    You can never have too many clamps or too much space in your shop for clamps. I love how you could come back and hang a few dozen barrel clamps to the sides of this rack AND still have storage space on top. Great shop project.

    I want to commend you on two levels. First, you are excellent teacher. I think it is great that you admit when you make a “colossal mistake”. Most you tubers would just edit it out. Secondly, I think it is great that you incorporate your whole family into your channel. If you keep making videos I’ll keep watching.

    He's right about getting discounts on slightly damaged sheets. Just this week I needed a sheet of melamine; 4x8. I knew I only needed about a third of the sheet because I was making a table top for my drill press. I found one that had a somewhat significant gouge in a single part of the sheet. A manager at the 'orange' place gave me that $28 sheet for 7 bucks. It pays to ask for a discount on things. If you don't ask the answer is always NO. If you do ask I figure the chances are minimum 50/50.

    • @TrailTrackers
      @TrailTrackers 4 года назад +1

      @ : For sure... About a week ago I was at the 'blue' place picking up a couple sheets of 1/4". There was 1 that was damaged in the end 3rd pretty badly. Knowing that I could still get use out of the remaining 2/3, I asked the guy working that area for a discount on it. He said, "How 'bout $2.50?". Sure enough I took that deal. And then he thanked me for getting it cause he said he was going to throw it away at the end of that day because it had been sitting there a few days.
      I've always had very good luck at both places tbh with damaged stuff. I think they realize they would rather make 'some' money on an item than take the total loss.

    Hi James
    I love sour videos.
    But I have I question about the clamp rack. You produced 11 holders but I could only see 10 rows of clamps. I guess the fourth clamp from the right side has no clamps on it.
    Small mistake 😝

    What drill bit did you use to pre-drill and countersink those deck screws?

  • @eckhardkoehler3013
    @eckhardkoehler3013 2 года назад

    I’m curious, after three years of use do you find having the small light clamps at the bottom to be cumbersome? My thought is that the small clamps would be best up high where they need a little more care to install, and the heavy clamps would go down low where they are easy to slide into place. Bending over to latch the small grip clamps seem like inefficient body movement. As a production carpenter I’m always looking to make movement smoother , quicker, and with less effort in order to reduce costs or body stress.

    • @KingsFineWoodworking
      @KingsFineWoodworking  2 года назад +1

      The truth is, we’ve moved the squeeze clamps mostly to the assembly table. On either end of the table there’s a board for them to attach to. And that’s much easier.
      Also, unfortunately, I’m not the person to ask about streamlining production processes in the shop.
      During the last 6 months I was redesigning & rearranging the shop to make everything easier and more functional.
      And believe it or not. I put this clamp rack halfway around the other side of the shop from the assembly table. Not it’s ridiculously inconvenient to grab parallel clamps.
      Such a dumb oversight. Especially considering how long I’ve been doing this.
      I’m not sure what it is, but I have a hard time setting up for for ease, convenience, and just general shop-flow.
      I think you should move back here and help me!

    So you used 3/4" plywood, how man_ sheets did you use making the really nice looking clamp rack. I don't have as many clamps like you do. It's closer to only 50. I still do not own any of the Bessy or Jet parallel clamps. I have a mixture of Dewalt, Irwin and Harbor Freight. I also have a bunch of pipe clamps and some still need the pipe. I can take pieces of this design to make my own to accommodate 100, which is my goal. I love the little jig you made for creating a line for the screws. Stealing that one!!

    I have a huge problem with my dewalt f clamps slipping. Any of yours slip? Any fix to it? My harbor freight ones have never slipped, and I figured paying 3 1/2 times more for dewalt would be beneficial...not when they can’t even hold slight pressure without popping

    • @KingsFineWoodworking
      @KingsFineWoodworking  5 лет назад

    • @KingsFineWoodworking
      @KingsFineWoodworking  5 лет назад +1

      Hi, I will try and update the links. But sadly it won’t be through Amazon. They terminated my account because I told some viewers that we make a small percentage of the sale. They don’t want us disclosing that. I think it’s because they want it to seem like we recommend them, and that just isn’t true.
      Amazon told me directly that I was not to tell people the truth if asked. And I wasn’t going to lie, or withhold the truth.
      They only want the minimum FTC required disclosure on one page of the entire RUclips channel, and youtubers aren’t allowed to mention it again elsewhere. Yet in many of my videos viewers asked if we made money if they bought through our links. Because I said yes, they closed my account.
      I didn’t even know I was in violation of their terms, until I got an account termination letter.
      However in retrospect, I probably would have told the viewer the truth anyway. I was raised to believe that withholding the truth was the same as lying. And it seems that the Oxford English Dictionary agrees with me on that.
      At any rate, I’m sorry I don’t have alternative links for you at the moment.

    • @thewanderingeye7133
      @thewanderingeye7133 5 лет назад +1

      @@KingsFineWoodworking Hey I am so sorry to hear that, what a ridiculous policy. I see many people disclose that so you may not be alone. What a shame. I thought it was a great business model and you should be compensated and it should be disclosed... I appreciate your integrity as I am sure all your viewers do. BOO to you AMAZON, if you find another supplier I and others would be happy to continue supporting you to everyone's benefit.

      I think Amazon dropped the ball on this one. I regularly went to this and other youtube pages specifically for the affiliate links to support my favorite creators. I don't have to buy from Amazon. They are not the only low price service online. Walmart.com has nearly everything available just like Amazon and often for less money. Their search is not as clean but if you know exactly what you are looking for, you will almost always find it there.
