The shine of my French cleat system is wearing thin where my clamps are concerned for the same reason. Right now, my plywood scraps are about done for a a full project, but when I get enough again, this will make a great use of it. Thanks Jay!
I built a quickie scrap wood clamp storage like this a couple months back based off your comments about what you'd do when you built your new one. Storing the clamps this way is much much better! Now that I tested it and saw yours and matts, I'm going to get around to building a nicer one.
I'm impressed by your carpentry, presentation and video editing skills. Professional grade. I thought you had a twin brother there for a few moments before I realized you were very clever with editing.
This is the way I stored my tiny collection of clamps in my own shop. I had seen lots of different ideas but this one seemed the best, and a couple years later I have zero complaints about it.
Love this. I like your realness. I am looking to get into woodworking and I think I can make this. That said, I don’t own any clamps yet so don’t need it quite yet. Just to show how new I am- your video finally explained why there are so many 2x4 size boards nailed around my garage by previous owner. 😂
Totally can relate. I made a clamp rack and loved the space it freed up as well as how easy it was to access then. Now I've added a few more clamps and I've run out of space. Time to make another one that allows me to go deeper. Thanks for sharing.
Somebody is always making a bettor mouse trap! Glad I waited. I don’t a clamp rack. I’ve got clamps everywhere. going to make one of these soon. Thank you sir.
I'm in the process of reorganizing my shop. Your clamp rack is much better than the one I had in mind. My shop is a steel building and the "studs" are on 5 ft centers. Sheet goods on the wall is almost a necessity. Thanks for the inspiration. I'll be using some of your ideas for my new miter saw station too. Keep up the good work.
I just moved to a new shop and left behind my former linear system and built one similar to yours. I have to agree it is much better overall in terms of function and space.
Nice Job Sir! Based on your Wayne Brown shop tour comments, I decided to do the 'wall-out' version for my clamps as well. Glad you got around to doing it for your shop. It seems like every time I watch one of your videos, besides the major project, I find little nuggets of process hacking, like the blocks so you could hang the back sheet vertically... Thanks and keep it up!
Is it possible to like a video twice...three times? I have watched this video a lot and I learn or catch something every time. Well done sir...well done!
Nice improvement over the first effort! I really like this a lot and will probably build one like it this weekend because my clamps are a disaster. I really enjoyed and agree with your comments at the end about making your space more inviting/efficient, thus encouraging you to be in it. I have been concentrating on that and need to continue for awhile. I'm often frustrated about layout and lack of organization. Thank you, perfect timing for me.
Haven’t watched a JB video in a while and I realised how much I enjoy (& have missed) the editing and cleverness of the production. Now for some binge catch up viewing!! Thanks Jay.
Good idea having all the spring clamps come off at once. You could put your in that blank space. In any case. Good job. Not sure I'm going to make one though because I don't have as nice a selection of clamps as you.
Very impressive on how much wall space you gained while better consolidating your clamp types and sizes. This will definitely be one of my future projects.
Definitely agree a project like this makes my workarea more enjoyable to work in!! It looks great, organizes the clamps, he k I even like the spring jaw small clamp idea! I am presently on a mission to clear off my bench and organize my tools. I presently have a garage back and sidewall covered in pegboards and hooks. Kinda used pegboards just to clear tools of workbench, ladders and shovels. Now i want to use projects like yours to put tools closest to workbench that i use most often, easier to reach, and more organized , and still use the pegboards. Projects on your channel motivate me to keep going, and know it is ok, to redo projects like you do to i prove the design. Keep up the great videos, I am a big fan!
Just upgraded my clamp rack. Used ideas from you're rack and April Wilkensen. Much user friendly and sexy ( in a wood working sort of way). Thanks and keep the awesome vids coming.
Jay -- This is Dave Not Margaret - No, I don't have gender ID problems, the account is in my wife's name. First of all -- the V2 clamp rack is Fabulous and will appear in my "70-year-old-late-mid-life-crisis wood working shop"! Second -- Having been in audio and video production for 50-years, I truly appreciate the quality of your presentation. Over the years people have said, presentation is not as important as the information, but when poor quality presentations present good information, much can be lost. The clarity of your A-V work helps us Retired Rookies figure out what you Whippersnappers are doing. Again my thanks for NOT falling in with the -- Pay No Attention To The Man In The Cloud Of Sawdust -- crowd. -- DH
After seeing both you and Matt Lane make new clamp racks using the same design, I'm definitely seeing the advantages of this particular design over the previous one you had. I've got to build one for my shop now.
I updated my clamp storage using your plan. Great use of wall space. Great videos Jay. I have enjoyed watching your progression of skill level. Thank you for sharing Jay. Very inspirational.
Jay, I have watched most of your videos, and you are amazingly good at describing your work and the reason for why you do what you do. The shop projects are my favorite. I will be making a clamp rack similar to yours to increase wall space in my shop. I am also making a dust collection cart similar to yours. Keep up the good work and I will be buying some of your plans when I get around to other projects!
Howdy. Stumbled upon your channel, watched 2 minutes and subscribed. You have a gift for speaking and whoever is editing is doing an amazing job. I'm looking for shop space in our new town and all my machines, etc. are stored. (I'm going CRAZY not having a shop). Thanks for the inspiration. I'm a 3rd generation woodworker and built most everything, but you are very entertaining and teaching an old dog new tricks- well done. Thanks
your video production with the overlays has really become something to watch. I remember watching you build one of your first work benches. Quite and improvement, Very informative. Great video editing.
Same Experience Jay, i have been watching this video twice now and am of the same opinion. Great Design, Thanks for sharing. Reds from Germany, Robert.
I like it Jay. It's similar to the design I did a couple of weeks back except my brackets are mounted on the wall with the a French cleat instead of screwing the brackets to plywood
I'm just starting to get into woodworking and your videos are well thought out and your instruction is great. I look forward to your videos and using the knowledge you and others share to become a better woodworker. You have a great channel. Thanks!
You should use that spot in the center of the new rack as a possible pivoting camera mount for tablesaw shots and mitersaw shots. not sure how good the angle of view is but that's the first thing that popped in my head
Awesome video as usual! The most ironic part of this whole project is the fact you started out with. I too built your original idea and while in the assembly phase kept cursing myself because things were not 100% lining up. After some self reflecting (i.e. a cold drink or two) I just told myself "I'm no Jay Bates oh well" and left it as is.....:-) Best part is I now have a rare item because everyone that build the previous version will be throwing them out to build this beauty and I have way too many other shop projects to do instead!
This is the fist video I have watched of yours. Love the production style and the overlayed dual shots! Subscribed and looking forward to watching more.
Thank you for the answer. I have seen videos on here where people heat and bend them, or heat bend and twist them. I would think they would be pretty handy and cheaper then name brand versions.
Really like the design and I'm definitely going to use it in my shop. Quick question - I noticed you will wait for your miter saw blade to stop before lifting it back up. Is that a safety thing or something else? I know you do just about everything intentionally. Thanks Jay!
Yes, safety. Because the offcut piece is trapped between the stop block and the saw blade there is greater potential for the blade to grab the offcut on the way up. So it just makes more sense to let the blade stop spinning so it eliminates any risk of catching the trapped offcut.
The shine of my French cleat system is wearing thin where my clamps are concerned for the same reason. Right now, my plywood scraps are about done for a a full project, but when I get enough again, this will make a great use of it. Thanks Jay!

