  • In this video I replace the cv axle in my 2018 gmc z71. Shot it with my iPhone so sorry about the quality. Also my first video just thought it may help someone trying to save a little money and diy.

I appreciate the video, I think I’m about to have to do this on my 2016 GMC Sierra.

Did you get an Abs light with the replacement cv axle? It seems you dont have an abs tone ring on the replacement. Im looking to get the same style replacement but want to make sure it wont throw an abs code.

You don’t need to remove the A arm or the wire to swap the cv.

My axle came with no plate holding the grease in (on the transmission side). I mean it does but against that plate so there is no where for the grease to go, but that seems not right. Anyone think that’s a concern? I guess I’ll keep an eye on it for geese escaping although I don’t see how it would as it’s a bolted sealed surface.

Hopefully you got it figured out, I’m not sure I’m following exactly what you’re explaining. The cv axles should be sealed on both ends. Are you 100% sure you have the correct part # ?

@@milkmansgarage7095 yeah the transmission side that bolts up was missing the plate sealing it off. However it bolts to a flat surface so I don’t see how it would lose grease. I installed it, fixed the clicking and now keeping an eye out for any grease escaping. Weird for sure. I think they messed up on this part. At least if it fails It is warrantied and wasn’t too hard to fix. Sucks though.
