    One small annoyance with Les Trem is that the lock nut that's inside the spring does not really hold and the bar becomes loose after short use. This can be fixed easily by wrapping couple of rounds of teflon thread seal tape around the screw.

      Curious, it seems that it works the other way around to me. It seems to tighten with time, so it's become difficult to move it at all.

      im having this problem as well! When I'm using the trem I can feel that there is too much space between the lock nut and the other parts inside the spring. kind of like a click when I push or pull. I have tried adjusting it but it just gets loose again after 10 minutes of playing. I have looked for the answer and found some guys using gorilla glue lol. Im going to try the teflon tape. sounds like it would work en wouldn't harm anything.

    yes - I bought it and I installed it to an ESP Edwards "Michael Schenker Flying V" and it works fine. There are differences between the strings. By the high E-string I can trem a half tone below - by the deep E-String I can make Divebombs ...... btw. I bought an additional "roller bridge" for better tuning stability.

    They quickly mention the lock nut that controls the tremolo arm.
    Even if you do not adjust it, it comes loose or did for me over time. This to me seems like the major design flaw as your tuning instantly disappears.
    I initially really liked it, but it is no longer usable to me as it loosens after minutes of use for me. I would have to use locktite to stabilize it at this point I think. Even then, that is a fix that i would like to avoid and instead have something mechanically sound. Until this point of weakness is addressed, I do not foresee buying another. I know this is a common issue also. I am willing to go with a hardtail in the meantime though as I prefer tuning stability above all else, which, is why I gravitated towards this tremolo over the Bigsby in the first place. It is a shame there is this one significant point of failure in an otherwise well thought out, smooth tremolo.

    There is some inconsistency in the operation of Les Trem. It does not return exactly to the original position when the bar is released after pulling it. Many strings are left little bit sharp. It is something in the design of Les Trem - not in the bridge, nut or tuners. If the hex nut is not tightened properly then the guitar goes easily out of tune, but even when the nut is fully tightened there is still some inconsistency in the operation. I wonder if the arm that is holding the spring is able to change its angle slightly even when the hex nut is fully tightened. There goes quite a bit force to the arm when then bar is used. The angle of the arm has an effect to the spring tension, which in turn has an effect to the tuning and its stability.

    • @ataraxia4526
      @ataraxia4526 2 года назад

      Just to add to this old comment that I super glued the spring to the arm and this did help with the tuning stability. It also prevents the spring dropping away when bending notes. The tuning stability is still not perfect but I guess that guitarnutbuster and ABM rollerbridge might help with that.

    Would love to try this out, but the way that standard tunomatic bridge is moving doesn't look healthy at all. 1:35
    Looks like it could warp the posts or cause them grind away the wood on the sides causing them to get loose.
    Or are those bridge saddles just not slotted properly? Wondering how this would look with a Roller-Bridge.

    • @DuesenbergGuitars
      @DuesenbergGuitars  3 года назад

      This is our Duesenberg Floating Bridge System. This allows the bridge to rock back and forth to compensate for the rubbing of the strings on the saddles of the bridge.
      We generally do not recommend roller bridges as they only work well when they have very good friction reduction which on the other hand weakens tone and sustain dramatically.

    • @JustRockMySoul
      @JustRockMySoul 3 года назад

      @@DuesenbergGuitars I see, thank you very much for the quick response and the info! So I do need your Floating Bridge System to make the LesTrem work? Or will normal or other Bridges work also, Rollerbridges aside?
      I imagine the combination of FBS and LesTrem offers the best handling and gradual, finer control and also making it easier to do dive bombs or anything with more bend since the Bridge is working with you.

    • @DuesenbergGuitars
      @DuesenbergGuitars  3 года назад

      @@JustRockMySoul We would recommend to get the LesTrem first and see if there actually is a problem with your setup. Aside from the bridge, there are other factors involved that also have an influence on tuning stability - nut, tuners, and definitely a proper stringing method. It also depends on what you actually want to be capable of doing. Adding a slight shimmer to chords with the tremolo is generally not a problem, whereas heavy tremolo action where the strings actually start moving through different parts of the hardware requires a really good setup.

