I add a roller bridge and locking tunners to mine and IT IS THE REAL THING my friends it keeps in tune just fine and the smoothness of it Houlala! These are a great cheaper option to a Bigsby on Asian 335's and the like. Well recommend! Just be aware that they are pretty stiff to begin with and take some breaking in to become 'soft' feeling. A little machine oil helps speed things up a bit. ;)
Love your playing so much Pete. If you ever get time could you break down the jam with MICK you did on the Jazz chorus amps please. That was one of my favourites. Take care 😎👍
Such a great guitar player!!! I have the same trem system on my Epiphone Les Paul Studio. It works great. The only problem I have is that I need to lubricate the string saddles with graphite every now and then ( I have locking tuners and a graphtech nut on this guitar as well).
Nicely done! I'm not really into replacing parts on a guitar unless there's something wrong with the original part. I've done pickups once, other 2 that I didn't like the pickups in were returned the week of purchase. I like the look & sound of Duesenberg guitars, not the price tag though. Paying for the quality in the end.
Always a good idea to use a bit of cloth and then place your screwdriver against the cloth to screw things in or out. That way you avoid scratching/scarring your guitar fixtures. I wonder if this will fit my ES-295 instead of the Bigsby that is currently fitted? Love your playing btw Pete :)
Nice one Pete! That Les Trem thing looks really elegant and dead simple to install and without all the metal associated with Bigsby style kits. Definitely will investigate this for my LP - I am primarily an Ibanez/Strat guy and have largely neglected my LP as I do really like [subtle] vibrato tones and effects. Maybe some careful steel wool application to the unit to take down the shine as well as give it a "relic'd" kind of thing more in keeping with the rest of the hardware? Gorgeous axe btw! Cheers and thanks for the vid!
I definitely should :-) I used too... But these days I have to do it myself :-(. I like playing guitar more... But the best thing is that it worked then and it still does, so I am happy :-).
Great bit of kit. Just fitted mine (purchased elsewhere for £10 more, sadly, as Andertons were out of stock with no date for supply). So very easy, and I used the correct screwdriver. I fitted it to a Vintage VS6, in case anyone wondered if it would fit one of those.
Thanks Pete this video helped me confirm nickel finish and the purchase for my 335! Great mod for any stoptail! Love it! Great playing and good instruction, but please don't handle any other power tools except the power string winder! PS the holes on the les term 2 are quite tight to a USA stoptail, but enlarging the holes is unnecessary, as some have claimed, just a good douse of patience.
Why do people even need to use a screwdriver and risk chewing the screws! Same goes for some locking tuners when people use a screw-driver to slacken the strings! It's crazy when you can use a heavy gauge pick, does the same job and you won't ruin your metal Also always replace the bridge with a roller type when using any of these types of tremolos. One reason is, you don't want the string "sawing" across the regular type saddles and two, make sure the new roller bridge has the little clamping mechanism too! (Otherwise the bridge will be moving back & forth when you move the tremolo and that's not ideal!) And if you really want to go the extra mile, fit a graphite nut and locking tuners too! But the roller bridge is a must and get one with the pole-grip mechanism (easily identified as these types have two small grub-screws that can be tightened against the posts at each end to stop it rocking back & forth) 👍

Great tremolo...I have installed it on 14 of my guitars... Every time I added a roller bridge which improved tuning stability a lot...That said, the Les Trem-2 was already stable as is... And because I use the tremolo A LOT I also added tusq nuts and locking tuners...But that's just me 😁😁

Great video, thanks. I installed the original Les Trems on several guitars when they were readily available here in the US; even put one is on my '99 Gibson Les Paul Double Cut along with a roller bridge and it works great. I was curious as to the design changes from the original Les Trem to the Les Trem 2 which is what brought me here. It still looks like a good non evasive design and wish someone would stock them here. Thanks again for the video and btw, I really enjoyed your playing as well.

Hi Pete, a really useful video and lovely playing as usual. I'm thinking of putting one of these on my 335 so this is very helpful. I was wondering - a year on, do you still have this on your 335 or has it been retired? Also, does the guitar still fit in the case OK with this on? Many thanks and keep up the good work - always enjoy watching and listening to your playing.