& 7years on I see your solution to my 50 spring clamps. Clamp them all to a removable/mobile rack. Cheers bud 👍🏼 👍🏼
Definitely more compact and organized, Nice job Jay!
I'm impressed by your carpentry, presentation and video editing skills. Professional grade. I thought you had a twin brother there for a few moments before I realized you were very clever with editing.

Great video. Sometimes the simplest way is the best. This stacking clamp design is the best way.
I'm so glad I waited a bit to build a clamp rack. I will definitely build or hang "out" instead of across. Wall space is at a premium in my shop.
The project was very good, but I think your video production is outstanding. The best on the market.
Thanks!
Your spring clamps are covering the Star Wars calendar, change them to the other side ;D
And the eye of my fish was ( ) this big.....
Nice video
Well done Jay. Making the shop more inviting is a great point. That will get me in the shop to make it more inviting. Thanks
Good system! It projects part of the volume away from the wall! Thanks!
Is it possible to like a video twice...three times? I have watched this video a lot and I learn or catch something every time. Well done sir...well done!
I am really surprised at how much less room the new solution takes up. Good job!

Love watching your videos. thanks for the tips. I could watch a video of yours 100 times and every time I would learn something new.

Good clamp rack, gave me an idea but will incorporate it unto a french cleat design. your video editing is really good. Great job.
Nice job Jay.
I prefer this style of clamp rack too. My shop is a 12x20 single car garage so every inch of space counts.
yep -- it's all about getting out there and enjoying the shop. Thanks
Super simple and versatile, I'm a fan!
And I'm a fan of you both!!
Pretty handy Jay.It looks a lot cleaner too.
Very good execution. My Dad really needs this.
Just upgraded my clamp rack. Used ideas from you're rack and April Wilkensen. Much user friendly and sexy ( in a wood working sort of way). Thanks and keep the awesome vids coming.
Nice job Jay! you've certainly saved a ton of space with this upgrade.
Thanks Jay - clamp storage if one of my biggest frustrations. I think you helped me solve it.
Jay -- This is Dave Not Margaret - No, I don't have gender ID problems, the account is in my wife's name.

