I like that you make one "receiver" that will accommodate all your clamps. Which makes this THE most versatile clamp rack. One if your best editing vids yet.
I can never understand why people want their shop to look like a furniture showroom, recycling timber is great, and the end product functional, which is the important part. I like the tip of using the chop saw do do most of the cuts, never thought of that, a great time saver, Thanks Jay
Interesting approach, making the hangers universal. Having them all out front is a lot more convenient than putting smaller ones behind bigger ones, or vice versa.
Been meaning to make a rack for my clamps for almost two months now...used to keep them attached to my ladder, which I gave to my son, so now they are just stacked up...hopefully, this will provide the motivation to get something done this week. Thanks for your ideas.
I'm from MN and totally hate your videos from start to finish. However, as a woodworker from MN with exactly the same space and tools, I can't stop watching your videos and enjoy your innovation! keep up the great ideas.
I wish I could figure out how to be so productive! As if working with a clone wasn't enough, you even got those clamps to put themselves away while you stood there and talked!
That is pretty cool, Jay. I wish i have a shop as big as yours. What I like about all your proyects is that the most of them are easy and simple. I love your channel.
Jay, I'm in the group that recommends doing a video on installing A/C in your garage. I live in NC and it's hovering around 100 right now. Get foam insulation panels for your garage door and mount a small room air conditioner in the wall. Disclaimer though, window A/C units are designed to fit in the thickness of a window, so if you have a 2x4 wall, the vents on the side of a unit will only partially go outside (and partly stick inside the wall... look at one, you'll see what I mean). I recommend cutting a hole about 1ft wider and taller than your unit, then framing for your unit out of 2x2s to reduce the wall thickness. Cover inside and outside with 3/8 plywood or Hardie Soffit board, make it look pretty on the outside. It'll only help the home's resale one day. I'm a landlord, I've installed lots of these in small units that don't have A/C.
Very nice shop! I enjoyed the creative annotation and slow/fast motion work it made watching the entire piece pleasurable. When I began purchasing clamps my biggest regret is that I started out purchasing 1/2" pipe clamps rather than 3/4". For the difference in stiffness you gain vs the money difference it's just no contest. Also my first clamps were the models that are just friction fit rather than the good thread on models, big mistake on my part.
Nice rack! :) I can't get over how nice the top of the bench looks. That veneer pattern on the plywood really pops man!. I had the same problem with my drill press popping off the quill when under extreme stress. I took it off and cleaned the spindle with emery cloth and then placed the quill back on the spindle and press the assembly down against a 2x6 block. It hasn't come off since. Not sure if it was ever on properly from the factory. I keep noticing that your garage has a very high ceiling. I would love to have that much height Jay! You shop is really coming together nicely. Thanks for sharing.
Great video. Thanks. I totally envy you all your work space. I have a very small shop so I am living vicariously through you and others here on RUclips. Keep the videos coming. I really do enjoy them.
Great editing Jay. Love the video and the way you shortcutted the cuts with the miter saw. I cut my entire clamp rack out with a jig saw, and you just showed me how much time I could have saved. Doh! Go Lions!
I think you have the right idea using available materials and coming up with a design that allows flexibility. IME, clamp storage is something that is hard to know how you're really going to use until you have something in place. I personally like a rolling cart so that I can move it to my assembly space when needed and roll it out of the way when not. But big heavy pipe clamps are too clunky/heavy to leave on a rolling cart, so they get stored on a non-rolling space. Also, those HF clamps seem to multiply over time, especially in the shorter-to-medium lengths.
Your video skills have come on in leaps and bounds since I first started watching you a couple of years ago - well done. It's really entertaining as well as instructional!
If it works for you and gets rid of scraps that are just taking up space, then who cares what it looks like -- using your clamps is just going to beat it up anyway! Great editing for this one and great idea on the universal slots!
Looks very good. Great job. On your drill press clean the parts as good as you can and make sure they are dry and dust free. Then insert the chuck so that it stays in the drill press and give it a couple of good hits with a mallet. Do not use anything to make the chuck slide in better it's just going to make it fall out. The cleaner and dryer the better it will work.
Loving all the videography tricks, especially the cloning. I need a clone in my shop... Love the clamp rack system, I think mine needs a makeover now. Well done!!!
Love the way the shop is coming along. Looking really nice and my green eyed monster of jealousy is rearing it's ugly head! I'm in the process of renovating my shop and this rack will be incorporated into that new design, Thanks Jay!
Awesome project. Thanks a lot. Simple and very effective. Like the mitre station too. Very nice. Thanks for all the effort in your vids. Always fun to watch.
I'm going to steal, er, borrow your bracket design but put the rack on a roll-around cart so I can pull my clamps nearer to where I'll be needing them. I like this project a lot, so thanks for the inspiration (and perspiration.) I used to live in West Windsor, NJ and know how hot and humid it can get in the tri-state area during summer. Now I'm in Houston and sweating all the time. I'm going to install a mini-split A/C system in my shop.
Great idea to make it universal Jay, never thought of that. Was gonna make a rack for each style of clamp I have....I like racks. FYI, apparently your wife wants a dining table, just sayin
Jay, love the fact that you can store any kind of clamp in any of the slots. Your sacrificing on ton of space though by not doubling or tripling up those slots for the smaller clamps, you have plenty of depth in the system you have allotted to do just that. This is a picture of the style I use, find it takes up way less wall which I have very little of. lol www.woodcraft.com/Images/products/600/153592.jpg
I've only been following your channel for a few months.. I like your educational ideas and methods. And, I love your video editing! It was neat seeing your "twin" ;-) helping you with the assembly!
Thats a cool idea for clamp rack. and u can always use the stragler for more clamps if u ever get more. I like how u blackened all ur tools up. I know u did the drill/driver last week but the nailer, jig ,and miter look pretty bad ass! As always great project, and the shops looking great with the new bench and rack. Me and adrina say Thanks for the stickers!just got em'yesterday she put it up wth her proncess and monster high stickers..lol i put all mine on bandsaw.
Man ALIVE you've got some patience, Jay! Drilling and chasing out all of that would have made me go stir-crazy! Great build though - and that new bench is stunning!
Jay, as usual a great idea. I, however, would mount the rack lower for easier use. We both appear to be vertically challenged at about 5'6". Will be taking many of your great videos and ideas into my own shop once it is expanded.
Love your videos. I see that you still have the drill press on the night stand. :) And you have upgraded on your table saw....VERY NICE! I use my garage for my workshop. But my car must go back inside at night. I am working on building everything I can on wheels to be portable during the day when using all my tools, to being able to roll them back to the walls afterwords. You have lots of great ideas I am planning on using to accomplish just that. Thank you Thank you!
I miss my 3 car garage so much. Had to downsize in order to be able to afford to retire. Now, we are looking maybe to relocate somewhere that we can afford a real house/garage/shop.
love your videos. great work like how you narrate on the video while your working on it also makes it unique love that massive work bench u made also meaty
Excellent design. I've been putting off a clamp rack for some time because of the different kinds of clamps I have. I think your 3/4" pipe clamps are bigger than mine though because mine fit in a 7/8" slot. Great video as always.
I like that you make one "receiver" that will accommodate all your clamps. Which makes this THE most versatile clamp rack.
One if your best editing vids yet.