Yes. They come with both metric and standard studs for wither import or American made guitars. Should work on any guitar with a tune-o-matic and stop tailpiece.
Damn nest man and SO TOTALLY more aesthetically pleasing than a Bigsby Telford Bridge disasteroid! But as someone else pointed out, think you need yer felt washers against the body. ;-)
well this has convinced me to buy a Les Trem, BUT...doesn't leaving the standard TOM bridge in place cause issues with strings breaking? Was wondering how important it is to replace the TOM with a roller bridge.
Hey Pete👍😎 Know it's been awhile since you posted this vid, but if you happen across this question...how is the angle from Les Trem2 to bridge? Personally use a top wind with slight angle to bridge for easy bending. Just ordered thr Les Trem2 for my ES335 and it comes with washers to raise system. Perhaps enough to get desired angle? Thanks bro. Enjoy your tones👍😎❤🖖 Love brother
Answering my own question...just recieved and installed the Les Trem2 system and break angle is perfect.👍😎 Would prefer shorter trem arm (ala D. Gilmour😉), but this is an elegant system in concept, functionality and looks.👍😎❤ Now if they had sent the nickel plated as ordered instead of chrome😐
Thanks for the video! I added one of these to a Ltd Edtion Pelham Blue Gibson SG Standard, and now want to add one to my 2018 figured Gibson ES-335...and I'm a bit concerned about the case. With the SG..it's a flat-top solid body so I wasn't concerned about the case lid pushing the spring down into the body. What are your thoughts about putting your 335 in its case now that it's been on there for a year? Again, thanks for the videos!
Hi Pete. Have you had any issues with tuning? I wondered whether the strings would snag on the bridge saddles? I’m toying with getting one and considering putting roller saddles in the bridge. Cheers!
Hey Pete, how does this trem handle double stop bends? Is like a strat where the unbended strings goes out of tune slightly or is it more stable? Also, do you still have it on the 335 now or did you take it off? Love your playing. So much feel. One day I hope to be able to play with that kind of feel. You are superb.
Partly based on this video I bought a Duesenberg Les Trem II to fit on to a 2006 Gibson USA 335. It does not fit, the post holes in the Gibson are about 1mm too far apart. The instructions say - Important - The distance between the holes is a (they say standard) 81.5mm. Specs. on most stop bars show 82 to 82.5mm. And what happens if/when you try to put the guitar in a hard case with the Les Trem II installed? The trem arm is designed to be locked in place by grub screws, so it does not quickly detach. In any case the spring assembly protrudes quite far above the guitars top.
Hey pete, can you tell me why you chose the les trem II? I'm interested in putting one of Duesenbergs trems on my prs custom 22 but I don't know which one I should choose, if you could help me out in this decision that would be great. Thanks, love the playing.
3 questions. First: When you play two strings at the same time and bend one of them the other one stays in tune? Second: If a string break do the others stay in tune? Is it possible to higher the notes with the wammy bar or it's just lower the note? Thanks in advance!
Pete, do you notice any differences in the way the 335 plays? Eg string bending, tension? And any effect on tone or sustain compared to the fixed bridge?
CNCTEMATIC It feels easier to play. I little easier to bend. It doesn't seem to have done anything to the tone or sustain, if anything, there is more sustain!
Well that's cool, and interesting. There's another Scandinavian guitarist on RUclips (Johan Segeborn) who did a back to back comparing a floating bridge Strat with a fixed bridge Strat (string through body, like a Tele). Played them through a Marshall stack. There was a big tone difference. Both sounded like a Strat, but the fixed bridge had a beefier tone, with more bottom end and lower mids. So its good u didn't lose any tone. But ... have to say ... to me, putting that big chrome contraption on your beautiful 335 ... its a little like giving Scarlett Johansen braces, :-)
It's not supposed to do much difference to the tone, because the main point of tension is still the TOM bridge, maybe just a little. Like, I'm sure every tailpiece would sound slightly different.
love the idea of this trem. with this trem where the spring is located seems closer to the bridge. if u going to palm mute your b or e would it awkward?