I updated my clamp storage using your plan. Great use of wall space. Great videos Jay. I have enjoyed watching your progression of skill level. Thank you for sharing Jay. Very inspirational.
Jay has a great practical way to do things in the shop.
Jay, I have watched most of your videos, and you are amazingly good at describing your work and the reason for why you do what you do. The shop projects are my favorite. I will be making a clamp rack similar to yours to increase wall space in my shop. I am also making a dust collection cart similar to yours. I love the idea for the spring clamps.
"I am a fan of symmetrical items, items that have symmetry about them." That is a great statement. Nice build!
Awesome video Jay! You’re getting better and better and communicating these things.
This is a very good design for wood clamps. Thank you!
I pretty much live for shop projects. I enjoy those projects more than actual projects
your video production with the overlays has really become something to watch. I remember watching you build one of your first work benches. Quite and improvement, Very informative. Great video editing.
Excellent project Jay. Will probably do something similar in my shop
@11:05 This is a very true statement and should be a rule of thumb when you design your shop. Great, now all I need to do is REALLY apply it. :D
Like this set-up much better. Nice job.
This is great, thanks! I'm moving my shop soon and will do it this way in the new place
Nice dude! Inspiring words: "if your workspace is inviting and enjoyable, then you will want to actually spend time in it making things".
Great idea Jay plus it looks less cluttered.
God Bless my friend.
Great nonsense video, I am spending the weekend making a clamp station similar to yours. Thanks for the vidio
Very well done sir, and well edited as well.
Same Experience Jay, i have been watching this video twice now and am of the same opinion. Great Design, Thanks for sharing. Reds from Germany, Robert.
Dang it. I love my clamp rack...but this looks wayyyyyyyyyyyy better. Nice work Jay as always.
Very practical arrangement. I need to do something similar, but am short of available wall space.
I like it Jay. It's similar to the design I did a couple of weeks back except my brackets are mounted on the wall with the a French cleat instead of screwing the brackets to plywood
Awesome workshop and tools brother, very inspiring!
Great Idea Jay, thanks for showing it.
Great design Jay, I really need a clamp rack soon
Great video, excellent use of space. Cheers 👍
Nice. I've gotta do something like that. My clamp rack needs an up grade. Good job.
Great ideas for my small shed but still very envious of your space ;)
I'm just starting to get into woodworking and your videos are well thought out and your instruction is great. I look forward to your videos and using the knowledge you and others share to become a better woodworker. You have a great channel. Thanks!
Great idea. I need this, instead of the pile of clamps I'm using now. I'm curious why you didn't continue using the french cleat.
You should use that spot in the center of the new rack as a possible pivoting camera mount for tablesaw shots and mitersaw shots. not sure how good the angle of view is but that's the first thing that popped in my head
Best clamp rack design I've seen. The benefits of iteration... Second try is always better.
You have a very nice shop Jay. Beats my 12 by 16 shed. Great build thanks.
and yours beats my 8x10 shed. lol
I like the clamp rack , Nice job
Mince concept and execution, Jay.
Good system. Looks like they are hanging in a store.
cheers
Your video editing skills have progressed as well. Nice.
I built a clamp rack based upon your design of the first one. Much smaller though. It has served me well.
think I will make one in my newly relocate workshop from Livingston TX to Santa Fe TX. thanks. perfect timing for me.
Dan Mottesheard
Very nice touch ,love the blue fish. Ha Ha
Great design! I am about to tackle the same thing in my shop and I am going to incorporate some of this design. Thank you!
Thanks for speed recording, plus like the instructions and grey template that you’ve used - by the way, your twin is slightly better looking!
Excellent vid, great looking workshop !
Thanks, Jay! I'm going to incorporate this design into a lumber cart I'm working on. Appreciate the work!
This is the fist video I have watched of yours. Love the production style and the overlayed dual shots! Subscribed and looking forward to watching more.
Very nicely done.
Oooooo I'll be in Ann Arbor that weekend may stop by
That is a real beaut Clark. Nice improvement. Cheers! Chris.
Thank you for the answer. I have seen videos on here where people heat and bend them, or heat bend and twist them. I would think they would be pretty handy and cheaper then name brand versions.
What a nice simple solution great idea
very nice and really efficient your project I need something like that I'm going to do it
Lovely work! Thank you for sharing such a great design.
felicitaciones por este nuevo proyesto de soporte de abrazaderas gracias por compartirlo jorge de argentina
Fantastic videos Jay, you've taken it to another level mate !
Your videos are always awesome - content and video skills. Thanks.
I like that clamp rack. It looks great, Jay!
Great stuff and even cooler editing
very good idea and very good video!
I think I'm a bigger fan of your editing skills, than your woodworking skills. That is not a knock on your woodworking skills.
Wow jay awesome video.
Been looking forward to this video.. hes been talking about it for ages! Great job mate
