I don't see the plans..just tool for sale😢
Only one sheet of plywood to hold that many clamps? Amazing! I think I’ll have to put my four kids through college instead though.
Side note: I’ve literally never seen a sheet of “Baltic birch” plywood in person. It’s like it only exists on RUclips woodworking channels.
They sell Baltic Birch plywood at a different kind of lumber store than you are used to. Certainly was a surprise to me when I got into the craft. It's worth a trip to your local hardwood lumber store just to smell the amazing different kinds of wood they have. Until the latest dustup, baltic birch plywood wasn't really that much more expensive than other types considering what you use it for.
“I May have too many clamps”
That’s crazy talk Jonathan
"Jonathan Craps Mucus" almost made me spit my coffee out, man! Loved the randomness of it!
Mr. Moses, I love a guy that can laugh at, or poke fun at himself - or take a negative comment somewhere (if that was the case) and flip it like that. Loved it.
The "keep the gun perpendicular to the edge of the work piece" is a great tip! Thank you.
LOVEITLOVEITLOVEIT, oh yes I LOVEITLOVEITLOVEIT ! ! !
YES! We use this kind if stuff in our school woodshop all the time! And this is a great replacement for our crappy clamp rack
This has so many applications for other tools also. Even garden tools in the garden shed. Thanks sir.
Great point! Could go anywhere
That nailer tip is incredibly valuable, i'd never thought to consider the shape of the nail and if it was more likely to bend 'left/right' instead of 'up/down'
Excellent design and I intend making it as a large door enclosing a shallow cabinet holding my nail guns. I'll be using several barn door hinges and backing behind the hinges on the door. On suggestion is to secure the bottom of the racks with a screw to make sure they don't get loose when I pull off the last clamp. I realize this defeats the portability but it's a reasonable sacrifice to me. Again, thanks for making the plan available. I subscribed a while back.
This is easily one of my most favorite videos of yours! Economical, easily built, explained super well, lots of good tips (nailer ftw), music choices, everything! GIVE EM DA CLAMPS!
This is awesome for small shop DIY’ers. Thank you for your videos and teachings.
Jonathan, I like a ton of what you do but this might be one of my favorite videos. It happens to be something I need to deal with and your timing is perfect. Thank you very much for putting this video together AND for the plans!
I have done everything right. I got my clamps organized this way since 3 years now, and I'm total happy with it. Great video. Simple to make and much more effective. I can just agree with you :)
Just built a half version of this rack to fit my shop. I'm new to woodworking and found the plans and build very straightforward and able to be done in an afternoon. It is AWESOME. Such a flexible and compact system. Thanks so much Jonathan!
Being able to change the rack as you go is amazing as you’re always buying new clamps and tools. Keep up the great work as the goal is for us to continue to inspire others to build something awesome! 👍🏼
It's the best!
I built a clamp rack similar to this a few months ago and it truly is the most flexible design out there. Got some ideas for some different clamp holders from you, so thanks for sharing the video and the plans for everyone.
Made the jewelry box from you video a couple weeks ago. Came out great and my wife loved it.
Awesome!
I just made these and I really like them. My first French cleat and definitely not my last. Thank you for posting this.
Very cool project. Good job!
Man, I wish I had seen this a year ago. I made Malecki's adjustable rack and thought it was sweet until this morning.
Great build idea, as always. Definitely on my list!
10:37 I had a similar idea for when I get around to making my own clamp holders.
Great idea! Thanks for sharing as I can't wait to build one myself.
I've seen a couple of makers talk about the toggle anchors recently. I've been using them for years. I made a pot rack out of galvanized pipe that I've been able to hang on any wall, where ever I've been with those toggle anchors. They are great. Great job on the french cleat wall.
You’re a good man with free plans as well. I know this is some builders only job, but I always like providing for free as it helps inspire more people to build something awesome! 👍🏼
Thank you my friend!
I’m slowly building up a shop and French cleat system in general has been my go-to. So versatile, robust, strong, cheap… and I don’t feel like I need to design everything all at once. I can change things as I see fit and build custom whatever’s that fit within the system I already have. When “moving things from wall to bench” idea was mention, I immediately though “oh, that’s exactly what I do all the time”, so it’s just an added bonus to the whole system.