One question, ......do you think the tone of your 335 was changed in anyway with the Duesenberg ? .......a friend of mine tried one in his 339 Gibson, and it works great, but ......my view is that it changed the tone of the guitar somewhat, a noticeable change, a bit brighter maybe, but also something more subtle in the overal tone......in short, though the new tone of the 339 was still a good sound, it was not the same sound as the stock guitar ........Your view appreciated ! thanks

I was wondering - a year on, do you still have this on your 335 or has it been retired? Also, does the guitar still fit in the case OK with this on? Many thanks and keep up the good work - always enjoy watching and listening to your playing.
Thanks for this review. I ordered two and will not order a roller bridge and will use graphite or lube and see if that is ok.
Does it works in every 335? Thanks Pete, lovely playing
Yes. They come with both metric and standard studs for wither import or American made guitars. Should work on any guitar with a tune-o-matic and stop tailpiece.
Pete
Just watched a few of your Tom Jones videos - awesome
was that when you were going through your Marty Mcfly stage?
Damn nest man and SO TOTALLY more aesthetically pleasing than a Bigsby Telford Bridge disasteroid! But as someone else pointed out, think you need yer felt washers against the body. ;-)
It's a nice thing. And yes, should probably have put some felt things on there, but I didn't have any and it seems ok so ;-).
well this has convinced me to buy a Les Trem, BUT...doesn't leaving the standard TOM bridge in place cause issues with strings breaking? Was wondering how important it is to replace the TOM with a roller bridge.
Hey Pete👍😎 Know it's been awhile since you posted this vid, but if you happen across this question...how is the angle from Les Trem2 to bridge? Personally use a top wind with slight angle to bridge for easy bending. Just ordered thr Les Trem2 for my ES335 and it comes with washers to raise system. Perhaps enough to get desired angle?
Thanks bro. Enjoy your tones👍😎❤🖖
Love brother
Answering my own question...just recieved and installed the Les Trem2 system and break angle is perfect.👍😎
Would prefer shorter trem arm (ala D. Gilmour😉), but this is an elegant system in concept, functionality and looks.👍😎❤
Now if they had sent the nickel plated as ordered instead of chrome😐
It looks and sounds great, but will the guitar now fit in the case?
Nifty! Now I'm not afraid of basic mods like that.
Love it. Nice work.
Hey Peter! Nice done, man. Fantastic riffs. Quick question. Will this tremolo system fit on my Chinese made Firefly without modification? Thanks, man.
Hey pete, can you tell me why you chose the les trem II? I'm interested in putting one of Duesenbergs trems on my prs custom 22 but I don't know which one I should choose, if you could help me out in this decision that would be great. Thanks, love the playing.
Job well done man, that looks so easy to install and works so well :) does work on any USA Gibson that has a tailpeace?
3 questions. First: When you play two strings at the same time and bend one of them the other one stays in tune? Second: If a string break do the others stay in tune? Is it possible to higher the notes with the wammy bar or it's just lower the note? Thanks in advance!
Yes, yes and yes... p
Peter Honoré interesting. To me the slinkier the better.
Mine got slinkier after I installed it. I'm not sure I like that.
It's not supposed to do much difference to the tone, because the main point of tension is still the TOM bridge, maybe just a little. Like, I'm sure every tailpiece would sound slightly different.
Doesn't look like it will work if you have the long pickguard. Also doesn't it leave a dent in the wood?
May have to order a couple of these!
love the idea of this trem. with this trem where the spring is located seems closer to the bridge. if u going to palm mute your b or e would it awkward?
Awesome playing! I noticed you didn't install a roller bridge with it. Does it stay in tune pretty well without one?
🔥🔥🔥
One question, ......do you think the tone of your 335 was changed in anyway with the Duesenberg ? .......a friend of mine tried one in his 339 Gibson, and it works great, but ......my view is that it changed the tone of the guitar somewhat, a noticeable change, a bit brighter maybe, but also something more subtle in the overal tone......in short, though the new tone of the 339 was still a good sound, it was not the same sound as the stock guitar ........Your view appreciated ! thanks