    • @JustRockMySoul
      @JustRockMySoul 3 года назад

      @@DuesenbergGuitars That is very sound advice to go off of. I do have pretty decent Grover Tuners, which I hope and guess wouldn't be an issue.
      Judging by what you said neither should be the Tunomatic Bridge, given it is slotted properly. Do I need to worry about the force on the bridge at all? I'm afraid the rigid standard post will pull loose.
      Considering the nut, I just fit a bone onr into my Les Paul and am assuming the material will wear down rather quickly. Guess a lockable metallic one would be better for that purpose?
      When you say for the heavy action you need a really good setup, I assume that ideally includes your Floating Bridge.
      Less force needed to use it and potentially adding more range?

      Hey Emile,
      you can do that and the LesTrem will work just fine. However, there's a risk that the lacquer could be damaged because the washers would sit directly on the lacquer without clearance. It also depends on if the bushings are sunk slightly into the body or if the stick out a little bit.

      I believe it would actually sound better with more contact to the face of the guitar, laquer damage doesn't matter, tone and playability do more so I feel...

    Hi, just one question. Will this fit on a guitar with a hardtail bridge, or would some drilling or some other mods have to be involved?

    • @DuesenbergGuitars
      @DuesenbergGuitars  4 года назад +1

      Hey there! The LesTrem is designed to be an easy "plug-and-play" Tremolo by replacing a regular Stop-Tailpiece. If your guitar doesn't have a stop-tailpiece it doesn't mean the LesTrem is impossible to fit. It's a lot more work though, and a seperate bridge (Tune-O-Matic or similar) is absolutely necessary.
      Example: Tele style guitar with a regular Tele bridge.
      1) Remove the existing bridge
      2) Drill holes and properly fit a tune-o-matic bridge
      3) Drill holes and fit the LesTrem
      4) Adjust the neck angle by shimming the neck

    I was looking at the B5 style one. Are the Bigsby Vibramates compatible with these?

    • @DuesenbergGuitars
      @DuesenbergGuitars  4 года назад

      The Vibramates are not compatible with our version of the classic tremolo, but we do have our own adapterplate that allows you to mount a Duesenberg Diamond Deluxe Short Tremolo on the bushings of a Stop-Tailpiece. Similar to the Vibramate adapters.

      DuesenbergGuitars I was looking to install it on a guitar with a hardtail bridge. It currently has a Tele Half Bridge on it. Do you have something for that?

    • @DuesenbergGuitars
      @DuesenbergGuitars  4 года назад

      @@averydeadhorse There are no adapterplates for mounting tremolos on Teles that we are aware of. They are typically bolted straight into the guitars top like on classic Tremolo Teles. You can do the same thing with our Tremolo, no problem, but you will have to drill holes into the top. You may have to modify the bridge so you can lead the strings from the Tremolo to the saddles. There is a lot of info on that online. The procedure would be the same with our Tremolo.
      Best!

    this guy said you have to enlarge the holes on your guitar to install it

    and in Peter's video I don't think he did it
    they seems to have the exactly same guitar, so do you have to enlarge holes or not?

    looks like a great option for my Charvel Desolation LP style guitar, except... it doesn't come in the black nickel finish the rest of the hardware on the guitar is. I wonder if i could find a company that could strip and resurface the components in black nickel?

      Goldo, which is the parent company of Duesenberg, sell a black version. I got mine on eBay from a shop in France.

      @@SeanMcDougallsPage oh cool. i'm looking for Black Nickel, but still it's good to know they're available in black somewhere. after a bit of research, i've found that apparently it's pretty normal to re-plate metal guitar hardware, so i'm probably going to find someone to do that. it'll cost extra, but the guitar's worth it to me, and besides, it will be extra customized if it has a one of a kind tremolo. thanks for the info though.

    How was "Where to buy in the USA" not the highest "searched les trem" term?
    Amazon, nope. Sweetwater, nope. Guitar Center, nope. Reverb and Ebay are the only option and they are all EU sellers. I want to know simply, who in the USA actually stocks them?

    • @TheJoeFridayBand
      @TheJoeFridayBand 5 лет назад

      To the best of my knowledge, nobody, but when I ordered mine (from France) delivery didn't take long at all. My only "issue" is the additional height it adds to the guitar. I use an SKB LP style case, and this trem makes it harder to close.

      @@TheJoeFridayBand My issues is I then need to "on-ship" it to South America, that becomes problematic to do when you can't get a definitive price for an item. I find it astounding that Duesenberg do not have a distributor that has these on the western side of the Atlantic at all.