John Heisz Thanks dude.
+John Heisz You've commented on all of his videos that I've watched. Love your channel too.

I followed your plan and built it. Needed a universal clamp rack for the longest time but couldn't determine the correct layout. Thanks Jay!
Jay Bates Happy Father's Day. Thank you for the video.
Hey Jay, you are giving me lots of ideas for the shop I am building. Nice job on the clamp rack.
Really like the videography on this one, Jay. You've developed a style now that makes you unique. Stick with it and run.
beauxtx1959 Thank you.
beauxtx1959 totally agree, jay and frank are unique on the way they edit their videos. love your style jay.
I second that. One of the better videographers here.
Thanks, Jay - another well thought out, simple and universal solution to a complicated problem. And great production quality.
I wish I could figure out how to be so productive! As if working with a clone wasn't enough, you even got those clamps to put themselves away while you stood there and talked!
Jer's Woodshop hahahaha. Work smarter, not harder ;)
That is pretty cool, Jay. I wish i have a shop as big as yours. What I like about all your proyects is that the most of them are easy and simple. I love your channel.
TheLaoruga Thanks. The shop is a 2 car garage.
Cool design dude! The great thing about shop projects is that it allows you a chance to use up some scrap pieces.

I've learned a lot from your channel but I am most impressed with your editing. Nice job and thanks.
Great use of space and left over pieces!
I really like the versatility of it. Great design.
Great project... I'm jealous of the amount of wall space you have. Cool video too...
Great looking clamp rack. On top of the build, the video was top notch. You are really doing a great job Jay.
I just built a new shop, been wondering what to do with my clamps. Now I know what I am going to build. Thank you.
Universal.. Good thinking !! found my next shop project Thanks Jay
Nice rack! :)
I can't get over how nice the top of the bench looks.

Thanks for sharing.
From here it looks great, nicely done Jay. Many thanks!
Jay Bates I like it. Versatile and great thinking in designing it Jay
The editing at the end was spectacular
Very nice. One of those 'tidying up' jobs we all say we're going to do.
Great video. Thanks. I totally envy you all your work space. I have a very small shop so I am living vicariously through you and others here on RUclips. Keep the videos coming. I really do enjoy them.
Love the "Wife wants a Dining Table" caption @ 6:53. Keep up the good work Jay!
Take care,
Detroit Brian
Looks great. Function is beauty - especially in a shop.
Loving the twin Jay effect again 😜 I always look to try and see where the split is. Not found it yet!
azayles Hopefully you wont ;)
Great editing Jay. Love the video and the way you shortcutted the cuts with the miter saw. I cut my entire clamp rack out with a jig saw, and you just showed me how much time I could have saved. Doh!
Go Lions!
Nice use of scrap wood. I ran across your site last week and I like your style and also your camera work. Thanks for a super idea!!
Great solution for clamps of all different sizes Jay.
Great project and really like the way you put the video together, fun to watch.