Just received my new apron and…WOW!!! Exceeded my expectations by a huge margin…very well made to last for years. Thank you!!!
I agree. Really impressive quality. Likewise for his stop block.
Loving the enthusiasm and the tongue in cheek humour Jonathan. Always a great day when a JKM video lands...Thank you for the ongoing content. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you for your plans.
Awesome! Thanks for the video and the free plans.
Looks great! Maybe you could put an empty cleat on your work bench or finish station to hang a rack temporarily while you do a glue up
Came here to get some ideas for storing my clamps, but left with some valuable knowledge on why I'm getting nail gun blowouts. Thank you!
I'm imagining a 10-12' section of the wall with all kinds of things hanging on there. No reason the hangers couldn't be modified and used for virtually anything that you want to hang on the wall. Brooms, clamps, hammers/mallets ... even the lawn chairs that I somehow keep convincing myself should be stored in my workspace. Great idea.
Thank you so much for this idea. My work shop(high school program) is to the point that I need a new system, and this may work perfect. Simple to use, simple for my kids to build, and I can have them create a logo that I have to CNC in. THANK YOU!
I made a french cleat wall in my shop and love it! I store my lumber on it because I have a small space. I built hangers that look just like your clamp rack hangers but enclosed them the whole way around. I have atleast 1000lbs of wood on there probably more and it's never moved. If you're going to use it for lumber and heavy stuff i suggest you use 4" cleats and attach them to studs with 2 fasteners in each stud. You're probably ok with drywall anchors but you know you're good if you attach it to the studs for heavy stuff.
Justin - Can you send a picture of how you enclosed them. I’m very interested.
Awesome way to utilize a full sheet of plywood and maximize your use of wall space. I like it a lot!
Once again, a fantastic video. I will be building this in the garage/shop. Thank you!!
J. Jonah Jameson and Francis Clampatso in one episode? Truly a man of culture.
Greasing up my whoosits! They're all rusted from snitch juice.

Really enjoy all of your videos, full of information and very inspiring as well. I really appreciate it. Thank you!
Most Excellent!
Those new anchors are the only ones I have used for several years! Highly reccomended!
Very nice and simple Style. Thank you for this idea
Great video adding to my list of shop projects
Great work on this storage solution.
Always the Best idea... AndThe most important, easy to built it.
Simple yet effective. Love the Futurama reference. That will be a mandatory component of my clamp rack as well. Now to buy a Laser CNC...
I just made a French clear system last night and then you posted this! Perfect for my next attachment!
Also... GIVE EM THE CLAMPS!!!
Very cool design! I've been needing to build a clamp rack and I will definitely take inspiration from this set up. Keep up the good work!
I will DEFINITELY BE MAKING THIS THANK YOU
I love the use of the "cleat" system. It's a tried and true type method.
Yup, learned that lesson a long ago about the nails.
I made something similar, only difference I did was, I made mine all 1 size. Reason is, "you can never have enough clamps". I'm always adding more and more clamps. You might want to add some wax to those holders or some other type of sealer. Even though you made this with plywood, moisture, humidity will effect them over time. Great video, cheers :)
I'm a simple man. Jonathan post a video, I like it.
You are an awesome teacher! Love your videos
We made a clamp rack from your free plans. It came out perfect. Thank you for the free plans and your video.
Great brad nail gun tip! And adding Clamps to a clamp rack was genius!! 😂👍
Love this
From a single sheet... That's awesome!
I really like the clamp rack design! Have to give you recognition for helping a school. There just isn't enough schools, classes and teachers available to the public.
And you cant possibly be an ounce over 137 and a half with your super buff physique! 💪
Awesome idea thanks
Cool!!! Great Project!!!! Thank You!!!!👍😎✌
This is timely. Spending time yesterday planing up some oak on a bench (very loose use of the term), shared with clamps of all sizes and sundry other tools was, well.... interesting.
