    I'm leaving this comment for anyone that has problems with their Les Trem making creaking noises, as I've seen a few people mentioning this issue. I also hope someone from Duesenberg will pick up on this because in my opinion the Les Trem has a design flaw - but it can be fixed.
    The trem pivots around a 2mm steel rod attached to the body via 2 eyelets. There are fairly large gaps on either side of the eyelets, meaning the whole pivoting assembly can move laterally. Even a tiny amount of lateral movement was causing my Les Trem to creak - very annoying (it was nothing to do with the spring and oil or grease made no difference.)
    I fixed this problem by putting 4 small rubber grommets on the steel rod - one on each side of the eyelets, filling the gaps so there is no unwanted movement. The Les Trem is now dead silent and I think tuning stability has been improved as well - it's been rock solid even when abused quite heavily. It's a great vibrato system but I think it needs a slight redesign to take into account this issue.
    Also, I had to put an extra nut on the arm because the locking nut that comes with it kept coming loose...

      I greased it with a small amount of white lithium grease (also great for open gear tuners), but I like the grommet idea to further stabilize the whole thing. Mine's the Goldo version with the flat arm.
      (also added roller saddles, and lubed the nut with Big Bends Nut Sauce).

    • @Orkwort
      @Orkwort 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@nalukeko the rubber grommets didn't last the distance. I changed them out for small metal washers but it's the same idea - trying to stop the thing moving sideways. It's been working well for months now. Yeah roller saddles seem like a good move too.

      @@Orkwort 👍 I might go there if I need to take it apart again. Right now (being nicely greased) it seems to center and stay there well.
      Any ideas how to make it dive-only? I need to switch to Drop D in every set. Right now I sanded a brass washer for exact fit to avoid tilt back and secured it with an o-ring concoction. Wish there was a set screw/bolt.

    Adding a roller tune-o-matic to this trem helps tuning stability a lot. 'Cause strings slide back and forth on tune-o-matic saddles. Here the tune-o-matic leans to either side - 1:44 Can't understand why Duesenberg guys don't manufacture one.
    I had to buy a separate Schaller roller tune-o-matic after I installed the Duesenberg trem on my Les Paul Custom.
    I mean, I would gladly have bought both pieces from Duesenberg if they had a roller tune-o-matic in their production line.

      They have made this special Tailpiece because there is none else out there. They make their own Bigsby, because that needed some improvements (which they did). But there is no need for just another roller Bridge, the Schaller for example is just fine ;)

    I wish there was a set screw (or two) to make it 'dive-only' for quicker switches to Drop D and back, or keeping it in tune after string break.
    Right now I've got a (sanded down) brass washer wedged in the back, secured by some thin o-rings.

    I bought this bridge a few days ago. I liked its design, and in terms of tuning, it works relatively well. However, what's driving me CRAZY is the arm. Just moving it a little for a few minutes causes it to loosen a lot, and it seems to be the nut that loosens with the movement. As an alternative, I've had to keep the arm fixed and tight, but it's very uncomfortable, and I accidentally bump into it while playing. I miss the feeling of a strat arm, which I can move at will without it starting to wobble. Any solutions?

    • @nalukeko
      @nalukeko 8 месяцев назад

      You can adjust the tension of the nut holding the arm down. Gotta get in between the spring with the flat wrench, or open it by loosening the rear bolt on top. release string tension for that. Mine initially worked itself completely loose. Since I tightened it to my liking it's been staying put (so far at least).

    I thought that for the best sound quality, as much body contact as possible would be best wouldn't it? Flat to the face of your guitar instead of raised up off the face with washers, as much contact with the body as possible, is better for the sound or not?

    • @DuesenbergGuitars

      That is true, but in this case it would also cause damage to the body of the guitar - something we would generally try to avoid.

    • @DuesenbergGuitars
      @DuesenbergGuitars  3 года назад +1

      Hey @DelScully,
      the radius is usually set by the bridge, not the tremolo. Please note that the LesTrem cannot replace a wrap-around tailpiece. It definitely needs a seperate bridge.

    WHY doesn’t anybody use a roller bridge with these? Do they not notice the strings scraping and cutting into the bridge? If you think this trem works well with no roller bridge, just try a roller bridge and feel the world of difference. I can not imagine posting a vid like this. Can’t you hear the strings sawing into the bridge like a hacksaw? Unbelievable! If you overlook huge problems like this, for one you shouldn’t be modding guitars, and secondly, your ear for tone really sucks and you should try a more primitive instrument like a washboard! I’m sure it will sound just fine to you. Maybe you could play it with a wood rasp if you like the sound of metal scraping. This is a good trem, but you made it suck along with that over priced Gibson.