Great design Jay. Damn, I have to build me one of these.
Thanks for showing off the idea.
Your video skills have come on in leaps and bounds since I first started watching you a couple of years ago - well done. It's really entertaining as well as instructional!
BigWingUK Thanks for tagging along for the past couple years dude :)
I really like the design that you came up with, I think I will use it for my rack. Thanks for posting.
Yes yes yes yes yes! Awesome effects! I like your style, Jay!
If it works for you and gets rid of scraps that are just taking up space, then who cares what it looks like -- using your clamps is just going to beat it up anyway!
Great editing for this one and great idea on the universal slots!
Never thought of making slots universal, great idea!

That's a super job.
Best Wishes, Brendan.
Jay that last scene edit rivals Frank Howarth! Love the edits and humor and as usual a super functional vid! This ones going into my to-do list!
I had the same thought!
Love the way the shop is coming along. Looking really nice and my green eyed monster of jealousy is rearing it's ugly head! I'm in the process of renovating my shop and this rack will be incorporated into that new design, Thanks Jay!
Your projects are fun but your editing is tops!!!!!!!
Just wanted to say that you did supercool editing on this one Mr. Jay! Just wonderful
Great video. I like the design idea and the video editing. Always a pleasure Jay.
Simple yet effective... Love the editing!
Great use of the split screen edit tool. Very entertaining.
briansmobile1 You're like the Mystery Guitar Man of woodworking over here!
Wow! Even with eliminating that other row, this thing is huge! I think it looks pretty cool...from afar at least.
I learn so much from your method of work and design considerations....Thanks for Sharing,,,,,
Awesome project. Thanks a lot. Simple and very effective. Like the mitre station too. Very nice. Thanks for all the effort in your vids. Always fun to watch.

Beautiful work! Loved your spray can rack too, in the background!
Great idea to make it universal Jay, never thought of that. Was gonna make a rack for each style of clamp I have....I like racks. FYI, apparently your wife wants a dining table, just sayin
+Tyler G and a mission style chair :)
Ha! There WERE holes! I knew it! Hehe. Ugly cuts or not that thing is highly functional and diverse. Great design man. Seriously. Looks good to me.
Rick Wilke :)
Really cool video. Really cool concept to house all the clamp styles
Great production with the cool video effects. Love all of this
Your workbench looks much better without the gap. Nice.
I like to see other people using any scrap material they have to make shop furniture :)
Jay, love the fact that you can store any kind of clamp in any of the slots. Great build though - and that new bench is stunning!
Awesome job Jay
Great solution Jay!
Looks pretty good, it would seem to be just the ticket for my shop thanks Jay !!
If I could double myself, I wonder how well we... er, I would work together.
Great video. I really enjoyed both the edit and the design.
pocket83 Thanks dude. I really enjoy your videos.
Work and video, both excellent. Bravo !
Your project videos are great and your video editing is great to watch! Awesome Job!!
Great system Jay. I liked all your "mass production" techniques.
Great design!
Nice and practical idea...
Well done...
Great tip Mr Bates 👍
I love the design, bravo!
looks great Jay, Nice way to use up that beat up wood
the universal idea is incredible i like it
im amazed by your Video editing skills, never seen someone doing your kinds of videos putting so much effort into a video. nice!
Jay, as usual a great idea. I, however, would mount the rack lower for easier use. We both appear to be vertically challenged at about 5'6". Will be taking many of your great videos and ideas into my own shop once it is expanded.
A wise man once said " You can never have too many clamps" Great idea, I will be putting this to use in my small shop. Thanks
Great video. I referred to it today when making a new clamp rack. Like you, I use what I have in the shop to make most racks, jigs, etc., if possible.
Love your videos. I see that you still have the drill press on the night stand. :) And you have upgraded on your table saw....VERY NICE! I use my garage for my workshop. Hey jay use what you have that's what I do I think you did a great job it very functional.
Super cool design.
Sweeeet editing on this. Nice project.
great idea jay
Looks great... I think i'm gonna copy your chop saw station 👍👍
Nice video Jay, always great to get organized, looked like you came up with a great design. Sweet editing as aways... CHOP!
Props for the editing.
I like it a lot! So nice that it is a universal fit. Who in the world has all the same kind of clamp anyway?
Jim Dockrell
in one vid I saw, the guy claimed to only have one type, and I thought, "what'd you do, throw the other types away??"
I need one of those! Great job!
Nice job Jay ,,defiantly big enough !
Well thought out design for the universal slot so all your clamps will fit. Currently, I just have a 2x2 bar that they all hang on.
Great job Jay, I literally just finished filming my new clamp rack build haha.... It doesn't look this nice... Shop Looks great!
love your videos. great work
like how you narrate on the video while your working on it also
makes it unique
love that massive work bench u made also
meaty
Excellent design. I've been putting off a clamp rack for some time because of the different kinds of clamps I have. I think your 3/4" pipe clamps are bigger than mine though because mine fit in a 7/8" slot. Great video as always.
Pete Nilsen 1/2" pipe has an outside diameter of 7/8"
Jay Bates Duh...Oops!
Very nice, and great editing. Keep it up!