I just bought some of those anchors and a bunch of 2x4 to make a clamp rack, but this is better. Guess I need a sheet of plywood 🤣
John! Thanks for your super insightful videos. Thanks for all you do.
My pleasure!
Great solution Jonathan!
Great tip on blow out, thanks!
Wow, Thank you.
really cool project!
Great video, as usual. I’ve been using French cleats for years now and recommend them to any woodworker or crafter. Can’t wait to see what else you come up with for this system.
You do such a great job and I have learned so much from you. Thank you for your hard work.
Thanks Rich!
Cool nail trick!
Well, Jonathan, you solved my clamp problem. One thing you did not mention, yet jumped right out at me: This is a great small shop solution. Those of us not blessed with even medium size shops (single car garage here), you can hang a lot of clamps in a small space. Was just out in the shop this afternoon re-arranging and trying to decide on a clamp rack solution, and here it is. Why didn't I think of this? I've got a whole shelf system in my shop using french cleats ...
Great idea. I built one based on this design. Thanks,
Well done and thank you for the plans and the video! Subscribed and will shop at your store 👍
Hey, it's Francis "Clamps" Clampazzo from Futurama - love that show - nice laser engraving.
My small workshop (think single-car garage) is entirely clad with French Cleats, wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling. I have cupboards, racks, shelves, and even work benches mounting power tools hanging off them. If I am mounting something heavy, then I will configure the item to utilise 2 or 3 cleats for extra hanging strength. It makes my workspace entirely adjustable.
Thanks for the plans. I just built six of them from some scrap
1x8 pine
Great timing. Was just about to build wall-mounted clamp storage this week. My idea had looked much like your “old” system. Guess I’ll change my plan!
Futurama's clamps the robot best addition to a clamp rack ever.
I've been wanting to make it a reality for a long time hahaha
You are the man!
Thanks for the nail gun tip. Definitely worth a subscribe!! Keep up the great videos.
Holy crap, that nail gun tip is fantastic. Thanks for sharing that. I avoid using my nail gun cause it's just so heart breaking when I'm almost done a project and then a blow out happens.
Love the Futurama reference 👌
I did something similar a few months back with 3/4 plywood but I only had one cleat and the clamp rack had a spacer at the bottom to make it level to the wall. I even created some racks that can hold two sets of clamps by making the back longer and then add two triangle sets to it which worked wll for shorter clamps.
Francis Clampazzo, one of my favorite.
Dude - THANK YOU for the tip about Brad nail blowout!
Nice tip about the nail gun. I've had nails blowout and destroy projects, this will help.
This is great! Also, thanks for the tip on nail blow outs. It was really a duh moment for me. But you got me on track now.
Thanks for the nail tip, did not know that
Amazing! I think I'll make a seamless paper backdrop rack with this same system for my photo studio!
Thanks. 20 clamps up on the wall, taking up so little room. Easy to follow plan. If I could figure out how to add a picture I'd show you.
Loved the video! Did you use 1/2 or 3/4 thick plywood?
Looks like 1/2" (or 5/8"?)
great tip on nail blow out never new that thks
great site!
Nice job on the clamp racks, and you can never have enough clamps. Heading out to my shop to start building some.
Nice idea. I expect it will save me more space as I’ve got clamps filling up drawers and hanging from random shelves in my garage. You have certainly helped this Jewish woodworker step up his game.
The Futurama reference is amazing
Craps-Mucus! Bahahaha! I also love the lasered Futurama reference.
awesome video as usual Jon! A slight mini tip for those who may find it useful. The cleat that’s attached to the holder can be quite sharp to handle when u remove it entirely to work with. Shave of the sharp end just a little so it’s not razor sharp. And it helps fit it more snagly if for some reason your cleat wasn’t cut properly or u have uneven walls that make the wall mount row of French cleat uneven. (Spelling corrected😂)
FYI it's cleat but I hope you leave it for the sake of the hard-core GENTLEMEN/LADIES you just got while I'm sitting in my bathrobe drinking coffee. Cheers my friend
Nothing better than waking up to a new JKM video. Thanks for the time and effort you put into these!
Thanks for watching my friend!
I guess I have to redo mine now too. Lol.
