I believe the washers go under the les trem to give it a gap if it doesn’t have it not on top of the les trem at least thats my understanding
Okay, thank you!
You are right, they have to be under the tremolo.
@@Psychodelic1983 🙏🤙
If you're to use the Trem system on something like a SG or LP Studio you don't need to use the washers because the body of the guitar is flat. If you have regular LP or something like a 335, basically anything archtop, then you need to use the washers in order to lift the trem up from the body of the guitar. Otherwise it won't be flush.
@@everennui1 Or if the tailpiece bushings are recessed into the wood without the flange that sits on top of the body
Had no choice but to subscribe after this video, your playing is insane!
Hahaha! Thank you so much! Kind regards, Matt
Short answer: absolutely yes. The Les Trem beats any Bigsby by miles any day of the week: it's sleeker and smoother, it's more expressive and keeps tune better, it's less heavy and less expensive - and more beautiful, too. If your Gibson style headstock gives you trouble with tuning stability, install a String Butler, and if your tune-o-matic keeps pinging, replace it with a roller bridge. None of which is the trem's fault, but just to compensate for Gibson's obsolete designs that they refuse to update for modern playing in which guitarists _bend_ their notes from time to time. Just saying.
Thank you so much!
I did the same procedure on my Michael Schenker Fling V ..... exept to this locking tuners. But with the original bridge the les trem worked fine ....
Great!!!
So CLEVER! I think these will sell incredibly well. Looks every bit as good as the Bigsby on my D'Angelico.
Thank you!
Yes!
@@mattguitarwater works to dangelico Deluxe ss?
@@denisrojriv4906 Hmmm...I think so.
I didn't know about these until recently! I will be looking into installing one on my Squier Starcaster & Epi Les Paul custom...
Fantastic! Thanks for watching!
Was thinking of picking one of these up for my es-339... It's exactly what I need! Thanks for the video Matt, very informative
Great choice! You're welcome!
This device would make my Epiphone Les Paul wonderful!
Great!
so it can dive quite deep actually.. soon gonna test it on a les paul style guitar
Great!
That spring looks like it’s stands high from the guitar. Does the guitar still fit in a case, with no problems because of the height of the vibrato from the guitar?
Hmmm, you're right! With a little pressure, the case still locks! But it's not perfect.... Kind regards, Matt
It’s the bar that hits the case lid , best to remove th bar from my experience
What is the name of the new bridge with rollers and where did you buy it?
Look here:
m.thomann.de/de/goeldo_tunomatic_roller_bridge_nickel.htm
This demo shows why the Ibanez Quik Change tailpieces are far more versatile than the normal Gibson/Schaller stop bars: you don't need to untie your strings at the headstock! Just loosen them a bit, unhook them at the tail and put the Les Trem on or off. The Les Trem has the same top loading system, just like the Bowen Handle used to have.
I don't wanna waste a good set of strings on this experiment.
So, on which guitar am I going to test my Les Trem II?
It's got to be something with chrome top loading hardware.
My AM-50? My AR30BK? My ST50?
I think my AR30BK is the best choice, because it has an ST bridge. I can easily replace that with a roller bridge (easier than Gibraltar I and II).
Ginger
Great!
Your flex is strong
Hi bro, I installed this tremolo and also a rolled bridge on my Ephiphone Wilshire p90 however the tuning is not stable at all. Any time I push/pull the tremolo it goes out of tune dramatically specially on G and D strings. Any advice? Did you modify the nut? Or something else?
Only modified the nut with graphit! Good luck!
@@mattguitarwater do You mean put graphit? Or replace the nut?
@@aristidesvillegas7167if the trem is set up correct then going out of tune is string snagging at nut or bridge şadle … so must be adjusted to free flow
Cool playing
Thank you so much!
great video dude, you dive it really down ! :D
Thanks a lot!!!
Hey Mathias, why is your second name water in german?
In English Water, in German Waßer.
I put a Duesenberg Les Trem II on an Epiphone Les Paul Prophecy. I like it, but I'm trying to figure out a way to take a little off of the spring so that the arm sits a bit lower. Yes, I know the arm angle is adjustable, but it still sits too high for me when it's adjusted to be level or parallel with the guitar's top, and I don't want to adjust it so that it tilts downward. I've searched and cannot find a spring with the same specs but shorter, so I'm thinking about grinding off a bit of it. I wonder if anyone else has attempted this?
Ever think about bending the arm, carefully?
I had the same problem! This guitar is no longer mine!
Great video, do you have a link to the tuners you used….thanks
Thank you so much!!!

Matthias, you are excellent!
Thank you so much, Lukas!
So, how good is this to make dive bombs and other forms of trem abuse? I'm quite interested in making John Cipollina kind of tremming, but i don't want to get out of tune.
Hmmmm, you can hear it in the first 10 seconds. It's not bad, but not made for dive bombs!
Funktioniert gut Matthias! Bei der Ibanez laufen die Saiten noch relativ gerade durch den Sattel. Das ist ein Vorteil! Schönes Video!
Vielen Dank, Martin!
Ja, geraderer Saitenverlauf als bei Gibson.
is that a roller bridge?
Yes!

probably a dumb question but can this be installed on a guitar that only has a wraparound and no tune o matic?
There are no dump questions!
I don’t think so, because the strings are arranged in a slight circle and have no support point!
And I think the vibrato arm would get in the way.
Kind regards, Matthias
@@mattguitarwater thanks for the answer! do you think it would be worth experimenting with?
Great rewiew :) love cheers
Thank you so much!
Hey Matthias, do the other strings stay in tune when you do drop tunings on one of them?
Hmmm, a little bit out of tune….
@@mattguitarwater I see, thanks for confirming
You’re welcome!!!
I need help the spring came out and now It doesn’t want to go back in as normal anymore
Hmmmm, no longer mine, but I think you have to order a new spring!
Others on RUclips are putting the washers under the trem next to the body?
How important is roller Bridge?
Why put graphite on top of the saddle?
@@ozbizbozzle
Yes, to protect the finish.
Better intonation with roller bridge and graphit in the saddle.
Did U use the same strings ? Thanks
No, new D`Addario strings 010 -052. Kind regards, Matthias
Ich glaub, die Unterlegscheiben sollen unter das Trem, um den Lack zu schonen. Sonst aber cooles System.
Bestimmt! Ja, es funktioniert echt gut und besser als ein Bigsby.
I guess I can delay getting a Strat and just slap this on to my SG for new possibilities.
Great Idee!
Great playing! I'm having a setup and a Les Trem installed on my Epi Les Paul Tribute as I write.
Curious: What loop pedal are you using to play along with?
Thank you so much!
@@mattguitarwater What loop pedal are you using to play along with?
@@GregoryDominato Sorry! A Boss RC-2 Looper!
Does this system suffer from string sag? I.e. if you bend one string, do the others go slightly flat during the bend because the trem moves?
Hmm..... in your described case it works better than my Strat trem. Have a look at my video where I play a little bit.
There are some parts with bendings:
