
No be sad because over. Be happy because happen
It really has been wonderful watching Ellie come into her own and transition on the show💜
Glad you guys hit your end state!
Goodbye
Peace fam
